Same Old Lies on Libya

The AmeriKan media propaganda always reads the same:

False pretense for war in Libya?

Yeah, turns out for that and every other war.

"NATO unleashes new Libya airstrikes; Rebels seek more firepower to gain against Khadafy" April 14, 2011|By Sebastian Abbot and Maggie Michael, Associated Press

AJDABIYA, Libya — NATO launched new airstrikes yesterday on targets held by Moammar Khadafy as rebel leaders urged a stronger air campaign that will allow them to advance on Khadafy’s territory....

Libyan rebels have been pleading for more NATO airstrikes as top Western and Arab envoys gather in Qatar’s capital to discuss ways to end the Libyan crisis....

Then why did you guys start it?

Mohammed Shammam, a spokesman for Libyan rebels, urged the US military to reassert a stronger role in the NATO-led air campaign....

Turns out we NEVER REALLY HANDED OFF ANYTHING, folks!

In Washington, Pentagon officials disclosed that American fighter jets have continued airstrikes in Libya even after the United States turned over the mission to NATO last week. The revelation that Americans have flown 35 percent of all air missions over the past 10 days came amid complaints from allies that the US military should be doing more.

Hey, what are MORE WAR LIES after the last TEN YEARS, 'eh, Americans?

While peace efforts remain the top objective, there also appears to be a shift toward trying to boost the rebels’ firepower to protect their territory from government offensives.

Right, peace is the main effort says the war-promoting paper.

Sigh.

One proposal by Italy — Libya’s former colonial ruler — calls for allies to provide defensive weapons.

In recent days, fighting on the eastern side of the country has been restricted to the occasional barrage of rockets, in contrast to the rapid advances and retreats that characterized much of the combat there in past weeks....

Khaled Kaim, Libya’s deputy foreign minister, alleged yesterday that Lebanese militants have joined the ranks of the rebels but had no evidence.

So?  That never stops the U.S. media.

Kaim claimed that several members of the Lebanese group Hezbollah are fighting alongside the rebels in Misurata and that members of another militant group, Amal, are training rebel fighters in Benghazi.

At the Doha meeting, delegates vowed to work toward setting up a financial mechanism to help the rebels’ transitional government pay salaries and cover other day-to-day needs. Envoys said the system could draw on oil revenues from rebel-held areas and frozen Libyan assets previously under Khadafy’s control....

It is what is called REGIME CHANGE!

"Khadafy using heavy weapons on civilians" April 16, 2011|By C. J. Chivers, New York Times

MISURATA, Libya — Military forces loyal to Moammar Khadafy have been firing into residential neighborhoods in this embattled city with heavy weapons — including cluster bombs that have been banned by much of the world and ground-to-ground rockets — according to witnesses and survivors, as well as physical evidence.

By their nature, neither of these so-called indiscriminate weapons, which strike large areas with a dense succession of high-explosive munitions, can be fired precisely. When fired into populated areas, they place civilians at grave risk....

The United States has used cluster munitions in battlefield situations in Afghanistan and Iraq and in a strike on suspected militants in Yemen in 2009.

What is interesting here is SO HAS ISRAEL in Lebanon and Palestine -- and yet THAT FACT is OMITTED!

When asked about the munitions at a news conference in Berlin, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said she was “not aware’’ of the specific use of cluster or other indiscriminate weapons in Misurata, but she said, “I’m not surprised by anything that Colonel Khadafy and his forces do.’’

The hypocrite Hitlery makes me sick.

And now we are trying to find the alleged war criminal a home?

"US, allies seek haven for Khadafy; Search slowed by possible Hague action" April 17, 2011|By David E. Sanger and Eric Schmitt, New York Times

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has begun seeking a country, most likely in Africa, that might be willing to provide shelter to Moammar Khadafy if he were forced out of Libya, even as new intelligence reports suggest that no rebel leader has emerged as a credible successor to the dictator.

