"Facing opposition from China, US and South Korean officials relocated the drills from the Yellow Sea.... but the carrier may be back. “We reserve the right to exercise in international waters anywhere in the world,’’ said Rear Admiral Daniel Cloyd, the top US official in the exercise."
How ARROGANT, 'eh, world?
So THAT is why Barak REALLY came over here, huh?!

"US presses ahead despite N. Korea’s warning; Supercarrier will take part in joint maneuvers" by Eric Talmadge, Associated Press | July 25, 2010
BUSAN, South Korea — A massive nuclear-powered US supercarrier readied yesterday for maneuvers with ally South Korea in a potent show of force that North Korea has threatened could lead to “sacred war.’’
South Korea’s Defense Ministry said yesterday that no unusual North Korean military movements were detected after the North threatened to respond with “powerful nuclear deterrence’’ to joint US and South Korean military exercises this weekend.
The military drills, code-named “Invincible Spirit,’’ are to run today through Wednesday with about 8,000 US and South Korean troops, 20 ships and submarines, and 200 aircraft. The Nimitz-class USS George Washington, with several thousand sailors and dozens of fighters aboard, was deployed from Japan.
Is all that necessary for a sick and starving country?
Early yesterday, North Korea’s National Defense Commission — headed by leader Kim Jong Il — promised a “retaliatory sacred war’’ against South Korea and the United States for what it called a second “unpardonable’’ provocation. The first, it said, was wrongly accusing the North of sinking the Cheonan, a South Korean warship.
The North routinely threatens attacks whenever South Korea and the United States hold joint military drills, which Pyongyang sees as a rehearsal for an invasion.
I would see it that way also if I were a North Korean.
The United States keeps 28,500 troops in South Korea and 50,000 others in Japan, but says it has no intention of invading the North.
Like our word on that is worth anything.
Still, the North’s latest rhetoric carries extra weight after the Cheonan sinking that killed 46 sailors. Seoul and Washington say a North Korean torpedo was responsible for the March sinking....
Yeah, when it is THEIR RHETORIC, not OURS!!!
Un-flipping-real!
The American and South Korean defense chiefs announced earlier in the week they would stage the military drills to send a clear message to North Korea to stop its “aggressive’’ behavior.
The exercises will be the first in a series of US-South Korean maneuvers to be conducted in the Sea of Japan off Korea’s east coast and in the Yellow Sea closer to China’s shores in international waters. The exercises also are the first to employ the F-22 stealth fighter — which can evade North Korean air defenses — in South Korea.
So the WHOLE FALSE FLAG sinking was about EXPANDING the EMPIRE, cui bono?
South Korea was monitoring North Korea’s military, but no unusual activity had been observed yesterday, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.
Yeah, you already told us that!
North Korea, which denies any involvement in the sinking of the Cheonan warship, has warned the United States against attempting to punish it.
“The army and people of the DPRK will legitimately counter with their powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises to be staged by the US and the South Korean puppet forces,’’ North Korea’s official news agency quoted an unnamed government spokesman as saying. North Korea’s official name is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Though the impoverished North has a large conventional military and the capability to build nuclear weapons, it is not believed to have the technology needed to use nuclear devices as warheads.
Its rhetoric regarding using nuclear deterrence was seen by most as bluster, but its response to the maneuvers underscores the rising tensions in the region.
I wish ours was just bluster and not the mass-murdering killing sprees they have become.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced Wednesday, after visiting the Demilitarized Zone dividing the two Koreas, that the United States would slap new sanctions on the North to stifle its nuclear ambitions and punish it for the Cheonan sinking.
On Friday, the European Union said it, too, would consider new sanctions....
Following our lead like the poodles they are.
"War games draw no action from N. Korea; Naval, air drills illustrate South’s alliance with US" by Chico Harlan, Washington Post | July 26, 2010
Yeah, too bad the North Koreans didn't react, huh?
TOKYO — Taking their boldest step since the March sinking of the Cheonan warship, the United States and South Korea began a massive joint military exercise yesterday designed to show off power and solidarity in a region divided by tensions.
The military muscle-flexing came in spite of opposition from China and threats from North Korea.
The war games are customary drills for US and South Korean forces, but this operation, code-named “Invincible Spirit,’’ involved substantial firepower — an intended deterrent against reckless behavior from Pyongyang, US officials said....
