Sunday Globe Special: Pasquarello's Pickle

"Couple, accused in break-in, have 5 children taken by state" by Gal Tziperman Lotan | Globe Correspondent   May 24, 2014

Woburn police on Saturday identified the husband and wife arrested after allegedly fleeing from a home break-in Friday evening with their five children in the car as Salina J. Pasquarello, 26, and Ralph M. Pasquarello, 39, both of Danvers.

Ralph Pasquarello, who, was found in a house on Mayflower Road in Woburn, according to a statement from Woburn police spokesman John Guilfoil, ran from police, who arrived in response to reports of a suspicious person about 5:30 p.m.

Pasquarello ran into a minivan driven by his wife, who led police in a chase to Lexington, Guilfoil said. Salina Pasquarello stopped the car when police cruisers pulled up in front of and behind it, he said.

The children, brought to a Woburn police station when their parents were arrested, were given to Salina Pasquarello and her mother after she was released on bail Friday night. But on Saturday Alec Loftus, a spokesman for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, said in an e-mail that the agency had removed the children from their custody.

Police charged both with felony breaking and entering into a building during the daytime, larceny, theft, five counts each of child endangerment with risk of serious bodily injury, and failure to stop for police.

Ralph Pasquarello was also charged with felony vandalism, two counts of resisting arrest, and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer. Salina Pasquarello was also charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
