"Gunman kills 2, self at Marine school" by Trip Gabriel and James Dao | New York Times, March 23, 2013
QUANTICO, Va. — Three staff members of the US Marines’ officer training school are dead after a gunman killed himself and two colleagues, a man and a woman, officials said Friday.
The shootings occurred inside a barracks, Taylor Hall, on the Marine Corps base here, said the base commander, Colonel David W. Maxwell.
The names of the dead were not immediately released, nor did Maxwell suggest a motive, pending an investigation. An official identified the gunman as a sergeant, the male victim as a corporal and the female victim as a lance corporal.
Other officials said the episode was not thought to be a mass shooting or terrorism.
The mood was somber on the base and in the surrounding community Friday, with many people describing the Marine Corps as a close-knit community, already saddened this week by the deaths of seven Marines in an explosion at a weapons depot in Nevada.