The search for a country to accept Khadafy has been conducted quietly by the United States and its allies, even though the Libyan leader has shown defiance in recent days, parading through Tripoli’s streets and declaring that he has no intention of yielding to demands that he leave his country.

It's REGIME CHANGE, America.

The effort is complicated by the likelihood that he would be indicted by the International Criminal Court in the Hague for the bombing of Pan Am 103 in 1988 and atrocities inside Libya.

One possibility, according to three administration officials, is to find a country that is not a signatory to a treaty that requires countries to turn over anyone under indictment for trial by the court, perhaps giving Khadafy an incentive to abandon his stronghold in Tripoli. About half of the countries in Africa have not signed or ratified the Rome Statute, which requires nations to abide by commands from the international court.

The move by the United States to find a haven for Khadafy may help explain how the White House is attempting to enforce President Obama’s declaration that the Libyan leader must leave the country but without violating Obama’s refusal to put troops on the ground.

The UN Security Council has authorized military strikes to protect the Libyan population, but not to oust the country’s leadership. But Obama and the leaders of Britain and France, among others, have declared that to be their goals, apart from the military campaign.

“We learned some lessons from Iraq, and one of the biggest is that Libyans have to be responsible for regime change, not us,’’ one senior administration official said yesterday. “What we’re simply trying to do is find some peaceful way to organize an exit, if the opportunity arises.’’

They admit it, readers. They ain't even trying to hide it anymore.

In a separate development, Libyan rebels said they have begun receiving arms shipments from abroad, but there has been no independent confirmation of that.

That means they are and the AmeriKan media has been told to keep quiet about it.

The rebel military leader, General Abdel Fattah Younes, said in an interview with the Al Arabiya news channel that his forces had received weapons supplies from unidentified nations that support their uprising. A spokesman for the rebels’ National Transitional Council, Mustafa Gheriani, confirmed Younes’s statement but would not provide details.

On Thursday, the emir of Qatar, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, told CNN that his country would provide weapons to the rebels and that deliveries of antitank weapons might already have reached them. Qatar, Italy, and France have recognized the rebels as Libya’s legitimate government.

As the drama over Khadafy’s future has intensified, new details are emerging of the monthlong NATO bombing campaign, which, in the minds of many world leaders, has expanded into a campaign to press the Libyan military and Khadafy’s aides to turn against him.

That effort has gone more slowly than some expected; after the defection of the former intelligence chief and foreign minister, Moussa Koussa, no other senior officials have broken with Khadafy.

It is ALWAYS the SAME, isn't it?  These guys NEVER F***ING LEARN, and we get PROPAGANDA SPEWED AT US by the media EVERY TIME!

After dawn yesterday, Khadafy’s forces poured rocket fire into Misurata, the only western city still in rebel hands, and residents who have endured more than a month of fighting criticized NATO for failing to halt the deadly assault. Five civilians were killed in a 30-minute barrage of shelling that heavily damaged a factory for dairy products, the Associated Press reported.

Should I believe them, readers?

In eastern Libya, fierce fighting left seven rebels dead, 27 wounded, and four missing as the anti-Khadafy forces sought to push toward the strategic oil town of Brega, the AP said, quoting Mohammed Idris, a hospital supervisor in Ajdabiya.

Six countries — Britain, France, Norway, Canada, Belgium, and Denmark — have contributed more than 60 aircraft that are conducting airstrikes on Libyan targets that attack civilians. But NATO commanders say they are still need at least eight more warplanes to relieve the stress on pilots now flying repeated combat missions.

The United States, which carried out the largest share of strike missions before handing off control of the operation to NATO on April 4, has promised additional fighter-bombers and ground-attack planes if NATO requests them. While some European officials have privately complained that the United States should resume a leading role in the attack missions, US officials say they have not received any formal requests for additional aircraft.

We are still in the lead!

"UN says Libyan regime promises access to rebel city; In besieged Misurata, 267 people killed" April 19, 2011|By Karin Laub, Associated Press

TRIPOLI, Libya — The UN humanitarian chief said yesterday that the Libyan government has promised her access to the besieged rebel city of Misurata, but with no guarantees that the assault by Moammar Khadafy’s forces would cease.

