Release of Illegal Immigrants Linked to Sequestration

Honestly, I expected more than politics-as-usual from the Obama crowd.

"US border more secure, but still porous; Levels of control vary greatly along the line" by Damien Cave  |  New York Times, March 03, 2013

PENITAS, Texas — The border fence behind Manuel Zamora’s home suggests strength and protection, its steel poles perfectly aligned just beyond the winding Rio Grande. But every night, the crossers come. After dark and at sunup, too, dozens of immigrants scale the wall or walk around it, their arrival announced by the angry yelps of backyard dogs.

“Look,’’ Zamora said early one recent morning, ‘‘here they come now.’’ He pointed toward his neighbor’s yard, where a young man in a dark sweatshirt and white sneakers sprinted toward the road, his breath visible in the winter dawn. Three others followed, rushing into a white sedan that arrived at the exact moment their feet hit the pavement.

‘‘I don’t know how the government can stop it,’’ Zamora said, watching the car drive away. ‘‘It’s impossible to stop the traffic. You definitely can’t stop it with laws or walls.’’

The challenge has tied Congress in knots for decades, and as lawmakers in Washington pursue a sweeping overhaul of immigration, the country is once again debating what to do about border security.

By every indicator, illegal migration into the United States has fallen tremendously — in part because of stricter immigration enforcement — and has held steady at lower levels for several years.

Then why is it all of a sudden so urgent?

But visits to more than a half-dozen border locations over the past two years show that the levels of control vary significantly along the line.

Many areas that used to be popular crossing points have experienced undeniable improvements.Other sections of the border have seen less progress.

The government-wide spending cuts that went into effect Friday could make things worse.

It is increasingly clear to those who live along the boundary with Mexico — or who try to protect it — that there is no such thing as a completely secure border, just as there are no cities without crime.

And no states without gun violence, but.... (sigh).

Even in areas with towering walls and drones or helicopters overhead, border security can be breached.

A waste of money, unle$$ you received the contracts.

‘‘The US border with Mexico is better controlled than at any time in our history,’’ said Robert C. Bonner, who served under President George W. Bush as the commissioner of the US Customs and Border Protection. But, he said, there is a lack of understanding among policymakers and the public about the challenge.

‘‘The terrain can be quite different depending on what part of the border you are talking about, and there are different ways, different tactics really, that need to be brought into play,’’ he said. ‘‘And this requires almost mile-by-mile analysis.’’

Residents have become increasingly concerned about security as Mexican drug gangs seized the business of moving people and narcotics....

Part of the problem is that the fences and walls cover a limited area in the Rio Grande Valley sector — just under 54 miles staking out a relatively straight boundary near the 316 curving miles of river border. And even within the fenced area, because of the riverfront farms and parks, there are several gated openings.

Ochoa says she sees drug loads at least once a week — usually large pickup trucks with bales of marijuana in the back barely covered with a tarpaulin. Immigrant crossings occur almost every night, usually in groups of 10 to 20 people.

Yet Border Patrol officials say they are doing more than ever. In the 1990s agents here recall not having a budget to keep their gas tanks full. Now staffing levels in the sector have more than tripled, to about 2,500 agents.

Additional intelligence comes from drones and helicopters, along with cameras set up by the state to track wildlife.

Yeah, the tyranny was to try and save the animals.

"US frees 2,000 illegal immigrants

The Homeland Security Department released from its jails more than 2,000 illegal immigrants facing deportation in recent weeks due to looming budget cuts and plans to release 3,000 more in March. The figures, cited in internal budget documents, are higher than the ‘‘few hundred’’ illegal immigrants that the Obama administration last week acknowledged had been released. It said they were low-risk, noncriminal detainees."

Does this administration ever stop lying?

Of course, we should be celebrating illegals:

"Seder celebrates 100th year of Jewish civil rights group" by Jeremy C. Fox  |  Globe Correspondent, March 04, 2013

The ceremony was themed “A Nation of Immigrants” and celebrated the disparate customs and shared struggles of immigrants new and long-established, from many nations and cultures. Among the more than 400 attendees who packed the Campus Center Ballroom at the University of Massachusetts Boston, Jewish yarmulkes mixed with the hijabs of Muslim women and turbans of Sikhs.

