"14 dead as truck carrying illegal immigrants crashes in Texas" by Christopher Sherman | Associated Press, July 24, 2012
McALLEN, Texas — A pickup truck overloaded with illegal immigrants veered off a highway and crashed into trees in rural South Texas, killing at least 14 people and leaving nine injured, authorities said Monday.
Federal immigration agents were looking into the human smuggling aspect of the case, while public safety authorities investigated the cause of the Sunday evening crash in Goliad County, about 150 miles northeast of the border with Mexico.
The pickup, crammed with 23 immigrants from Mexico and Central America, crashed less than an hour’s drive from the site of the nation’s most deadly immigrant smuggling case, where 19 immigrants died in 2003 after being placed in a sweltering trailer....
This is what the global economy hath wrought.
The truck was registered in Houston to someone other than the driver, said Gerald Bryant, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety. A woman who answered at the address where the truck was registered said she was the daughter of the man listed as the owner. But she said they had sold the truck and it was no longer theirs. Asked when the sale took place, she hung up.

A Department of Public Safety accident reconstruction team was investigating the crash, but Bryant said it could be another week or two before its work concluded....
It is not uncommon for human traffickers to try to maximize profits by overloading vehicles with illegal immigrants as they head north from the Texas-Mexico border.
Just another commodity. That's all we are now to the masters, no matter what our skin color.

In April, nine Mexican immigrants died near the border when the teenage driver of their van crashed after fleeing Border Patrol. There were 18 people in that minivan.

"Tire is blamed in deadly Texas crash" by Christopher Sherman | Associated Press, July 25, 2012
McALLEN, Texas — A pickup truck’s front tire that apparently had come apart was probably the cause of a weekend crash on a rural South Texas highway that claimed its 15th victim Tuesday, authorities said....
Crashes of vehicles overloaded with illegal immigrants moving north from the border occur periodically, often as they attempt to evade authorities. In April, nine Mexican immigrants died near the border in a crash fleeing Border Patrol officers.

Judging from the hits I failed.
Time to take another turn-off.

"Texas man gets 40 years in stand-your-ground case" June 28, 2012
HOUSTON — A man who contended that Texas’s version of a stand-your-ground law allowed him to fatally shoot a neighbor after an argument about a noisy party was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years for murder.
Raul Rodriguez, 46, a retired firefighter, was angry about noise from a birthday party. He went over and got into an argument with Kelly Danaher, 36, and two other men....
What is wrong with Americans these days? The inconsiderate behavior and the reaction? You wanna shoot someone shoot a banker.
During the trial’s punishment phase, neighbors, former co-workers, and his former wife testified that Rodriguez was abusive, a bad neighbor, and that he once shot a dog.
But I see he was an American hero.
Texas’s version of a stand-your-ground law is known as the Castle Doctrine.
Actually, I do ascribe to that view, and so did the founders.
It was revised in 2007 to expand the right to use deadly force.
The new version allows people to defend themselves in their homes, workplaces, or vehicles....

Of course, if the cops blow you away in AmeriKa that's a different story.
McALLEN, Texas — A father and son were charged Thursday with shooting a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent in South Texas, prosecutors said Thursday.
Pedro Alvarado, 41, and his 18-year-old son Arnoldo were charged with assault of a federal officer and knowingly using and carrying a firearm during a violent crime. Both appeared before a judge Thursday morning. They face up to 20 years in prison if convicted on the assault charge and a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison on the weapons count.
The agent, Kelton Harrison, was shot early Tuesday while conducting surveillance on an anticipated drug deal at a property near Hargill, 25 miles northeast of the border town of McAllen. Harrison required surgery but is expected to fully recover.
Time to end the insanity and legalize.
Arnoldo Alvarado told authorities that his father spotted what he considered a suspicious vehicle and told him and another person ‘‘to get the guns,’’ according to a criminal complaint. The third person was a minor who was not named in the complaint and has been turned over to state authorities.
The three got into a car and approached the other vehicle with their lights off. The minor fired six times at the vehicle using a .22-caliber rifle and Arnoldo Alvarado fired twice with a 9-millimeter handgun, the complaint says.
Harrison then drove away and Pedro Alvarado chased after him, it says. Arnoldo Alvarado continued to fire his handgun at Harrison’s vehicle, the complaint says.
Harrison eventually lost control of his car and was discovered, shot and injured, by other agents. Authorities subsequently searched a home in Hargill and arrested the two men and the minor.

"Texas jury convicts Saudi bomb plot suspect" June 28, 2012
AMARILLO, Texas — A Saudi man accused of buying chemicals online and attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction was found guilty Wednesday in federal court.
Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, who was legally in the United States on a student visa, was arrested in February 2011 after federal agents secretly searched his apartment near Texas Tech University in Lubbock and found bomb-making chemicals, wiring, a hazmat suit, and clocks.
Authorities also discovered Aldawsari’s journal, handwritten in Arabic, in which he wrote he had been planning a terror attack for years and that it was ‘‘time for jihad,’’ or holy war, court documents show....
Can't they come up with a new script for all these psy ops?
‘‘It’s always disappointing when you lose, but at the same time, it was a very difficult case at the outset,’’ defense attorney Dan Cogdell said Wednesday. ‘‘We did the best we could under the circumstances.’’
Uh-huh.
