Israeli Trying to Hook Head IMF Job

"Israeli bank governor seeking IMF job" by International Herald Tribune, June 13, 2011

FRANKFURT — Stanley Fischer, governor of the Bank of Israel, has added his name to the list of candidates to be managing director of the International Monetary Fund.

A renowned economist credited with stabilizing the Israeli shekel, Fischer also spent seven years as first deputy managing director of the IMF.

Yes, they were the ONLY COUNTRY to escape the worldwide downturn and ACTUALLY GREW during that time. Draw your own conclusions.

But he seemed to acknowledge he has only a slim chance of being chosen....

Sometimes you do haul up a fisch, though.

Fischer also had a distinguished academic career, writing economics textbooks and serving as head of the economics department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was also chief economist at the World Bank from 1988 to 1990 and vice chairman of Citigroup.
