"Man found guilty of fatal stabbing at 2013 party

A 22-year-old man has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a man at a party in Worcester last year. Jay Anderson of Princeton was convicted Friday in the death of Boris Velez II, 20, of Worcester. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported that the Worcester Superior Court jury deliberated about three and a half hours. Anderson faces a mandatory sentence of life with the possibility of parole after 15 years. Sentencing is scheduled for July 7. Prosecutors said Velez died at a hospital three days after Anderson stabbed him in the neck during an argument. Witnesses said friends of the two men had argued at an earlier party (AP)."

"Princeton man arraigned in fatal Worcester stabbing

A Princeton man has been ordered held without bail in the fatal stabbing of a man at a party in Worcester last weekend. Jay Anderson, 21, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a murder charge in the death of Boris Velez II, 20. Authorities said Anderson stabbed Velez after a quarrel early Saturday morning. Velez died at a Worcester hospital Tuesday. Anderson, accompanied by his lawyer, surrendered Wednesday. Anderson’s lawyer told The Telegram & Gazette that his client intends to ‘‘vigorously defend himself’’ (AP)."
