WASHINGTON - The compensation for Raytheon Co.'s chief executive rose 6 percent during 2008, according to a regulatory filing yesterday of the nation's fifth-largest defense contractor.
William Swanson received a pay package worth $15.86 million, according to an analysis by the Associated Press of the Waltham, Mass.-based company's proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Swanson's 2007 compensation totaled $14.96 million. The pay included a base salary of $1.33 million, about $99,000 higher than the year earlier.
Swanson received no bonus, but was awarded $3 million in incentive pay. He also received $491,000 worth of perks that included use of the company jet and a Raytheon-leased car, home security services, and travel costs for his wife to attend Raytheon-related events at the company's request....