A Libyan official said the government is willing to set up “safe passage’’ into Misurata, the only city still partly held by rebels in Khadafy-controlled western Libya. But at the same time, a witness in Misurata reported yesterday that government forces continued to pound the city with rockets and artillery.

At least 267 people have been killed in Misurata, Libya’s third-largest city, during more than seven weeks of siege, the New York-based Human Rights Watch said, and the final toll will probably be higher. After inspecting impact sites and talking to witnesses, the group accused Libyan forces of launching indiscriminate rocket and mortar attacks on residential neighborhoods.

The paper quotes HRW so much I now realize it is mostly a Zionist propaganda outfit now.

Yes, they occasionally issue reports criticizing Israel and the United States; however, I suspect that is to maintain some credibility. For the most part they minimize and ignore the crimes of western powers.

Related: Human Rights Watch

Wow, a lot of Jews and Jewish funding behind it.

Rebels and civilians evacuated from Misurata by boat as part of an international rescue mission were taken off on gurneys or in wheelchairs. One had a severely damaged leg with braces and bandages and some women carried babies. One of the rebels carried fragments of rockets as he disembarked in the rebels’ de facto capital Benghazi late in the day.

“I brought this to show people what’s going on there [in Misurata]. Somebody has to do something about it,’’ said 38-year-old Ali Milad, who wore a long dirty robe and carried his belongings in a single bag.

The rebels have controlled much of eastern Libya, including the second-largest Libyan city of Benghazi, since early on in the uprising against Khadafy that began in mid-February. Khadafy loyalists have crushed other rebellions in western Libya, but have not been able to take back control of Misurata through many weeks of attacks.

The Libyan government has denied firing heavy weapons, including rockets and tank shells, at the city.

“If there is killing of civilians, we are saying that the rebels are the ones killing civilians,’’ government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said yesterday. He said the rebels have received weapons by sea from the Gulf state of Qatar and alleged European governments have also started arming the Misurata fighters, but did not elaborate or provide evidence.

The Libyan government has turned down repeated requests by foreign journalists based in the capital of Tripoli to go to Misurata. Journalists in Tripoli are not allowed to tour western Libya independently, without government minders....

Then why am I reading this?

"Britain sending 20 advisers to aid Libyan rebel forces; Allies seek ways to end stalemate with Khadafy" April 20, 2011|By Karin Laub, Associated Press

TRIPOLI, Libya — Britain is sending up to 20 military advisers to help Libya’s ragtag rebel force break a military stalemate with Moammar Khadafy’s army....

Both Italy and France remain opposed to sending ground troops....

Then just call them by a different name.

The UN Security Council resolution bans the use of foreign troops in Libya. Russia — a veto-wielding member of the Council — already has complained that the NATO action in bombing Libya’s military has overstepped its mandate; Moscow is unlikely to approve any further extension of the alliance’s operations....

Yeah, ever notice how the war-promoting paper never tells you most of the world is and was against all of this -- including the American people?

"Libyan rebels under siege; In western city, influence of NATO limited" April 21, 2011|By Ben Hubbard, Associated Press

Like Gaza?

France vowed yesterday to step up airstrikes, and France and Italy said that they would join Britain in sending some liaison officers to support the rebel army in Libya. The deployment of the officers was a sign that there would be no quick and easy end to the war in Libya, military analysts said.

But, as in Iraq, we are ALREADY IN IT, so.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The dispatching of the liaison officers — probably fewer than 40 of them, and carefully not designated as military trainers — is also a sign, they said, that only a combination of military pressure from the sky, economic pressure on the government, and a better-organized and coordinated rebel force will finally convince Khadafy that he has no option but to quit....

I'm feeling like I have no option but to quit reading the Boston Globe.

