"Ashland man faces terrorism charges; FBI alleges plan to fly explosives into Capitol, Pentagon" September 29, 2011|By Milton J. Valencia, Globe Staff

ASHLAND - An Ashland man who holds a physics degree from Northeastern University was charged yesterday with an Al Qaeda-inspired plot to send a remote-controlled aircraft carrying explosives into the Pentagon and the US Capitol “to kill as many people as possible,’’ according to a complaint filed in federal court.

Okay, if he holds a physics degree he knows buildings don't fall down that way due to jet fuel fires. It's an impossibility due to the immutable laws of physics.

And is this an in-your-face laugher regarding remote aircraft a limited hang out as to what may have occurred (and what I always believed until recently) that day? Or can you really believe what you saw on your TV?

One thing is certain: I no longer believe my morning newspaper.

Rezwan Ferdaus, 26, a US citizen whose only known previous crime was vandalism, told FBI agents working undercover as Al Qaeda members that he wanted to “change the world,’’ according to the complaint.

Oh, no, HERE WE GO AGAIN with the FALSE-FLAG FRAME-UPS of ANOTHER PATHETIC PATSY!

“I just can’t stop; there is no other choice for me,’’ he told the agents, according to an affidavit written by FBI Special Agent Gary S. Cacace.

“This is what we have to do. This is the righteous way … to terrorize enemies of Allah,’’ he said, calling for the deaths of any kafir, the Arabic term for nonbeliever.

Federal officials said that at no point did Ferdaus have sole control of explosive materials, such as C-4, or guns and that he was closely monitored by the FBI during his alleged plotting in the past year....

That's when I stopped reading this pos.

"At mosque, suspect’s views led to ouster; Ashland man described as disaffected, bitter
September 30, 2011

The Ashland man who allegedly plotted to fly explosive-laden, remote-controlled airplanes into federal buildings in Washington, D.C., was asked to leave a Roxbury mosque last year because of his radical Islamic views and suspected support of Al Qaeda, a mosque official said yesterday.

Rezwan Ferdaus was said to revere the terrorist organization, and he criticized the mosque’s participation in interfaith efforts and in politics. He also disapproved of the mosque’s liberal policies that allowed men and women to eat and drink together in its cafe and was hostile toward women he thought dressed inappropriately or who had conversations with men, the official said.

“We said, ‘Look, that’s not going to work here,’ ’’ said Atif Harden, director of institutional advancement at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center. “I can’t think of a mosque where he was welcome. He was clearly way out of step with the rest of the Muslim community … very disaffected, very disturbed. Just a bitter, angry guy.’’

Sigh.

***********************

Prosecutors say that Ferdaus, 26, a US citizen who holds a physics degree from Northeastern University, had hatched a plan to launch three explosive-laden, remote-controlled planes, each the size of an adult’s body, into the Pentagon and the US Capitol “to kill as many people as possible.’’

Uh, EXCUSE ME?

He wanted to use (ha ha) MODEL AIRPLANES to FOMENT a COUP?

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!!

He allegedly planned to launch them from East Potomac Park, and a six-man team would then shoot at anyone fleeing the buildings.

“Once we cut off the military, we can take care of the politicians,’’ he allegedly told undercover agents.

Prosecutors say Ferdaus delivered detailed plans of the attack in the spring to two FBI agents who were posing as Al Qaeda recruiters, and he asked for their help in acquiring the planes, C-4 explosives, and AK-47 assault rifles. He acquired one plane in August. The agents delivered the guns and 25 pounds of explosives Wednesday to Ferdaus, who put them in a storage unit he had rented in Framingham. Once he closed the doors to the unit, the agents arrested him.

Prosecutors said Ferdaus also sought to impress the men he thought were recruiters by giving them 12 cellphones rigged to act as switches for an improvised explosive device. He allegedly appeared gratified when he was told that one of the detonation devices succeeded in killing three US soldiers and injuring at least four others, exclaiming, “That’s exactly what I wanted,’’ according to the indictment.

