Christmas Ceiling Collapses

Literally.

"No injuries reported when ceiling section falls in mall garage" by Brian R. Ballou and Rachana Rathi, Globe Staff | December 11, 2008

As shoppers perused clothing and jewelry at the upscale Atrium Mall in Chestnut Hill yesterday morning, a large section of suspended drywall ceiling in the first-level parking lot collapsed, barely missing a woman and her 9-month-old child and crashing onto cars.

"Everything was fine, then boom, all of a sudden there was dust and debris," said the woman, who declined to give her name. She said she was a few feet away from the section of roof when it fell around 11:07 a.m.

I'm sorry, readers. I see those words, and the first thing in my head is 9/11. The truth is, until we face up to that truth and who really did it, we are going nowhere fast!

There were no injuries reported, but chunks of drywall damaged at least eight cars, Newton officials said. The thud of the crash reverberated through an area of the mall near the elevator shaft, startling store employees and shoppers. Within minutes, three fire engines, a ladder truck, and emergency crews were at the scene, sifting through the debris and dust looking for possible victims....

9/11. Hope these guys don't get as sick as those heroes.

Well, I can't go down to the Newton Mall like I planned, and I darn near don't go into downtown Boston

"Broken pipe floods streets near City Hall, impedes traffic" by David Abel, Globe Staff | December 11, 2008

A water main break beside City Hall late Tuesday night spewed hundreds of thousands of gallons of water onto nearby streets, city officials said.... It was not clear yesterday what caused the break, but Sullivan said he suspected construction work might have disturbed the soil and contributed to pressure on the pipes. --more--"

I wonder if they were coming-to or going-away pipes!!