"In slain fighter’s past, questions of Libyan rebels’ links with terror" April 21, 2011|By Sebastian Abbot, Associated Press

AJDABIYA, Libya — The question of Islamic fundamentalists among the rebels is one of the murkier issues for Western nations who are aiding the anti-Khadafy forces with airstrikes and must decide how deeply to get involved in the fight. Some countries, including the United States, have been wary — partly out of concern over possible extremists among the rebels....

Beware of the murk, readers.

Abdel-Moneim Mokhtar fought for three years in the fields and mountains of Khost and Kandahar provinces under Jalaluddin Haqqani — a prominent commander who was backed by the United States during the Soviet war but has now become one of its fiercest enemies in Afghanistan....

Oh, the HAQQANI NETWORK!

"Haqqani.... credited with introducing suicide bombing to the region.... cultivated as a "unilateral" asset of the CIA and received tens of thousands of dollars in cash for his work.... He may have had a role in expediting the escape of Osama Bin Laden.... In July 2008, CIA officials confronted Pakistan officials with evidence of ties between Inter-Services Intelligence and Haqqani. Haqqani has been accused of involvement in the 2008 Indian embassy bombing in Kabul.... The Haqqani Network is based in Pakistan and is believed to have links to Al Qaeda."

Yeah, the CIA took their LIST of ASSETS and turned them into "Al-CIA-Duh."

"Libyan rebels make gains in mountains, besieged city; US authorizes deployment of armed drones" April 22, 2011|By David D. Kirkpatrick and Thom Shanker, New York Times

CAIRO — The government of Moammar Khadafy suffered setbacks on multiple fronts yesterday as rebels in the western mountains seized a Tunisian border crossing, fighters in the besieged city of Misurata said they were gaining ground, and President Obama authorized the use of armed drones for close-in fighting against Khadafy’s forces....

The give back that f***ing Peace Prize right now.

Yeah, SOME CHANGE!  From ONE WAR MONGER to a WORSE WAR MONGER!

As the fighting in the mountains has escalated over the past two weeks, UN aid workers say that more than 14,000 Libyan refugees — many of them members of the Berber minority, which is prevalent in the area — have fled across the same border, with as many as 6,000 a day crossing recently, a spokesman for the UN Human Rights Commission said.

Another downplayed aspect of liberating regime change.

While it is unclear whether the rebels can hold Wazen, their success is the first major crack in Khadafy’s control of the western region since he crushed the uprisings that broke out in Tripoli and many other places across Libya when the insurrection erupted two months ago. It opens the possibility of the rebels there importing aid or weapons and provided the first hint of a break in the stalemate that has settled over the Libyan civil war in recent weeks.

Do you guys just CHANGE the NAMES of the COUNTRIES on the reports or what?

This is reading JUST LIKE ALL the IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN PROPAGANDA I have been reading for years!!

In a move that seemed to be aimed at ending that deadlock, the Pentagon said yesterday that Obama had authorized the use of armed Predator drones....

I consider him a WAR CRIMINAL just like BUSH!

The US military has used the Predator, a remotely piloted aircraft outfitted with Hellfire missiles, to hit targets in urban and rural areas in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and Yemen.

Yup, and MOST of the DEAD have been CIVILIANS, you mass-murdering f***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In announcing the deployment, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates described the addition of armed Predators as “a modest contribution’’ to the NATO attack mission. But Obama’s approval of their deployment seemed to be another sign of gaps in NATO’s ability to carry out complicated, extended combat missions without continued and significant US support.

Translation: We are getting MORE DEEPLY INVOLVED even as PEACE is the FIRST PRIORITY!

Those gaps have become more apparent since the United States transferred command of the Libya mission to NATO on April 4, when the US military stepped back to a supporting role. Despite that move, US planes have dropped significant numbers of bombs, more than any of the other countries in the alliance....

What, NATO drop the hand-off?

Btw, I thought we were just supposed to be enforcing a NO-FLY ZONE!

While most attention has focused on Benghazi and Misurata, the mountainous western region stretching from Wazen to nearby Nalut and Zintan has simmered with opposition to Khadafy. The area is home to a heavy concentration of Berbers, who have long chafed under the Khadafy government, which has sought to deny their status as a culturally distinct minority.

