Giving the T a Good Caning

Who would ever want to live in Boston?

"Man charged with attacking T office; Police say he used cane as a weapon" by Sean Teehan, Globe Correspondent | August 10, 2010

A Dorchester man was taken into custody yesterday after he allegedly assaulted an MBTA police officer in Dudley Square, according to a report by the MBTA Transit Police.

The officer was accosted by Henry L. Alexander while walking from his personal vehicle to the Dudley Square bus station about 7:15 a.m., the report said.

Alexander, who was escorted out of the station by the officer a week before, approached the officer, shouting at him and threatening physical violence, the report states.

Then how come the VIDEO of the report says HER, Globe?

Your reporters CAN NOT even get THAT RIGHT?

After receiving a verbal warning from the officer, Alexander walked away, and the officer left the area to dress in his uniform.

Minutes later, the officer made his way back to the area, where Alexander immediately charged him, the report said. The assailant began swinging at the officer with clenched fists, according to the report.

Not what the video shows!

WTF?

Alexander then swung a silver cane at the officer, which whizzed by his head close enough to knock his hat to the ground, the report said.

Except the HE is a SHE!

According to the report, a nearby Boston police officer saw the exchange as it moved out of the station onto Malcolm X Boulevard. He tackled Alexander, and the MBTA officer was then able to handcuff Alexander, according to the report. MBTA police transported Alexander to MBTA Transit Police headquarters.

According to Erika Gully-Santiago, a spokeswoman for the Suffolk district attorney’s office, Alexander was arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, threatening, and resisting arrest.

He was held on $2,500 cash bail and ordered to stay away from the Dudley Square bus station.
