"No injuries in freight train derailment

AMHERST -- Several cars of a freight train derailed in Amherst yesterday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, police said. The derailment happened about 3 p.m. near South East Street, Amherst police Lieutenant William Menard said. There were no hazardous materials or traffic problems involved, according to police. New England Central Railroad owns the tracks, Amtrak spokesman Steve Kulm said. The company could not be immediately reached for comment."
