Sunday Globe Special: Brown Compound on Auction Block

Government foreclosure.

"Sale of N.H. tax evaders’ property carries risks" by Lynne Tuohy |  Associated Press, July 21, 2013

CONCORD, N.H. — Federal officials are preparing to sell the New Hampshire compound of a tax-evading couple convicted of amassing an arsenal of weapons, but can’t guarantee that explosives aren’t hidden on the 103-acre spread.

Oh, now their house is a "compound." We know the implications of that particular word choice by the agenda-pushing media.

In fact, they will openly warn bidders that land mines might be planted throughout Ed and Elaine Brown’s bucolic property in the small town of Plainfield. And they say prospective buyers won’t be allowed on the grounds until they submit a winning bid that frees the government of liability for dismemberment or death.

‘‘It’s going to be a very interesting sale,’’ said Chief US Deputy Marshal Brenda Mikelson, who is in charge of the auction.

The Browns, who do not recognize the federal government’s authority to tax its citizens, were in a nine-month standoff with authorities in 2007 after they were sentenced to five years in prison for tax evasion.

That's because the government never got authority. The 16th Amendment was never ratified, and the courts have unconstitutionally upheld. Sorry, but those are the facts.

US marshals posing as supporters arrested them peacefully.

They were convicted in 2009 of amassing weapons, explosives, and booby traps, and of plotting to kill federal agents who came to arrest them.

Ed and Elaine Brown, now in their 70s, are serving sentences of 37 and 35 years, respectively.

Mikelson said she has contacted numerous federal agencies that have explosive detection equipment and dogs, and none could ensure a clean sweep of the property, which includes acres of storm-damaged trees and other natural debris.

‘‘With the size of the property, there’s no way to search it and have any guarantees,’’ Mikelson said.

Translation: We don't want to spend the time and money doing it.

However, the hilltop house and the grounds up to the tree line have been searched extensively and are deemed free of improvised explosive devices and other booby traps, Mikelson said.

Federal marshals say they are still hammering out the language of the disclaimer and the auction won’t take place before September.

Also being auctioned is Elaine Brown’s dental office in West Lebanon in the heart of the retail hub of New Hampshire’s Upper Valley region.

By federal court order, the properties must be sold as is. Minimum bid for the Plainfield compound is $250,000, while the Lebanon office must sell for at least $507,500.

The court has ruled that the Browns and any heirs have no claims to the properties or any assets from their sale.

While the Browns kept federal marshals at bay, they welcomed a parade of antitax and antigovernment supporters including Randy Weaver, whose wife and son were killed along with a deputy US marshal in a 1992 shootout on Weaver’s property in Ruby Ridge, Idaho.

What happened in the Weaver case was a government instigator asked him to saw off a shotgun and asked him to do it 1/2-inch too far, thus making it illegal. It was all another government set-up, folks.

If the properties sell, the first entities to be paid would be the municipalities of Plainfield and Lebanon, which are owed property taxes....

FLASHBACKS:

"Tax evader gets 37 years in prison; Stored munitions during standoff" by Kathy McCormack, Associated Press | January 12, 2010

CONCORD, N.H. - A tax evader convicted of amassing an arsenal of weapons was sentenced yesterday to 37 years in federal prison in a hearing punctuated by him laughing and chiding the judge and prosecutors.

Strange how GOVERNMENT can do JUST THAT, huh, readers?

An attorney for Ed Brown had argued that his client suffers from a delusional disorder and asked for the minimum mandatory sentence of 30 years, saying it was enough and amounted to a life sentence for the 67-year-old Brown. Prosecutors sought a sentence of almost 50 years. US District Judge George Singal found Brown competent and said he decided on the sentence because Brown seemed unrepentant.

Why should he be when he is right?

Brown made several outbursts throughout the hearing.

Out come the pro-tax MSM's long knives.

At one point, he was removed from court when he would not be quiet during a forensic psychologist’s testimony. Singal referred to him as a 6-year-old child needing a timeout.

Later on, as Singal was sentencing him, Brown started laughing and said, “Give me 500 years sir; make yourself happy.’’ He then stood up and was escorted out of the courtroom.

Yeah, HE KNOWS the FORCES he is coming up against!

Brown and his wife, Elaine, were in a nine-month standoff with authorities in 2007 after they were sentenced to five years in prison for tax evasion. US marshals posing as supporters arrested them peacefully. The couple were convicted of the most recent charges in July.

Elaine Brown was sentenced in October to 35 years in prison.

When it was Ed Brown’s turn to address the court, he rambled on for 45 minutes about his duty to protect the Constitution and how the government has been run by Freemasons and the US attorney’s office since the Civil War.

Translation; MSM wasn't really interested in what Brown had to say -- and tossed in some "conspiracy jargon" so you wouldn't bother to investigate, either.

Just trust your Boston Globe and AmeriKan *ewsmedia -- you know, the same one that lied you into wars and keeps telling you lies?

“I didn’t realize the criminal element was them,’’ he said, saying more than once he wished he could have introduced evidence supporting his arguments.

“We haven’t hurt a soul,’’ Brown said of himself and his wife. “They attacked us. We didn’t attack them.’’

That's what government does.

He added, “We just asked a question: Show me the law about taxes from Day 1.’’

They can not: America: Freedom to Fascism

Brown began his statement by saying that no one really knew who the real Ed and Elaine Brown were, except a few supporters in court....

I believe that, and you are not going to read about them in the newspaper.

Yeah, Globe seems to leave that impression, huh?

"Tax evaders’ supporters file appeal; 3 say convictions are too excessive" by Denise Lavoie, Associated Press | May 6, 2010

Three men convicted of helping a New Hampshire couple escape capture on tax evasion charges asked a federal appeals court yesterday to overturn their convictions, arguing that prosecutors charged them excessively for their roles. The First US Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments yesterday in appeals brought by supporters of Ed and Elaine Brown.

After being convicted on tax evasion charges, the Browns refused to turn themselves in and remained holed up for months in an armed standoff at their fortress-like home in Plainfield, N.H. The Browns, who claimed that no law authorizes the federal income tax, hosted a variety of supporters, including militiamen and other anti-government groups.

The Browns were finally taken into custody in October 2007 by a small team of US marshals posing as supporters. When agents searched their home, they found it stuffed with bombs and guns....

The appeals court did not indicate when it would rule....

Even if they did I doubt the Globe would put it in print.
