Women Like the Look of Romney

Let the rigged election narrative begin!

"Romney’s ‘likability’ on the rise, poll says

After enduring months of polling-based reports about his “likability problem,’’ Mitt Romney now enjoys his highest favorability rating since January, according to a Washington Post/ABC News survey published Wednesday. Romney owes much of his popularity surge to the women of the GOP. Just last month, only 59 percent of women in Romney’s own party viewed him favorably. Now, the measure is 80 percent - a 21-point improvement.

Among registered voters, 44 percent said they hold favorable views of Romney; the same percentage said they view him unfavorably. The even split may not seem impressive, but eight straight iterations of the poll had shown unfavorable opinions outpacing favorable ones.

In addition, President Obama’s favorable-to-unfavorable split is 49 to 48, according to the latest survey, meaning his net lead in likability is down to a single point. In April, the president’s advantage among registered voters was 19 points.

Other gaps persist. Obama’s favorability rating among nonwhites is 75 percent, compared with 21 percent for Romney. Fifty-eight percent of people making less than $50,000 per year view the president favorably, but just 36 percent see Romney the same way. And among people younger than 40, the president has a 55 percent favorability rating, compared with Romney’s 36 percent.

"House bill to ban sex-based abortions fails" June 01, 2012|Washington Post, Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The House fell short Thursday in an effort to ban abortions based on the sex of the fetus as Republicans and Democrats made an election-year appeal for women’s votes....

It was a rare social issue to reach the House floor in a year when the economy has dominated the conversation, and Republicans, besieged by Democratic claims that they are waging a war on women, struck back by trying to depict the vote as a women’s rights issue.

“It’s violence against women,’’ said Representative Chris Smith, Republican of New Jersey, of abortions of female fetuses. “It is the real war on women.’’

The White House, most Democrats, abortion rights groups, and some Asian-American organizations opposed the bill, saying it could lead to racial profiling of Asian-American women and subject doctors who do not report suspected sex-selection abortions to criminal charges.

The legislation would have made it a federal offense, subject to up to five years in prison, to perform, solicit funds for, or coerce a woman into having a sex-selection abortion. Bringing a woman into the country to obtain such an abortion would also be punishable by up to five years in prison.

The bill had little chance of becoming law. The Democratic-controlled Senate would probably have ignored it, and the House brought it up under a procedure requiring a two-thirds majority for passage....

"Shifting its focus on women’s issues from the bedroom to the pocketbook, congressional Democrats hope to challenge Republicans. While passage of the paycheck bill is unlikely, the unfolding debate is providing a talking point for Democrats."

Honestly, I'm kind of sick of the politicking, especially when it comes to kicking around women. I guess bank looters that steal homes or wars based upon lies that claim sons and daughters aren't as important to them as "women's issues."

Btw, WhereTF were the Democrats for women when they had the filibuster-proof majority, etc, etc.  We are told how much better they are for women, and may be; however, why didn't they address some of these issues before? Or is it that women -- along with students -- are more useful as a voting bloc prodded into action with fear?

Good luck when they are going up against rigged voting machines.
