NAIROBI - The death of Kenya’s internal security minister, George Saitoti, is a “great tragedy that has befallen our country at this time as we are making elaborate preparations to hold peaceful elections,’’ Prime Minister Raila Odinga said at the scene of the crash, a forest on the city’s outskirts. It was not immediately clear what caused the accident. Kenyan police cordoned off the scene of the crash and said they were investigating.
Hmmmmmmmm. Who would have wanted him out of the way and why?
I'm sorry I don't have time to investigate further, dear readers, but rest assured I am not buying the account in my newspaper.
Odinga said Saitoti and Ojode were on their way to a political event in western Kenya.
Here we go again, right?
Saitoti, an American-trained economist and mathematician, was one of the most visible figures in Kenyan politics. For more than a decade he was a deputy to former President Daniel arap Moi.
As security minister he was the government’s spokesman on security matters, including Kenya’s decision to send troops to Somalia last year.
Yeah, I think that got Kenya off the hook.
Saitoti appeared often on national television to reassure the public in the aftermath of deadly attacks blamed on the Somali militant group al-Shabab.

And now it is almost -- almost -- as if the intelligence operation cover story we call a newspaper over here is implying it was the "terrorists."
Kenya’s government declared three days of mourning for the deaths of the ministers....
An anticorruption crusader, Mwalimu Mati, said the incident calls into question the government’s procurement of airplanes and helicopters for its security forces.
Yeah, right, I'd buy that (maybe, slim maybe) if it were you or I that died in an "accident," readers; however, we are talking important people at the top of the food chain in their society. They don't receive shoddy planes or shit food for service, sorry.

Another "terrorist" event:
"Kenyan leader blames militants for Nairobi blast" Associated Press, May 29, 2012
NAIROBI - Police officials who first responded hesitated to blame terrorism, given the lack of shrapnel....
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!
The police later released a statement saying that the cause of the explosion had not been established.
Oh, stink.
They are investigating the possibility that an improvised explosive device caused the blast, though investigators said it was unlikely a conventional bomb had been used.
Prime Minister Raila Odinga said security would be improved downtown.

Man, newspaper sure is pushing the terrorists did it line -- again.
I'm sorry, folks, but I've been having to take the Globe into the crapper because that is the effect it has been having on me. Excuse me.
