"Senate report finds torture did not help in hunt bin Laden" by Bradley Klapper | Associated Press April 01, 2014
WASHINGTON — A Senate investigation concludes that waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods provided no key evidence in the hunt for Osama bin Laden, according to congressional aides and outside analysts familiar with a still-secret 6,200-page report. The finding could deepen the worst rift in years between lawmakers and the CIA.
The CIA disputes the conclusion and already is locked with the Senate intelligence committee in an acrimonious fight amid dueling charges of snooping and competing criminal referrals to the Justice Department.
The public may soon get the chance to decide, with the congressional panel planning to vote Thursday to demand that a summary of its review be declassified.
From the moment of bin Laden’s death almost three years ago, former Bush administration figures and top CIA officials have cited the evidence trail leading to the Al Qaeda mastermind’s walled Pakistani compound as vindication of the ‘‘enhanced interrogation techniques’’ they authorized after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Dishonest in one thing, dishonest in all things -- and they have been dishonest on so many things.
I can't take this Al-CIA-Duh and bin laden did 9/11 mind manipulation and reinforcement anymore, and as for 9/11, whatever happened down there it wasn't Muslims that did it; it was Israel and her helpers in various western governments and intelligence agencies that did.
Who are the "terrorists" again?
But Democratic and some Republican senators have called that account misleading, saying that simulated drownings, sleep deprivation, and other such practices were cruel and ineffective.
The intelligence committee’s report, congressional aides and outside experts said, backs up that case after examining the treatment of several high-level terror detainees and the information they provided on bin Laden. The aides and people briefed on the report demanded anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly about the confidential document.
The most high-profile detainee linked to the bin Laden investigation was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused 9/11 organizer, who was waterboarded 183 times.
Then those "confessions" need to be tossed because that has to be a world record!
Mohammed, intelligence officials have noted, confirmed after his 2003 capture that he knew an important Al Qaeda courier with the nom de guerre Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti.
Do they just make up these names or what?
****************
The debate over how investigators put the pieces together is significant because years later, the courier led US intelligence to the sleepy Pakistani military town of Abbottabad. There, in May 2011, Navy SEALs killed bin Laden in a secret mission.
Didn't they make a movie that rewrote the story for the greater good?
Just blame Plame, I guess.
The CIA also has pointed to the value of information provided by senior Al Qaeda operative Abu Faraj al-Libi, who was captured in 2005 and held at a secret prison run by the agency....
A FUBAR alibi?!! Makes me laugh!
Now they hold them offshore for torture!
The aides did not address information provided by yet another Al Qaeda operative, Hassan Ghul, who was captured in Iraq in 2004. Intelligence officials have described Ghul as the true linchpin of the bin Laden investigation after he identified Kuwaiti as a critical courier.
Message: torture works, and Iraq was connected to 9/11!

If the torture doesn't stop the next 9/11, well, they will just have to stop doing it because it doesn't work.
How else can they build up 9/11 in the public consciousness, especially with Flight 370 still missing?
"Senator Schumer urges WTC security review" | Associated Press March 31, 2014
NEW YORK — Senator Charles Schumer stood by the World Trade Center on Sunday, demanding that federal officials review security after daredevils twice sneaked to the top of the site’s signature, 104-story skyscraper.
Schumer’s request comes after a teenager was charged with climbing to the top of the 1,776-foot spire of 1 World Trade Center, three skydiving enthusiasts turned themselves in to face charges in a September jump off the building, and a newspaper published a photo of a guard apparently sleeping on the job.
The New York Democrat wants the Department of Homeland Security to monitor the performance and training of trade center security guards, in addition to testing surveillance equipment and checking the perimeter for possible illegal entry points.
Schumer said the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the 16-acre site, is responsible for any security breaches.
‘‘They’re the public authority in charge of this; I’m holding them responsible,’’ Schumer said during a news conference on Sunday.
In statements Sunday, Port Authority security chief Joseph Dunne called the lapses ‘‘unacceptable’’ and invited Homeland Security officials to tour the site again ‘‘in light of recent security breaches.’’
Dunne said the Port Authority and the Durst Organization, which manages 1 World Trade Center and provides private security for the building still under construction, ‘‘have taken significant steps’’ to address the lapses.

Be careful up there:
"In a separate development, New York police said they are investigating an apparent murder-suicide on Staten Island. An 86-year-old man shot his grandson in the head, killed the grandson’s girlfriend, and then took his own life because he believed the couple was taking advantage of his ailing daughter and living in her home, the grandson said Sunday."
Fires have been a pretty hot story lately (good thing they live in a haven), but not hot enough to melt steel beams or turn remains into dust.
