"Police arrest two men for allegedly committing sex offenses on MBTA; Accused of lewd behavior in T station, train" by Jacqueline Tempera | Globe correspondent April 29, 2014
Two men pleaded not guilty to sexual offense charges in Boston Municipal Court Monday after they were arrested by MBTA Transit Police in separate incidents this month, Suffolk prosecutors said.
Anthony Peppe, 68, was charged with indecent assault and battery after he allegedly groped a woman at Park Street station, according to the office of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.
Prosecutors said a woman reported a man had touched her inappropriately as she boarded a Green Line train at the station.
Another passenger told Peppe to leave the victim alone, and then all three entered the train without incident, prosecutors said.
Peppe listed a homeless shelter as his address, Conley’s office said.
Peppe was held on $5,000 cash bail, and he was ordered to stay away from the MBTA. Peppe must also wear a GPS monitoring device if he posts bail, prosecutors said.
In the second incident, Richard Johnson, 48, of Boston was charged with open and gross lewdness after he allegedly exposed himself on a Red Line train Sunday, prosecutors said.
He was held on $500 cash bail and ordered to stay away from the transit system, prosecutors said.