After rebels took control of Benghazi on Feb. 20, residents of Nalut and Zintan joined others from Tripoli, Misurata, Zawiyah, Zawara, Sabratha and other towns in taking to the streets to burn police stations and the headquarters of Khadafy’s local “revolutionary committees.’’ In the following weeks, however, his security forces reestablished a firm grip on Tripoli and gradually recaptured most of the other towns as well, leaving Zintan and Misurata as the main western centers of resistance....

"Rebels say airstrikes aid in gains in center of Misurata; McCain, in Libya, calls for more aid" April 23, 2011|By Leila Fadel and Simon Denyer, Washington Post

MISURATA, Libya — In the rebel stronghold of Benghazi in eastern Libya, Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, one of the strongest congressional proponents of military intervention against Khadafy, made an unannounced visit and called for further US and international assistance to the rebels. Saying he was there to assess the situation for himself, he called the rebels his heroes.

Now you KNOW the CIA is in there! Who do you think set up this trip?

Rebels were buoyed by signs of progress in their military struggle against Khadafy....

Readers, I am really, really, really, tired of reading the SAME OLD SHIT PROPAGANDA from the WAR PAPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that the conflict nevertheless was “moving towards a stalemate.’’

But we are winning, sigh.

****************

McCain also discounted the claims of the Khadafy government, echoed in the complaints of some congressional critics of the US intervention, that the rebels have been infiltrated by Al Qaeda members.

“I have met these brave fighters, and they are not Al Qaeda,’’ McCain said. “To the contrary, they are patriots who want to liberate their nation.’’

Please REMEMBER THAT STATEMENT for LATER DOWN!

"Senators call on US to do more to help Libyan rebels; Khadafy attacks Misurata with rockets, shells" April 25, 2011|By Karin Laub and Diaa Hadid, Associated Press

TRIPOLI, Libya — Three members of the Senate Armed Services Committee said yesterday that the United States and its allies are not doing enough to end the stalemate in Libya, where Moammar Khadafy’s forces unleashed a barrage of shells and rockets at Misurata in an especially bloody weekend.

Despite the assault on Misurata, which doctors said killed 32 and wounded dozens in two days, rebels said they drove the last progovernment forces from the center of Libya’s third-largest city. Morale among Khadafy’s troops fighting in Misurata has collapsed, with some abandoning their posts, said one captured Libyan soldier.

The battle for Misurata, which has claimed hundreds of lives in the past two months, has become the focal point of Libya’s armed rebellion against Khadafy since fighting elsewhere is deadlocked....

In broadcast interviews yesterday, Senator John McCain, a Republican from Arizona [and] chairman of the Armed Services Committee, said “I really fear a stalemate.’’

*************

He said it was “very possible’’ that Al Qaeda could come in to take advantage of the stalemate and a politically divided Libya....

After he just said what above? McCain must be getting senile.

In interviews on CNN’s “State of the Union’’ and NBC’s “Meet the Press,’’ McCain said the US military should increase air support for the rebels. He said sufficient air power “could bring Khadafy to his knees.’’

Sorry, but you CAN NOT WIN a GROUND WAR from the AIR -- especially in DESERTS and MOUNTAINS!

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, another Republican member of the committee, went further in an appearance on the CNN program. Graham said he wants NATO to bomb Khadafy’s inner circle and military headquarters, saying the quickest way to end the stalemate is “to cut the head of the snake off.’’

That sounds like a CALL for ASSASSINATION!

McCain, Graham, and Senator Joe Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut, said they interpreted the UN Security Council resolution — authorizing military action to protect Libyan civilians and imposing a no-fly zone — as also allowing moves necessary to drive Khadafy from power.

“I think it gives justification if NATO decides it wants to, for going directly after Khadafy,’’ Lieberman said. “I can’t think of anything that would protect the civilian population of Libya more than the removal of Moammar Khadafy.’’

