"Geithner reportedly leaving in Jan." by Hans Nichols  |  Washington Post, January 04, 2013

WASHINGTON — The White House chief of staff, Jack Lew, remains the leading contender for the Treasury job, the people said.

But because Lew’s experience in financial markets is thin, they said, Obama may seek to name a Wall Street executive as the deputy treasury secretary....

And in with the lew:

"Obama likely to tap Lew for Treasury" by Jackie Calmes and Annie Lowrey  |  New York Times, January 10, 2013

WASHINGTON — Despite weeks of speculation that Jacob J. Lew would be named Treasury secretary, Republicans have not signaled that they will stage the kind of opposition they put up to Obama’s potential nomination of UN Ambassador Susan Rice for secretary of state, and Chuck Hagel as secretary of defense....

Translation: Israel has no problem with the Jew Lew having the key to the U.S. treasury.

Lew had a brief turn in the financial industry before joining the Obama administration four years ago. He worked at the financial giant Citicorp....

But his experience is thin.

Ummm, could we please stop with the lies, contradictions, or mixed messages, please, you pos media?

Not that he would have taken the job, but why didn't Obama offer it to someone like Ron Paul, huh? Wants to be all bipartisan and solve problems, well, he blew it again, didn't he?

Good enough to get the job:

"Obama nominates Lew as secretary of Treasury" January 11, 2013

WASHINGTON — Chief of staff Jacob L. Lew’s confirmation will now go before the Senate, where some opposition is beginning to form. Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont who caucuses with the Democrats, criticized Lew’s time working as a hedge fund manager at Citigroup.

I remember someone saying it's Wall Street government, and here is the proof.

“As a supporter of the president, I remain extremely concerned that virtually all of his key economic advisers have come from Wall Street,” Sanders said in a statement. “In my view, we need a Treasury secretary who is prepared to stand up to corporate America and their powerful lobbyists and fight for policies that protect the working families in our country. I do not believe Mr. Lew is that person.”

Why did Ralph Nader just spring to mind?

Yup, he will be the one signing your money, kids.

"Most students not proficient in writing, test finds; 2011 results are first for students using computers" by Christine Armario  |  Associated Press, September 15, 2012

Just a quarter of eighth and 12th grade students in the United States have solid writing skills, even when allowed to use spell-check and other computer word-processing tools, according to results of a national exam released Friday....

The remainder showed just partial mastery of these skills....

There was also a gender gap, with girls scoring 20 points higher on average than boys. Those who qualified for free and reduced price lunch, a key indicator of poverty, also had lower scores than those who did not....

Kathleen Blake Yancey, a professor at Florida State University who served on the advisory panel for the test, said one factor is that research shows most students in the United States don’t compose at the keyboard.

‘‘What they do is sort of type already written documents into the machine, much as we used to do with typewriters four decades ago,’’ she said.

Yancey said for this reason there was some concern about having students write on the computer as opposed to by hand....

You can still be Treasury Secretary, kids.