Mayors Thomas M. Menino of Boston and Setti Warren of Newton presented the Anti-Defamation League with proclamations lauding the organization’s century of opposing discrimination against Jewish people, immigrants, and minorities of all kinds.

In an interview, Menino said the league plays an important role in quickly addressing hate crimes and issues of discrimination when they arise....

Gross.

The ADL Hates Our Freedoms

"The 21st century reveals the ADL has evolved into more than just an American Jewish lobby masquerading as a civil rights organization, but an un-American Israeli lobby, that smears patriots as extremists, racists and anti-Semites, if they as individuals or as part of groups, dare criticize the history of Jewish War Crimes Against Humanity waged by the Israeli government and Jews upon Arabs living in the occupied State of Palestine and surrounding region. The ADL even publishes dossiers on their web site as a fear-smear tactic to intimidate, discredit and silence people that criticize Jewish racism, hate and chauvinism. One hundred years after its birth, the Anti-Defamation League and AIPAC have become the vanguard of the all pervasive and politically powerful racist Jewish Nationalist (Zionist) movement, that conspicuously promotes one set of values for Western nations like America and another for Israel. The proof of this culture of fear is that no politician can ever get elected to US Congress or stay there, who openly takes the side of Palestinians as victims of the core middle east conflict of ethnic cleansing conducted by Israel, enabled via U.S. military equipment and financed with American tax payer dollars."

And I'll bet you didn't know that the ADL was a supremacist Jew hate group that was founded to defend a murdering Jew pedophile, did you?

And why would you? It's not like the Jewish controllers of AmeriKan media and school curriculum are going to enlighten you.

Like several others at the Seder, Menino spoke in support of inclusion for the gay and lesbian community, in addition to ethnic and religious minorities.

Then it all became clear.

The five-term mayor said he agreed with statements released Friday by blogger Maureen Dahill and state Representative Linda Dorcena Forry, candidates for a South Boston state Senate seat, calling on organizers to welcome gay and lesbian groups to the neighborhood’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.

“I’ve been a strong advocate of that for years,” Menino said. “When they banned gays from marching in the parade, I said I’m not going to be there. And I haven’t been there since.”

The Seder included performances and speakers representing many cultures and several generations, telling stories of immigrants who survived against long odds and worked hard to build new lives while learning a new language and unfamiliar customs.

They are so much better than you, lazy American.

Among the performers were Adrin Levy, 13, and her sister Avia, 9, who sang with a group of fellow students from the MetroWest Jewish Day School in Framingham. Adrin Levy said she was glad to see an example of harmony rather than tension between Jewish and Muslim people.

More common than you might think.

“You always see the negatives,” she said. “This really put it in more of a positive light.”

That's because I read a Boston Globe.

Probably has something to do with it, too.

The girls’ mother, Debka Janak, said her daughters are exposed to multiple cultures and languages at home. She was born in South Africa and later met their father, an Israeli of Syrian descent, while traveling in Colombia.

“When we have our big dinners at Thanksgiving and Passover, the American-born ones are in the minority,” Janak, 41, said.

Robert Trestan, acting regional director for the league, said the day was all about diversity. “For this Seder, it was really important to make sure that everyone was represented,” Trestan said. “Our goal is to secure justice and fair treatment for everyone.”

You can start with Palestinians.

But that's not good enough for AmeriKa or the rest of the racist world?

Amar Sawhney, an entrepreneur and a member of the Sikh community based around a Milford temple, attended the annual Seder for the first time but said he had been to several Seders at the homes of Jewish friends.

Sawhney said the Jewish and Sikh people have experiences of hardship and discrimination in common.

“I’m an immigrant. Being in the company of immigrants — many of whom had a much harder time than I’ve had — is enlightening and humbling,” Sawhney, 46, said of the Seder. “We stand for equality and nondiscrimination, so . . . the cause of the ADL really resonates with the Sikh community.”

Sikh subversives.