And THERE YOU HAVE IT!

Confirmation that the ZIONIST AGENDA calls for REGIME CHANGE!

How VERY, VERY INTERESTING considering the world we find ourselves in ten years later!

***************

“The people around Khadafy need to wake up every day wondering, ‘Will this be my last?’ The military commanders in Tripoli supporting Khadafy should be pounded,’’ Graham said. “So I would not let the UN mandate stop what is the right thing to do. You cannot protect the Libyan people if Khadafy stays. You cannot protect our vital national security interests if Khadafy stays.’’

Really, WHAT VITAL NATIONAL SECURITY INTERESTS is he TALKING ABOUT?!!

And to HELL with INTERNATIONAL LAW, right?

Israel must have gained that information from its spy program; no wonder Graham is so rabid when it comes to the Zionist agenda.

McCain was not as enthusiastic about targeting Khadafy directly, saying, “We have tried those things in the past with other dictators, and it’s a little harder than you think it is.’’ Khadafy is elusive and “a great survivor, and there’s the potential for civilian casualties,’’ which could turn the Libyan people against the United States, he said.

Aren't they Khadafy's people anyway?

“My emphasis is on winning the battle on the ground, not taking a chance on taking him out with a lucky air strike,’’ McCain said.

How long before the U.S. sends in the Marines, readers?

The senators said they want increased use of US precision weapons and American air power returned to the mission.

A NATO air strike on Khadafy’s compound in Tripoli early today left three buildings badly damaged. Officials said two to four large missiles or bombs exploded in the compound early Monday, slightly wounding four people. The buildings were described as locations where Khadafy holds meetings....

Smells like an ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT to me!

Cut by web version:

Ali Misbah, a captured Libyan soldier who had been wounded in the leg, said he and his fellow soldiers were told that they were fighting against Al Qaeda militants, not ordinary Libyans who took up arms against Khadafy. "They misled us," Misbah sid of the government.

"Libya accuses NATO of trying to assassinate defiant Khadafy; Guided bombs batter Tripoli headquarters; Italy says it will join in air strikes" April 26, 2011|By Simon Denyer, Washington Post

TRIPOLI, Libya — Libya’s government accused NATO yesterday of trying to assassinate Moammar Khadafy after the coalition sent at least two large guided bombs into the sprawling office, residential, and military complex where he lives in the heart of Tripoli.

That was certainly my impression after reading the comments by Israel's servants, 'er, AmeriKa's senators.

In a statement, the alliance described the attack early yesterday as a precision strike on a communications headquarters “that was used to coordinate attacks against civilians.’’

That's the cover-all excuse.

*************

The attacks further increased the international military pressure on Khadafy, who has been clinging to control in western Libya.

Then how is it a "stalemate?"

Is the LYING by the AmeriKan media UNBELIEVABLE or what?

The United States last week added armed Predator drones to NATO campaign of air strikes. Italy said that its military will join in strategic bombing raids.

Also yesterday, Italy, after weeks of declining to participate in direct bombing raids, said for the first time that it would begin striking select military targets in Libya.

The New York Times reported that Italy announced its decision to participate in the air raids after a telephone conversation between President Obama and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi....

The Bab al-Aziziyah compound is also the scene of nightly celebrations by hundreds of civilians offering themselves as human shields to protect Khadafy against NATO....

Really, I'm just sick of the propaganda.

Of course, when ISRAEL TIES a PALESTINIAN KID to the HOOD of a JEEP that is OKAY!

The Obama administration denied that the strike was specifically intended to kill Khadafy.

What do you do with incorrigible liars?

Also yesterday, the first shipment of food aid from US farms bound for Libya arrived in Alexandria, Egypt. The aid will be stored inside and outside Libya by the World Food Program, for use if the situation deteriorates, officials said.

(Blog editor is incredulous; this as AMERICANS are SUFFERING HUNGER! The COST of EMPIRE extend in ways you NEVER EVEN DREAMED, Americans)
