"GOP demands say on stimulus; Obama cites 'urgent' need; Republicans see waste in haste" by Joseph Williams, Globe Staff | January 3, 2009
WASHINGTON -
President-elect Barack Obama:
"We can't just fall into the old Washington habit of throwing money at the problem."
Yeah, unless it is at CORPORATIONS, BANKS, WAR LOOTERS, or ISRAEL.... but if it is for PEOPLE, well then, they gotta crawl right up your ass!
Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the top Republican in the Senate, said in a statement yesterday that he agrees with Obama that jump-starting the economy "is job one." But he insisted that "every dollar needs to be spent wisely and not wasted in the rush to get it spent."
Yeah, as long as we don't scrutinize the ponies, 'eh, Mitch?!
"The tax package includes several elements sought by powerful lawmakers, including a tax break for race horse owners important to Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate minority leader"
Citing Obama's promise to eliminate waste by scrutinizing the federal budget "line by line," McConnell said Republicans want to do the same thing to the stimulus bill, "page by page, line by line - eliminating those programs we don't need, and insisting that those we do operate in a sensible cost-effective way."
I wish you assholes would have felt that way about the WALL STREET LOOTING, er, BAILOUT!!! So you guys just lied about all the safeguards and oversight, huh?

Yesterday, a group of influential Democratic governors pressed the federal government for a $1 trillion stimulus package for the states over the next two years that would include $250 billion for education in an effort to avoid inflicting irreversible damage to schools during a fiscal crisis.
The proposal, crafted by Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts and others, would set aside $350 billion for a wide array of infrastructure projects, including road and bridge construction; extending the reach of Internet broadband; affordable housing; and energy efficiency....
Of course, it's okay to be "flushing . . . millions of dollars away supporting a highly profitable industry" when it comes to $300 million in taxpayer dollars for Hollywood is o.k., even as the price of a school lunch rises; paying $13 million for a computer software system that could have cost less than $3 million is all right because the winner was a close friend of the House speaker, even as my poorer-than-dirt district "has been struggling to close a $2 million budget gap."; the lottery shelling out "millions of dollars" for sports tickets for "lottery officials, their family members, and friends" is fine, even as schools are closing; making interest payments to banks to the tune of "a staggering $22 billion" for the Big Pit, as we call it around here, is required, even as bridges are neglected across the state; and again, paying off banks like UBS, who can "demand repayment of an additional $2 million a month beginning in January" while also receiving a "$179 million payment," while the state pension fund loses $1 billion dollars -- which still didn't stop the executive director from carving himself a nice "$64,000 bonus on top of his $322,000 annual salary."
Yup, the BILLION DOLLAR GIVEAWAY to the pharmaceutical corporations was a GOOD THING, even though "it's never been easy to turn a profit in biotech?" Flush that money away, too, taxpayer.
And look whose backs they are balancing the budget with: the blind, mentally ill, kids, and cripples!!
Of course, "one of the governor's pet projects, the $3 million Commonwealth Corporation, is only taking a 5 percent trim."
And that is not counting the troubles at the Turnpike!
"The authority was attempting to renegotiate terms of a complex financial deal with the banking giant UBS. Known as a swaption, the arrangement could force the authority to pay out a $450 million lump sum"
Of course, the war looters were next in line for a handout. And should the state be appropriating money for a "multimillion-dollar reconstruction" of golf courses?
Nor is it RECKLESS to BORROW the STATE INTO OBLIVION so they can PAY INTEREST to BANKS while SITTING ON $2 BILLION DOLLARS!
Need one final insult, Mass. taxpayers?
"Town officials... are trying to decide how much of a property tax break to offer and how they can secure state funding for infrastructure improvements.... although it could take several years for the studio to realize its potential"

Sorry, that wasn't it:
"$5m in tax breaks going to IBM for Littleton project
The Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council approved $5 million in state and local tax breaks for IBM Corp., which recently began a $63 million expansion in Littleton. IBM vice president Bob McDonald said the company plans to create 42 jobs at the site over the next decade. McDonald said the computer giant, based in Armonk, N.Y., has already begun renovating a building and hopes to move into it next month. McDonald said the tax incentives were important, but the company would have gone forward with the expansion without them. IBM has 4,000 employees in Massachusetts, including about 2,000 in Littleton (Boston Globe October 30 2008)."
