COLUMBIA, S.C. — The former wife of a University of South Carolina professor came to his workplace and killed him before committing suicide, authorities said.
Sunghee Kwon, 46, shot Raja Fayad, 45, several times Thursday afternoon at the Public Health building, then fatally shot herself in the abdomen, Gary Watts, Richland County’s coroner, said.
Watts said Friday the couple divorced a few years ago but continued to live together until splitting up for good several months ago.
State Police said a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine was found near the bodies.
Fayad came to South Carolina in 2008. He taught physiology and received his medical degree in Syria.
