Sunday Globe Special: Vodka Leads to Vileness

Then I'm vine because I never touch the vile stuff; however, the solution should be simple. If guns lead to gun violence then alcohol leads to child sexual abuse and we must prohibit alcohol like we do pot. Case closed.

"Marlborough man sentenced to prison for raping boy, 12" by Alyssa Creamer |  Globe Correspondent, November 09, 2013

A Marlborough man was found guilty Friday of one count of aggravated rape of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said.

A Middlesex Superior Court jury in Woburn found Daniel Correia, 39, of Marlborough, guilty of the charges, and Superior Court Judge Douglas Wilkins sentenced Correia to 10 to 12 years in prison, to be followed by five years of probation, according to a statement released by Ryan’s office.

In an unrelated case, an Easton man was arrested Thursday night and charged with statutory rape, following a two-month police investigation, Easton police said in a statement.

Christopher Biggins, 30, was charged with statutory rape of a child, enticing a child under the age of 16, and distribution of a counterfeit drug after he agreed to meet with a minor to exchange the drug Molly for sexual favors, police said.

The charges against Correia resulted from a case on Feb. 17, 2011, the district attorney’s statement said, when he gave a 14-year-old boy vodka while he and a few friends were hanging out at Correia’s apartment. The pair spoke about their age differences, and despite this, Correia engaged in sexual activity with the child, the statement said. The next evening, Correia again gave the victim vodka at his apartment, said the statement, and later that evening, the victim told his mother and a friend.

“This defendant gave a 14-year-old alcohol and then took advantage of him sexually,” Ryan said in the statement. “His actions were purposeful and deliberate and evidenced a total disregard for a vulnerable young person. It can be extremely difficult to disclose abuse and I commend the victim’s willingness to tell authorities and a jury what happened.”

The statement added that during the first three years of his probation, Correia must wear a GPS monitoring device. He also must not have any contact with witnesses or any unsupervised contact with anyone under 16 years of age. He is also required to complete a sex offender evaluation and treatment while complying with the regulations of the state’s Sex Offender Registry Board.
