"N.Y., N.J. airports address bird hazards
NEW YORK - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey plans to install bird-detecting radar at its three major airports following the emergency landing of a commercial jetliner in the Hudson River last week.
The authority wants to expand a program to keep birds from interfering with air traffic. The new radar would be able to track flock movements and allow controllers to warn pilots.
"It's something we take very seriously," Christopher Ward, executive director of the authority, said yesterday....
Makes me wonder why planes haven't been falling out of the sky with all the birds up there.