Unless they are conducted by the "enemy."
“The point of [the exercise] is . . . send the message to the North Koreans that their behavior is completely counter to international norms, completely unacceptable,’’ Admiral Mike Mullen, Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, said last week....
This is the same nation defending Israel's war-criminal murders on the high seas?
Give the Admiral a one-fingered salute, will ya?
To put on the military fireworks display, the United States and South Korea dispatched some 20 ships, 200 aircraft, and 8,000 sailors and airmen to the Sea of Japan.
But no one should feel threatened.
Btw, America, do YOU REALLY HAVE MONEY to WASTE doing this nonsense?
WAR GAMES COST MONEY and DEPLETE EQUIPMENT!
The drills will showcase, most notably, a small fleet of F-22 stealth fighter planes and the USS George Washington, a 97,000-ton nuclear-powered aircraft carrier with about 5,000 sailors and aviators and the capacity to carry up to 70 planes.
All for a dirt-poor country?
According to a report in the South Korean media, an exercise involving antisubmarine bombs — designed to prevent incidents similar to the Cheonan sinking — will take place later this week.
Oh, WATCH OUT for ANOTHER FALSE FLAG, folks!!
North Korea has denied any role in the March 26 torpedoing of the warship, which killed 46 South Korean sailors. Earlier this month, the UN Security Council condemned the sinking but did not directly blame North Korea.
That is because THEY DIDN'T DO IT!
Turns out it was an ISRAELI SUB that did the sinking!
South Korea and the United States had discussed these drills for months but postponed them until after the Security Council finished its deliberations.
Facing opposition from China, US and South Korean officials relocated the drills from the Yellow Sea, west of South Korea, to the Sea of Japan to the east.
Subsequent military exercises planned during the coming months could take place in the Yellow Sea, in international waters that China considers its doorstep.
Beijing continues to protest that possibility. “We resolutely oppose any activities in the Yellow Sea that may threaten China’s security,’’ said a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman.
Just as WE WOULD if China were doing drills in the Gulf of Mexico (well, not now).
Nuclear-capable North Korea, with 1.5 million troops and weapons pointed at Seoul, has said that the US-South Korea joint exercise threatens the security of the region and has warned of a “retaliatory sacred war.’’
North Korea routinely responds to the drills with threats of aggression.
Acting like Israel.
Last year, Pyongyang demanded cancellation of the joint exercises and said the provocations could lead to war. But North Korea, facing political uncertainty as ailing Kim Jong Il prepares a power transfer to his son, now has increased reason to seek confrontation with the United States and South Korea, according to specialists and political analysts.
Actually, that is a LIE!
If anything, the OLD MAN wants a STABLE TRANSFER of POWER!
Then again, should I expect anything else from the lying, war-promoting paper.
Rear Admiral Daniel Cloyd, the top US official in the exercise, said he was confident the United States could respond to any threat. He said no significant action by the North’s military had been observed....
Tired of the MSM BS yet?
In what has been seen as a bow to Chinese sensitivities, the George Washington will not be joining the maneuvers later this summer in the Yellow Sea.
But Cloyd said the carrier may be back. “We reserve the right to exercise in international waters anywhere in the world,’’ he said.
Yes, the EMPIRE is ABOVE ALL, world -- and the U.S. is SOUNDING MORE LIKE ISRAEL all the time!!!!
And TELL THAT ONE to the SOMALI PIRATES sitting in jails!
"Words, war games mark Korean truce anniversary" by Eric Talmadge, Associated Press | July 28, 2010
ABOARD THE USS CURTIS WILBUR — On the 57th anniversary of the armistice that ended the Korean War, US and South Korean ships intensified high-profile military exercises yesterday that underscore rising tensions in a region yet to find lasting peace.
The massive maneuvers, called “Invincible Spirit,’’ are being conducted by an armada of South Korean and US ships — including the USS George Washington supercarrier — in international waters off the South Korean coast.
The normally quiet patch of the East Sea has been a buzz of military activity — with helicopters dropping sonar buoys into the waters, squadrons of carrier-based F-18 fighters embarking on bombing runs, and destroyers blasting their guns at unmanned aerial drones....
Seems like a lot of overkill and waste to me.
