Fire, Flood, and Fukushima Coverage Leaves Me Feeling Frustrated

It is really making me question the purchases at this point.

"As nuclear plants age, NRC loosens safety regulations; Problems often fixed by saying rules too strict" June 20, 2011|By Jeff Donn, Associated Press

LACEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Federal regulators have been working closely with the nuclear power industry to keep the nation’s aging reactors operating within safety standards by repeatedly weakening those standards or simply failing to enforce them, an investigation by the Associated Press has found....

Well, NOW YOU KNOW WHO TO LYNCH, I mean, BLAME when an "accident" happens HERE, America!!!!!

Yup, SAME as the OIL INDUSTRY, COAL INDUSTRY, and ANY OTHER INDUSTRY overseen by GOVERNMENT!

Government WORKS FOR THEM not YOU, my dear reader and fellow citizen.

Industry and government officials defend their actions and say that no chances are being taken.

And if so they will SIMPLY LIE about the problem like they did cancer leaking into the soil and water upstream.

Think I believe them anymore?

But the AP investigation found that with billions of dollars and 19 percent of America’s electricity supply at stake, a cozy relationship prevails between the industry and its regulator, the NRC....

The ongoing crisis at the stricken, decades-old Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility in Japan has focused attention on the safety of plants elsewhere in the world....

But the factor of aging goes far beyond the issues posed by the disaster at Fukushima.

Commercial nuclear reactors in the United States were designed and licensed for 40 years. When the first ones were being built in the 1960s and 1970s, it was expected that they would be replaced with improved models before those licenses expired.

But that never happened.

Instead, 66 of the 104 operating units have been relicensed for 20 more years, mostly with scant public attention....

More like $cant media attention, and we all know why.

Speaking of scant attention:

"The March 11 earthquake and tsunami destroyed the plant’s power and crucial cooling systems, causing three reactor cores to melt and as well as several explosions....

And that place is still hot and leaking radiation. That's why the coverage di$appeared from the paper.

Yup, crisis over, sigh.

"Nuclear agency leader calls for a global survey on plant safety; Concedes panel has little power to enforce standards" by George Jahn, Associated Press / June 21, 2011

VIENNA — The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency today urged a worldwide safety review to prevent nuclear disasters, but acknowledged that because the IAEA lacks enforcing authority, any improvements are effective only if countries apply them....

“We need to have a sense of urgency.’’

I always say WAIT A MINUTE when some globalist s***ter use that word.

That word is a WARNING considering all the URGENT ACTIONS government has taken over LIES!

Of course, what remains unsaid that the IAEA should have been LOOKING OUT FOR RECTOR SAFETY rather than SEARCHING for NON-EXISTENT NUCLEAR WEAPONS in Iraq and Iran at the behest of the USraeli war-makers all these years.

Which brings us beck to the THREATENED NUCLEAR PLANTS of NEBRASKA:

"Rising water breaches Mo. levees, causes nuclear alert" June 20, 2011|Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Several levees in northern Missouri were failing yesterday to hold back the surge of water being released from upstream dams.

Authorities said water, some of it from recent rain, began pouring over levees Saturday night and yesterday morning in Holt and Atchison counties, flooding farmland and numerous homes and cabins.

A hole in the side of a Holt County levee continued to grow yesterday, deluging the state park and recreational area of Big Lake, 78 miles north of Kansas City....

Meanwhile, the Nebraska Public Power District issued a flooding alert for its nuclear power plant in southeast Nebraska as the Missouri River continues to rise....

The first and only fart poot about it that I have seen in my Boston Globe.

I've now learned that the agenda-pushing media amplifies certain crises while minimizing others. Thus they are not to be trusted ever again.

"11,000 told to leave as N.D. river swells" by Associated Press / June 22, 2011

MINOT, N.D. — About 11,000 Minot residents are being ordered to leave their homes even earlier than expected this week as the Souris River gets closer to swamping the North Dakota city with the worst flooding in four decades, officials said yesterday....

The Souris River that loops down from Canada through north central North Dakota is bloated by heavy spring snowmelt and rain on both sides of the border....

Yeah, once again the truth makes a fleeting appearance in my pos paper.

"Vt. residents dry out, pick up pieces as Lake Champlain recedes" June 20, 2011|By John Curran, Associated Press

BURLINGTON, Vt. — For people and businesses along its shoreline, the receding flood waters of Lake Champlain shoreline are both blessing and curse.

After two months above flood stage, the giant freshwater lake bordered by New York, Vermont, and Quebec is finally getting back where it belongs — and out of basements, streets, and lakefront cottages....

The water may be gone, but it has left behind a muddy mess, deposits of debris and driftwood everywhere, and properties suddenly in need of big ticket repairs....

And here is an anecdotal observation for you: All spring the tress and plants have struggled. They have looked droopy, and at first I attributed this to the wet spring; however, now flowers and other plants as well as trees are dying while blooming.

Then it hit me: radiation that has been wafting from Fukushima and enveloping the planet all these months came down in the form of rain. That is why so many leaves and flowers are dying. The only thing liking it all are the weeds.

But never you mind that, the oil-soaked seafood, the chemical and excrement run-off from the floods, the prescription drugs in the water, the pollution and all those other things; you're breathing is killing this planet:

"Study reveals long-term rise in sea level; Researcher cites link to increase in temperatures" by Randolph E. Schmid,  Associated Press / June 21, 2011

WASHINGTON — Sea level has been rising significantly over the past century of global warming, according to a study that offers the most detailed look yet at the changes in ocean levels during the last 2,100 years....

Related: Rise of sea levels is 'the greatest lie ever told'

No rise in 50 years by a guy who actually went out and measured?

Looking back in history, the researchers found that sea level was relatively stable from 100 BC to AD 950. Then, during a warm climate period beginning in the 11th century, sea level rose by about half a millimeter per year for 400 years.

As if I would believe anything the lying AmeriKan media would say about history!

That was followed by a second period of stable sea level associated with a cooler period, known as the Little Ice Age, which persisted until the late 19th century.

Rising sea levels are among the hazards that concern environmentalists and governments with increasing global temperatures caused by greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels like coal and oil over the last century or so....

They act as if we have forgotten the two record-cold winters as well as the summer and spring that wasn't.

Please, just do us all a favor, fart-misters, and go away.  Go protest the pollution-belching, mass-murdering wars and stop trying to ¢rawl up my a$$.

I'd say it is time to light a fire under the AmeriKan media, but it is far too late for that.

They have utterly and completely failed.

"Wildfire battle in north Florida claims lives of 2 rangers" by Associated Press / June 22, 2011

TALLAHASSEE — The rangers were working Monday to stop a rekindled blaze called the Blue Ribbon Fire in Hamilton County on the Georgia line, one of more than 400 wildfires burning around Florida in one of the busiest fire seasons in years....

Governor Rick Scott told CBS’s “The Early Show’’ yesterday that his heart goes out to the families.“It’s tragic, but pray for rain,’’ Scott said. “It looks like we’re going to start getting more rain tomorrow.’’

That is the state's answer? PRAY for RAIN?

Seems to have been forgotten, too.

Of course, the REASON is OBVIOUS: the government CAN NOT ACTUALLY SOLVE the VERY PROBLEMS they have HELPED CREATE because all they are good for is shoveling money to favored corporate interests while fighting self-created frauds like "terrorism."

They can ONLY RESPOND to the THREATS THEY THEMSELVES have created and have NO MONEY or IDEA on how to solve REAL PROBLEMS!

They can't $olve the economy, they can't end the war$, and they dare not $tand up to the bank$ and corporation$ that call the tune.
