"Man is arrested in daylight shooting in Mattapan" by Peter Schworm Globe Staff July 01, 2015
A man was gunned down outside a Mattapan triple-decker in a brazen afternoon shooting Wednesday, sparking a lengthy foot chase that ended with police apprehending a suspect.
After the shooting, police officers approached a man who matched a description they had of the suspect, and he took off running.
Officers arrested Patrick Bishop, 22, of Boston, and charged him with assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition....
One witness, who declined to provide her name, said she heard several gunshots ring out, and initially hoped they might be fireworks. But then she heard the sirens.
Within minutes, several police cruisers had arrived on Fessenden.
“It’s crazy,” she said. “It’s usually pretty quiet around here.”