Ferdaus said he was inspired by Al Qaeda and its teachings by watching videos and reading websites, and he realized how evil America had become. He spoke ardently of the psychological blow his plan would have on the American psyche.

This is STINKING of such RANK PROPAGANDA it is SADDENING!!!

And note how the propaganda machine inserts a small truth amongst all the crap -- unless you do not consider mass-murder and torture based on lies evil.

He wanted to, in his words, “change the world,’’ according to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court.

Terrorism and national security specialists said that Ferdaus represents a growing security concern in the United States about young American Muslims being radicalized by Al Qaeda propaganda, who then work on their own to carry out attacks. That includes plans to bomb skyscrapers in Dallas, Denver, and Chicago, to attack the New York subway system, as well as the Fort Hood attacks two years ago.

So who i$ going to get the contract$?

“The link we’re seeing between these attacks is the ideology, an ideology that says it’s OK to use extreme acts of terrorism to support that ideology,’’ said Dana Janbek, a former research associate at the Middle East Institute who has taught and written extensively about terrorism and national security....

Or invade people of a steaming crock of s*** lies!!!!

James Forest, a professor of national security and terrorism studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, added that Ferdaus appears to have crossed the line from being someone who talked about attacks to someone who was actively working to carry them out, and who had the smarts - and eventually the help of what he thought were Qaeda accomplices - to do so.

“When you show signs of going operational, by committing resources, carrying out a plot, that would be the trigger switch to attempt to thwart that effort,’’ Forest said. “It’s dangerous knowledge. He’s now putting himself in a position to kill people.’’

Questions remain, Forest and Janbek said, about when and how Ferdaus started to turn radical.

Ferdaus’s arrest alarmed some in his hometown of Ashland, a suburb west of Boston where he lived with his parents and a younger brother in a sprawling home. He was described as the type to keep to himself, though he played drums in local bands. He quoted Gandhi and promoted peace in his yearbook....

Oh, NOW I'M ANGRY!!!  Yup, you SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING! If you even DARE DEFY GOVERNMENT ORTHODOXY and LIES and DARE SPEAK in favor of NONVIOLENT NONCOOPERATION with the EMPIRE you are a "potential terrorist!!"

Ferdaus graduated with a physics degree from Northeastern in 2008. There, he was the musician everybody called Rez, who dressed like a grungy beatnik, professed a do-it-your-own-way philosophy, and avoided conflict and confrontation, said a former college friend.

Oh, no, not another "pious" CIA-duh clown!

He was eccentric but “never said anything violent or destructive in any way,’’ said Steven Gumeny, who met Ferdaus in their freshman year. “It was always more of a peace and love vibe that his group had going.’’

I'm just wondering how they got to him.

Still, Ferdaus held strong opinions and liked to point out society’s flaws. “Things like, ‘You don’t have to do things the way society wants you to do,’ would be something he stood for, I think,’’ Gumeny said.

Yup, then you are a "terrorist," sieg heil.

In college, Ferdaus was the drummer in a Latin/funk dance band, Goosepimp Orchestra. A cached version of the band’s Web page says that Ferdaus, nicknamed Bollywood, was the original drummer in 2004.

But, the page states, “Rezwan then moved on to become a devout spiritual practitioner.’’

According to prosecutors, his beliefs at some point turned radical....

I'll bet it was about the same time he encountered the FBI men.

"The FBI Again Thwarts Its Own Terror Plot" by Glenn Greenwald, Salon  |  September 29, 2011

The FBI has received substantial criticism over the past decade -- much of it valid -- but nobody can deny its record of excellence in thwarting its own Terrorist plots.  Time and again, the FBI concocts a Terrorist attack, infiltrates Muslim communities in order to find recruits, persuades them to perpetrate the attack, supplies them with the money, weapons and know-how they need to carry it out -- only to heroically jump in at the last moment, arrest the would-be perpetrators whom the FBI converted, and save a grateful nation from the plot manufactured by the FBI.

