Sunday Globe Special: Not

I'm finding so much of the new$paper nearly unreadable these days, and I'm sorry. I've failed you, beloved readers.

I would like to start with this at the top as it earned front page placement today:

Ukraine Crisis About to Go Nuclear

DAY 7

Back to hot:

“Cooperation aimed at preventing terrorist groups from obtaining the ingredients for a nuclear weapon is jeopardized by the diplomatic showdown over Moscow’s support of Ukrainian separatists, according to senior US officials and a range of international security analysts. The implications, they say, could be catastrophic, and the situation is cause for alarm....

But they will serve as an opportunity, as in the "terrorists" got the nuclear bomb that obliterated Chicago from.... Russia (or Iran, whatever works here)!!! "

More needs to be done to address what is called the “insider threat” in Russia, and will only add to the list of dangerous consequences of Russian aggression....

The fears are compounded by the fact that the Obama administration is proposing significant cuts in its own nuclear security budgets for next year.”

By about $150 million, a little more than half of what they ju$t whi$ked off to I$rael.

All that wasted money building those worthless things, and now more to "clean" everything up!

At least some war profiteers got rich. I'm happy.

And under the cover of the plane crash:

"In Moscow, Russia’s Foreign Ministry accused the European Union on Saturday of withdrawing a ban on supplying Ukraine with military technology and equipment ‘‘on the quiet,’’ but the EU says it announced the move openly — two weeks ago.

The EU decided at the height of violence in Kiev between government forces and protesters to ban the export for goods that can be used for ‘‘repression,’’ such as riot gear, tear gas and police batons.

That measure was lifted on July 16, said EU spokesman Michael Mann. On that day, the EU’s news release noted in a section on Ukraine: ‘‘Member states also agreed to discontinue the application of their agreement of 20 February 2014 on export licenses.’’

The West has rejected Russia’s denials that it has supplied tanks, armored personnel carriers, rockets, and other equipment to rebels in eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine has complained that its forces have been attacked by weapons based on the Russian side of the border, while the Russian ministry on Saturday renewed its claims that Ukrainian forces had fired over the border at targets in Russia."

Or maybe it will be Boston that the Russians bomb. I mean, their kids already tried to do it at the Marathon.

In every city you went — there was a big empty stadium

Somehow Atlanta is the model despite the terror attack and framing of the hero security guard by the FBI.

That is not the only empty feeling I am getting from the basket that is my front page (NDU), and to wrap it up:

"She entered their lives as a 14-year-old foster child, then known as Haleigh Poutre, who had been at the center of a passionate end-of-life court battle. Her singular story of abuse, compounded by government lapses, drew national media attention. It remains one of the darkest chapters in the state’s child-protection system. As her case receded from the headlines, the Arnetts, in the quiet of their home in Western Massachusetts, took her in....

That's why the Globe is going backward, in more ways than one.

Fortunately, something is going forward.

The CDC know [how] to ensure that there is no spread of this virus pathogen

Do they?

That is not what I meant by going forward, but I've seen the light.... I think there is already a vaccine or cure. There are limited supplies, though, and they are all for the elite in an emergency (Magic Johnson?).

Super PAC ad for Steve Grossman is a disservice

I've seen the numbers and it doesn't look good for Steve, but don't discount the rigged voting machines.

"Boston Police arrested three men and confiscated three guns, including a loaded semi-automatic weapon with an extended clip, in less than two hours overnight, according to police. At about 12:25 a.m. this morning, Drug Control officers monitoring a large party on West Main Street saw a 19-year-old Jonathan Osorio, of Mattapan, leave clutching at an object in his waist area, according to the statement. When police asked if he had something he shouldn’t, he allegedly said “Yes.” Police patted him down and allegedly found a loaded pistol, according to the statement.

At about 1:54 a.m., Drug Control officers patrolling Fields Corner in an unmarked car allegedly saw William Pritchard, 27, of Boston, whom they knew from previous encounters, carrying a large backpack and acting suspiciously, according to the statement. When police slowed to question Pritchard, he allegedly “abruptly and aggressively” unzipped his bag and reached into it “as if to suggest he was reaching for a weapon,” according to the statement. When police identified themselves, Pritchard allegedly took off running, but was arrested after a brief struggle.

About 20 minutes later, at around 2:14 a.m., a car driving ahead of gang unit officers made an abrupt stop and remained in the middle of the road. When police activated their lights and sirens and approached the vehicle, they saw two passengers allegedly ducking as if they were hiding something, according to the statement. Police found a loaded .40 caliber gun in the car, and arrested a 17-year-old man from Boston."

Impressive work, I'm told, against people who thought they were above the law (what did they think, they were part of the $upreme elite?).

"After seven people were shot in a fight outside Jalice Cafe early Saturday morning, the city’s mayor called for an investigation of the restaurant and bar as neighbors called the spot a magnet for trouble. Three men and three women in their 20s, as well as a 19-year-old man, were shot outside the bar after a fight broke out early Saturday morning, New Bedford police said."

I would try to peddle as fast as you can to get out of Boston, by boatbus, or car:

"GM, despite a long string of recalls, sold more than 250,000 vehicles last month, up 9 percent from a year ago. Roughly half that growth came from commercial buyers, but the crossover SUV market is also strong."

Time to tweet for help:

"Stronger-than-expected financial results pushed San Francisco-based Twitter sharply higher last week after the messaging service said revenue more than doubled in the second quarter. Twitter also grew its user base more than expected. Twitter posted a net loss of $144.6 million, [but] revenue was up."

Or you could hang out on campus all summer.

Sorry I'm so unhappy and not more upbeat about my Globe these days, readers. I've just run out of ideas. Sorry. I don't what else to say. Time to declare victory and get out. No more toying around with the Boston Globe.

(Btw, that reminds me of one of the problems with Hollywood today. I realized it scanning through the vast wasteland of channels the other day. So many of the movies put out these days are comic book crap, variation versions of remakes upon remakes, sequel or prequel shit, or vulgar comedies starring well-connected college failures of a certain tribe. It's probably the main reason I no longer go to see a movie on that wonderful big screen with the 3-D and all. Not worth it. I know someone will be dragging me to the LOTR movie at the end of the year, but I already read the book and know how it ends and am not looking forward to it. I'm sure it will be good and all, but....)
