Giving you what the Globe has been giving me:

"Opposition might challenge Ethiopian vote count in court" by Associated Press | May 24, 2010

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Members of Ethiopia’s opposition said they might contest the results of yesterday’s national election in court after reports of intimidation and vote-rigging, hoping to avoid the violent street clashes that marred the last poll five years ago and left nearly 200 dead.

The election in Africa’s third most populous nation is being closely watched by international observers, and by critics who say the US-allied ruling party has harassed voters and challengers....

Is that why this never received a follow-up in the Glob?

When it's our guys cheating it's okay, right?

The largest opposition bloc, Medrek, complained of intimidation soon after yesterday’s vote began. Spokesman Negasso Gidada said some of his party’s observers had been blocked and arrested in northern Ethiopia, and others had been intimidated in southern Ethiopia....

Another opposition candidate, Hailu Shawel, also said observers had been turned away yesterday in different parts of the country.

Government spokesman Bereket Simon, however, said he was not aware of any election-related problems.

Must not have been then, seeing as I never saw another word.

"Fund cuts hurt AIDS fight in Africa" by Associated Press | May 28, 2010

JOHANNESBURG — Doctors are being forced to turn away people with HIV/AIDS in eight African countries as donors cut funding amid the global economic crisis, an aid group said yesterday.

Obama Abandons Africa to AIDS

Yeah, our tax money needs to go for wars, banks, Israel, and political perks, pensions, and health plans.

Medecins Sans Frontieres, or Doctors Without Borders, said the patients being rejected will fall ill and almost certainly die without treatment.

Maybe that is the whole idea, hmmm? Less useless eaters on the planet.

The group called on rich countries to fulfill their obligations to poorer nations, saying the funding cuts threaten to unravel years of progress on the continent hardest hit by AIDS.

Message: Governments really don't care bout people despite their high talk.

The MSF study looked at AIDS programs in Congo, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, and found the effects of funding cuts widespread.

MSF said the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria — a major, independent supporter of AIDS programs around the world — was under pressure from the wealthy governments that pay for it to cut back.

The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, a US program that is a major funder of AIDS programs around the world, has had its budget nearly frozen at a time of increasing need, MSF said.

"US activist held in Rwanda tried suicide, prison says" by Associated Press | June 3, 2010

MINNEAPOLIS — A US law professor jailed in Rwanda and charged with denying the country’s genocide tried to commit suicide by swallowing dozens of pills in his prison cell, Rwandan officials said yesterday, but his daughter said his family doesn’t believe the claim.

What I DO BELIEVE is he is CIA!

Otherwise he WOULD NOT BE MAKING my NEWSPAPER!

Peter Erlinder, 62, a professor at the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, has long been a sharp critic of the central African nation’s president and helped file a suit accusing the onetime rebel leader of sparking the slaughter that erupted there in 1994.

The professor, who has a history of taking on unpopular causes, was arrested about a week after going to Rwanda to help with the legal defense of Victoire Ingabire, an opposition leader running against President Paul Kagame in Aug. 9 elections.

He must have been a defender of Israel.

Ingabire is accused of promoting genocidal ideology.

Yeah, that's Israel AND its mouthpiece media: full of Jewish Supremacism.

Erlinder is accused of violating Rwanda’s laws against minimizing the genocide in which more than 500,000 Rwandans, the vast majority of them ethnic Tutsis, were massacred by Hutus in 100 days.

He doesn’t deny massive violence happened but contends it is inaccurate to blame just one side.

Now if you said this in Europe and your name was Zundel or Irving.....

Police said Erlinder swallowed 45 to 50 pills.

"Nigerian court to hear child-bride case" by Associated Press | June 5, 2010

ABUJA, Nigeria — A federal court will hear a case over whether the West African nation’s religious freedom and privacy laws allow a Muslim senator to marry a 13-year-old girl, the latest rift in a country split between Christians and Muslims....

"Independent paper launches in Zimbabwe" by Associated Press | June 5, 2010

HARARE, Zimbabwe — NewsDay said in yesterday’s promotional issue that it will not fall prey to “hate, divisiveness, abhorrent propaganda and personality cults’’ — tactics it believes the state-run media uses....

Hey, that is the SPITTING IMAGE of the AmeriKan jewspapers!

“We shall endeavor to report the news for Zimbabweans whose collective voice has systematically been drowned out the din of slogans and abhorrent propaganda,’’ wrote publisher Trevor Ncube.

LOOKS like the BLOGS, doesn't it, dear readers?

A new media licensing authority formed by the coalition government has also approved two other independent dailies that will start publishing in coming weeks. The last independent daily paper was banned by Mugabe’s government in 2003, allegedly for bias toward opposition groups now in the fragile power-sharing government.

Before the ban on The Daily News, its printing presses were wrecked in a bombing in which military explosives were used and its downtown offices were the target of a grenade attack.

Investigations into those attacks were never concluded and no arrests were made.

Since sweeping media laws were enforced in 2003, scores of journalists have been arrested, harassed, and assaulted.

I suppose that would happen here if they were really doing their job and not acting as stenographers for government liars.