Last year, the FBI subjected 19-year-old Somali-American Mohamed Osman Mohamud to months of encouragement, support and money and convinced him to detonate a bomb at a crowded Christmas event in Portland, Oregon, only to arrest him at the last moment and then issue a Press Release boasting of its success.  In late 2009, the FBI persuaded and enabled Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, a 19-year old Jordanian citizen, to place a fake bomb at a Dallas skyscraper and separately convinced Farooque Ahmed, a 34-year-old naturalized American citizen born in Pakistan, to bomb the Washington Metro.  And now, the FBI has yet again saved us all from its own Terrorist plot by arresting 26-year-old American citizen Rezwan Ferdaus after having spent months providing him with the plans and materials to attack the Pentagon, American troops in Iraq, and possibly the Capitol Building using "remote-controlled" model airplanes carrying explosives.

None of these cases entail the FBI's learning of an actual plot and then infiltrating it to stop it.  They all involve the FBI's purposely seeking out Muslims (typically young and impressionable ones) whom they think harbor animosity toward the U.S. and who therefore can be induced to launch an attack despite having never taken even a single step toward doing so before the FBI targeted them.  Each time the FBI announces it has disrupted its own plot, press coverage is predictably hysterical (new Homegrown Terrorist caught!), fear levels predictably rise, and new security measures are often implemented in response (the FBI's Terror plot aimed at the D.C. Metro, for instance, led to the Metro Police announcing a new policy of random searches of passengers' bags).   I have several observations and questions about these matters:

"At N.H.’s center, a town with a nose for winners; It’s uncanny, but as goes Ashland, so goes the state in GOP presidential primaries. It’s a perfect perch to gauge the political free-for-all of 2012" by Sarah Schweitzer Globe Staff / October 2, 2011

ASHLAND, N.H. - Often, feisty independence drives decisions. Ashland voters were among those in the state who gave the nod to outlier presidential contenders John McCain in 2000 and Patrick Buchanan in 1996....

Looks like Ron Paul country.

Ron Paul gave soft sells to the crowd the other night when the local Republican committee held its monthly spaghetti supper at the Legion, an all-you-can-eat affair with garlic bread, tossed salad, and a dessert table piled with pink sugar cookies, brownies, and cupcakes....

Folks here hazard guesses why their little town mirrors the state’s conservative political soul.

Uh-oh.

There’s its geographical position, lying smack in the middle of the state. (Officially, the center of New Hampshire is in neighboring New Hampton, but people in Ashland still claim the distinction, with T-shirts for sale at the Dollar and More store in the old L.W. Packard & Co. wool mill that declare, “Middle of Nowhere.’’)

Or maybe it’s the way that Ashland comprises so many of New Hampshire’s economic facets with its shuttered mills, lake houses, modern factories churning out gaskets and wooden shoe trees by the highway, and restaurants that cater to the Boston ski crowd headed north to Waterville Valley.

Like much of the state, Ashland has weathered the recession relatively unscathed. Property tax collection rates have stayed steady at 95 percent; one town position was eliminated and later restored.
But food pantry and welfare expenses have ticked up in recent years, and town officials are looking for new revenue streams, like charging $1 for a dump sticker- among other moves that have met with resistance from residents who say they have no more to give in these times.

More fundamentally, some sense that Ashland’s peak may have passed, with the once plentiful mill jobs gone. To be sure, Ashland’s last mill - L.W. Packard’s - was comparatively late to depart for China, in 2002. But as in other mill towns, thousands of empty square feet remain, awaiting a white knight to transform the space into condos or a restaurant, and today many residents work out of town....

Well, I don't think of Ron Paul as a white knight; he is simply far better than the other agenda servants auditioning for the job.
