A Providence man was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle in the death of a 4-year-old girl who was ejected from the car he was driving after he crashed through a guardrail on Interstate 495 early Friday in Bellingham, State Police said.
Luis J. Gonzalez, 22, was not injured in the crash and will also be charged with failing to properly secure the child in a restraint seat.
Another passenger in the car, Ilienes S. Santana, 20, also of Providence, was taken to Milford Hospital with serious injuries, State Police said. The relationship between the car’s three occupants was not immediately available.
Troopers are investigating the crash and any contributing factors that may have led to the child’s death.
