Slow Saturday Special: Billingslea’s Break-In

"Boston man indicted in rape, beating of Arlington woman" by Trisha Thadani | Globe correspondent   August 15, 2014

A Boston man has been indicted in a June home invasion and sexual assault of a woman in Arlington, authorities said Friday.

Essie Billingslea, 45, is accused of assaulting a woman in her home June 1, and he has been indicted on several charges, including aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, being a habitual offender, and being a habitual criminal, the Middlesex district attorney’s office said.

Billingslea allegedly pushed his way into the victim’s home that night, assaulted her, held a knife against her, and had a gun, prosecutors said.

Upon arrival at the scene, Arlington police found the victim injured and in obvious distress.

Billingslea’s arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.

Last year, after almost two decades in custody for a third rape conviction, Billingslea was released from a treatment center for the sexually dangerous when a jury determined he no longer posed a threat.
