"Putting the camp in campaigns; On Web’s stump, candidates sing, strum, shoot — and hope" by Matt Viser, Globe Staff | August 18, 2010
WASHINGTON — Campaigns are producing the spots at relatively low cost, placing their greatest premium on gimmickry. It’s often difficult to tell whether the candidates are cutting their spots with tongue in cheek or if they are genuinely serious as they perform musical numbers, brandish firearms, or ride horses....
These messages may not be adding to any meaningful campaign dialogue, but many are at least getting attention on political blogs. A lucky few have attracted millions of Web views....
But the Globe is going to write a whole front-page feature about it!
Btw, I myself, personally, am TIRED of the Globe's SELECTIVELY TELESCOPIC and MYOPIC view of the Web.
The ads have become more frequent as it has become easier — and cheaper — to produce online videos. Some candidates need no more than their home computer. In other instances, the videos are done professionally and can cost in the six figures. A pioneer of this niche campaign business is Republican media consultant Fred Davis.
In 2002, he produced a 10-minute video for Georgia gubernatorial candidate Sonny Perdue that cast his opponent as a giant rat sporting a gold crown and stomping through Atlanta ala Godzilla. Because it was made before the advent of YouTube, Davis sent VHS tapes around to the media and held a screening at a movie theater. Perdue won the election....
Blog editor's note:
The first election to entirely use machines -- and have the votes counted entirely by private, not public, officials -- was the state of Georgia. The results were strange and contradictory. Popular Democratic Governor Roy Barnes held an 11-point lead in polls just days before the election, yet lost to Republican Sonny Perdue by 5% (a 16-point swing). Incumbent Democratic Senator Max Cleeland (the Vietnam vet who lost three limbs diving on a grenade to save his buddies, and who resigned from the 9/11 Commission because he didn't want to be part of a "whitewash") led by 5 points over Republican challenger Saxby Chambliss in polls taken just before the election, yet lost by 7% on election day.
AmeriKa's FIRST STOLEN ELECTION by MACHINE!
In Tennessee, a Republican candidate for governor repeatedly refers to himself by the name of his website, “Basil Marceaux.com’’ as he advocates for doing away with all traffic stops and fining residents $10 if they don’t carry a gun. His Web presence help him win an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live and received several mentions on “The Colbert Report,’’ but he still only got 0.5 percent of the primary vote.
A Florida state representative, Mike Weinstein, created an ad using a song written by his son, who writes educational songs for children.
I'm not even going to type it.
The 2:24-minute video uses a synthesizer, teenagers doing dance moves, and an upbeat mantra of “Mike! Mike! Mike Weinstein, working hard for you and me.’’ (“It sort of makes you want to party, vote, and maybe drink some apple juice, all at the same time,’’ wrote a blogger for the Atlantic magazine.)
We know who he will really be working for -- and why the Globe is promoting him.
And what is the message likely to be across the nation this fall?
"Federal deficit will exceed $1.3 trillion, analysts say" by Associated Press | August 20, 2010
WASHINGTON — Lawmakers are expected to quickly resume their fight over whether to renew soon-to-expire tax cuts enacted a decade ago under President George W. Bush, though they may not act until after the November elections....
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
You are going to have to wake me with some MSM smelling shits.
Yesterday’s report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office largely attributed the budget woes to the wounded economy, which has shrunk federal revenue, boosted spending for low-income people, and prompted enactment of costly stimulus programs.
Yeah, the Wall Street looting and open-ended wars we have wasted trillions on have had nothing to do with it.
Yup, it was ALL YOU POOR Americans that have been thrown out of work and home.
That flushing sound you just heard was CBO's cred going down the toilet along with the rest of the government's s***.
An uptick in tax collections and a drop in spending will help this year’s deficit....
Where?
Still, the 2009 and 2010 shortfalls are the largest ever. Each is three times bigger than the government’s annual deficit had ever been before....
Yeah, THAT will NOT be an ISSUE over the next two months!
--more--"
Instead we are going to be fed RACE, IMMIGRATION, MUSLIMS, and the MOSQUE by the dog s*** MSM!