Yup, but the BANKRUPT FEDS have to bail us out!!!
Since his historic election in November, the economy has dominated Obama's agenda. He has a full schedule next week in Washington, and despite his insistence that there is only one president at a time, his team could have the appearance of an administration in waiting.
Yeah, the ONE PRESIDENT at a time seems to apply ONLY to GAZA and ISRAEL!!
However, a White House spokesman yesterday said he doesn't see the Obama team as a parallel administration....
WTF kind of talk is this?
Is it just me, or does BUSH NOT REALIZE his TIME is ALMOST UP?
I mean, it IS almost up, right, 'bamer?
If HE decides to STAY (for whatever reason) you will STAND UP for YOUR OFFICE, right?
'bamer?"
In a letter sent Tuesday to House Democrats, Pelosi outlined an agenda that calls for passing an economic stimulus plan "with deliberate speed." Her agenda includes a Wednesday meeting with economic heavyweights such as Robert Reich, President Clinton's labor secretary, and Mark Zandi, an influential economist. The meeting, she wrote, will be to discuss ways "to safeguard as many as three million jobs by making needed investments in infrastructure, alternative energy, science, and other emerging sectors and providing middle-class tax cuts."
How come you guys didn't do that when you passed the bank bailout? How come the PEOPLE are STILL WAITING, huh -- especially if the crisis is so serious!?
Former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers - Obama's choice for his top economic adviser - lobbied for the president-elect's plan with an op-ed piece published Sunday in The
"In this crisis, doing too little poses a greater threat than doing too much," Summers said. "Any sound economic strategy in the current context must be directed at both creating the jobs that Americans need and doing the work that our economy requires."
But Republican opposition could complicate or delay Obama's plans. Boehner, McConnell, and others say they are concerned that the president-elect's proposal could add as much as $1 trillion to the already massive federal deficit and lacks enough detail to get it passed by Jan. 20.
"There is no bill to pass. That's one of our concerns," said an aide to one top Republican, accusing Democrats of moving to ramrod a bill through Congress whether Republicans agree or not. He said Congress spent a week debating the name of a post office and should to devote more time than that to a spending bill.
That is what they are doing down there -- other than writing taxpayer checks to looting corporations?
But Van Hollen said Republicans will have a seat at the table when the stimulus package is created and reminded his GOP colleagues to heed the message voters delivered in the election less than two months ago....
Translation: because of the MSM and power structure, you will be UNABLE to CRITICIZE the great new leader as he implements the globalists' plans!
"5 governors unite, seek $1 trillion in federal aid" by Matt Viser and Andrew Ryan, Globe Staff | January 3, 2009
Governor Deval Patrick and four other influential Democratic governors pleaded their case yesterday for up to $1 trillion in federal assistance over the next two years, to help alleviate budget cuts, create jobs, and avoid inflicting irreversible damage to schools during a fiscal crisis.
Yeah, God forbid we get Big Pharma or Hollywood to give back some of their taxpayer loot for the schools, huh?
"The assistance would be mammoth for us," Governor David Patterson of New York, which is facing a $15.4 billion deficit, said during an afternoon conference call with reporters.
Hoping that President-elect Barack Obama will use a federal stimulus package to dampen the steady stream of negative budget-cutting headlines, the governors said they were asking for $350 billion for infrastructure projects, $250 billion for education, $150 billion for middle-class tax cuts, and $250 billion in funding for programs such as Medicaid, food stamps, and unemployment benefits.
I'm just wondering WHERE is that money coming from? Printed by the Fed and then LOANED to us, HUH?
The outline of a $1 trillion infusion of federal funds over two years, an outline they said had not been endorsed by the incoming Obama administration, is higher than levels previously discussed. It is unclear what the final price tag would be and what restrictions would be placed on the money....
Yeah, the ONLY ONES who don't face restrictions are WAR PROFITEERS, BANKS, and ISRAEL!
Patrick has already been preparing for the federal stimulus, and two weeks ago unveiled $4.7 billion in state infrastructure projects that could be jump-started immediately. Patrick contended that the work would create "hundreds of thousands" of jobs, although some have criticized that number as an exaggeration....
Yeah, it is an "exaggeration" from the excuse-making paper, not a LIE!!!!!! That's what happens when the media LIKES YOU!!!
