The Return of David Woodman

Quite honestly, I was surprised to see the story.

Cops are covering this up, no doubt!

What could be TAKING SO LONG, folks?

"Woodmans return still seeking answers; Want police to release report on son's death" by Maria Cramer, Globe Staff | September 19, 2008

The Woodmans first walked past the corner of Brookline Avenue and the Fenway when their son, David, gave them a tour of the streets around Emmanuel College.

The couple drove past the same corner June 18 on their way to see David at the hospital after he stopped breathing during an arrest for public drinking.

Yesterday, nearly three months after their son died, they returned to the corner. Flanked by their son's friends, they called on police for answers about what happened between the 22-year-old Emmanuel senior and the nine officers who arrested him that night at Fenway and Brookline Avenue following the Celtics championship win.

"There are nine people who know the truth," said his mother, Cathy Woodman, who fought back tears as her husband, Jeffrey, put his arm around her. "How can they live with themselves? I can't. I have a hard time, and I didn't cause his death."

It is not the same for me; however, I remember and I post reminders from time to time!! I will never forget what happened to that fine young man!

Boston police and the Suffolk district attorney's office are investigating the death.

WTF is taking so long?

Commissioner Edward F. Davis, who has said he does not believe the officers used excessive force that night, has hired a former federal prosecutor to review the case. The FBI plans to probe the death after police and Suffolk prosecutors finish their investigation.

Officials said yesterday that they are waiting for autopsy results, which are not completed.

WTF? It has been MONTHS!!!!!!!!

Why am I smelling a COVER-UP?!!

A law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation said that Woodman's brain tissue had been examined, but the medical examiner was still waiting for results of tests on Woodman's heart. Woodman had a preexisting heart condition, but his parents have said he led an active life.

The Woodmans, who have hired a lawyer, said they believe police are trying to cover up what happened to their son. Woodman died at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center 11 days later.

No why would they want to do that, huh?

But his parents said they believe officers used excessive force that led to his death. They have pointed to the inconsistencies in the initial police reports as evidence that officials are trying to hide wrongdoing. One of Woodman's friends with him that night has said officers grabbed Woodman, who was holding a plastic cup of beer, slammed him to the ground, and ordered his friends to leave or face arrest.

See links at bottom of post.

Police have said that Woodman tried to run away from officers. They first reported that Woodman stopped breathing as they were handcuffing him. They said they immediately began giving him CPR and called for an ambulance. But the Woodmans' lawyer, Howard Friedman, said police later told emergency medical technicians who arrived at the scene that Woodman collapsed as they were talking to him.

Translation: the cops are LYING!!!!

"It makes it sound like they were just standing, talking to him, and he collapses, not that they were handcuffing him, not that they were struggling with him, but that he collapsed," said Friedman, who was not at the gathering.

Davis later said that police realized that Woodman was not breathing sometime after 12:47 a.m., as he was lying face down on the street, handcuffed. A toxicology report found that Woodman had no drugs in his system but that his blood alcohol level was .137, above the legal driving limit of .08, Friedman said.

So what? Did that deserve being slammed to the ground? How many other people were wasted that night? And if the kid was drunk (the authorities claim this, right?) he couldn't have been a threat to the cops, right? How far could he have run?

This "booze evidence" is suspect since it may contribute to his "heart problem," right? You can already see the cover-up excuses taking shape.

Yesterday afternoon, more than two dozen people, including Emmanuel College students, stood around the Woodmans on Brookline Avenue and the Fenway. They hoisted white signs that read, "Nine officers. No Answers" and "Who was served? Who was protected," in bold, black letters.

God Bless 'em! Truly, God Bless 'em!

"I'm here to support David's family," said Meghan Robb, a family friend and mother of four who drove from Kent, Conn. ". . . It's really hard as a parent to watch his parents suffer."

WOW!!!

Cathy Woodman said she and her husband decided to hold the gathering on the three-month date after the arrest to bring more attention to the death investigation.

"I miss him," she said, clutching a wet tissue. "He would do this for us. We owe it to him. He didn't deserve to die."

Here is a photo of the bereaved parents:

No, that fine looking young man did not deserve to die at all -- and I am crying now, too.

What if he were YOUR BOY, readers?

HOW WOULD YOU FEEL THEN?!!!!
