Around AmeriKa: The Navy and North Carolina

No, I'm not thirsty, thanks.

"Navy relents on Camp Lejeune water study" by Associated Press | February 20, 2010

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Navy has agreed, after months of fighting, to fund a study into the health effects of past water pollution at Camp Lejeune....

Yup, the WORST POLLUTER in the world FOUGHT their poisoning of you!

When is AmeriKa going to realize that its war machine is not about defense or protecting them?

The Associated Press obtained a copy of the Navy’s letter yesterday....

That means they were given it, readers -- but obtained make it sounds like they really worked for it.

Health officials believe as many as 1 million people may have been exposed to tainted water at the base before the wells were closed two decades ago.

Inquiry urged on Marine base tap water" by Associated Press | February 19, 2010

WILMINGTON, N.C. - A North Carolina congressman said yesterday that he wants an investigation into reports that levels of a cancer-causing chemical in tap water at a Marine Corps base were downplayed and then omitted from official documents.

It's called a COVER-UP!

Oh, yeah, support the troops.

Democratic Representative Brad Miller called for the investigation by his House science subcommittee yesterday - a day after the Associated Press reported on new documents that indicate massive fuel leaks at Camp Lejeune and high concentrations of benzene found in a water well there in 1984....

Looks like more than just the Navy having poison problems:

"Army looks at 5 in poison allegations" by Associated Press | February 20, 2010

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Army has been investigating five soldiers at its largest training base since December over allegations that soldiers’ food may have been poisoned, but officials said yesterday that no one was ever in any danger.

No, no, you can have my lunch, sir.

You sure it wasn't spoiled slop served up by Halliburton or KBR?

While an Army spokesman at the Pentagon said the investigation involved allegations of poisoning in the installation’s food service, a spokesman for Fort Jackson in South Carolina would say only that the investigation involves five soldiers and their “potential verbal threats against fellow soldiers.’’

????????

******************

On Thursday, the Army confirmed that the investigation began in December.

Army Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Garver said the allegations involved soldiers’ food being poisoned. He said no credible information to support those allegations has been found....

WTF is this? Another cover-up or crap report?

Besides training most entry-level soldiers, Fort Jackson is host to a variety of schools, such as the military’s center for all the Air Force, Navy, and Army chaplains and its school for drill sergeants.

Roll on, war machine, roll on with the country you defends self-destructs from within.
