Boston Globe Vacation Tip

Don't go to Florida:

"Services set for teens killed in Fla." by Travis Andersen, Globe Staff / June 13, 2011

Services for two teenage siblings who were fatally shot in their Tampa home last week are planned for tomorrow and Wednesday in Lawrence, where they once lived.

A wake will be held tomorrow for Jeremi Brito, 13, and his sister Kiara, 16, according to the Farrah Funeral Home in Lawrence, and burial is planned for Wednesday....

Relatives in Lawrence and Haverhill could not be reached for comment yesterday. A family friend said in a brief phone interview that Jeremi and Kiara used to live in Lawrence but moved to Florida several years ago with their mother, Judy.

According to press releases issued by the Tampa police, the siblings allowed Tavari Grant, 18, and Charles Waits, 19, to enter their home on the morning of June 5 because they knew the men. Police said Grant and Waits shot the siblings multiple times and stole jewelry, electronics, and possibly cash. Kiara and her brother were home by themselves at the time, police said....

On the Facebook tribute page, friends and family remembered both siblings as kind children. Some friends mentioned Kiara’s talent as a basketball player and a tattoo artist....
