WASHINGTON - Drunken-driving accidents increase each year during the holiday season, and a large percentage are caused by drivers just over the legal drinking age, government officials said yesterday....

To warn motorists about the dangers of drunken driving, the government is spending about $7 million on an advertising campaign to publicize increased drunken-driving enforcement during the next few weeks.
Why? The culture seems to PROMOTE ALCOHOL enough!!! For all I know, they get a government subsidy like every other corporation!

"Man faces alcohol charges in teen's death
Police have accused a 21-year-old North Attleborough man of buying the alcohol that ended up in the hands of a Plainville teen who died after wandering away from a party. Police said Sean Flynn bought two bottles of rum for 19-year-old Brian Zuzick. Zuzick then allegedly gave one of the bottles to 17-year-old Taylor Meyer the night of the Oct. 17 party at an abandoned airport in Norfolk. Three days later, Taylor's body was found in a swampy area nearby. Flynn faces charges of procuring alcohol for a person under 21. A Dec. 24 hearing is scheduled for a clerk magistrate to decide whether there is probable cause for a criminal complaint. A call to Flynn's address was not immediately returned yesterday. Plainville police also are seeking to charge Zuzick in the case.
