"France announces war on Al Qaeda after hostage killed; Decision, attack reflect shift for discreet nation" by Elaine Ganley, Associated Press | July 28, 2010

PARIS — France has declared war on Al Qaeda after the terror network killed a French aid worker it took hostage in April.

The declaration, made yesterday, and a French attack last week on a base camp of the terror network’s North African branch marked a shift in strategy for the nation, usually discreet about its behind-the-scenes battle against terrorism.

“We are at war with Al Qaeda,’’ Prime Minister François Fillon said yesterday, a day after President Nicolas Sarkozy revealed the death of hostage Michel Germaneau, 78.

The humanitarian worker had been abducted April 20 or 22 in Niger by Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and was taken to Mali, officials said.

Wouldn't drones be able to destroy them in that wide-open desert?

And you sure he wasn't a reporter?

The killers will “not go unpunished,’’ Sarkozy said in unusually strong language, given France’s habit of employing quiet cooperation with its regional allies — Mauritania, Mali, Niger, and Algeria — in which the Al Qaeda group was spawned amid an Islamist insurgency.

The Salafist Group for Call and Combat formally merged with Al Qaeda in 2006 and spread through the Sahel region — parts of Mauritania, Mali, and Niger.

I've had it with the Al-CIA-Duh crap, haven't you?

NOT FOOLING ANYONE ANYMORE!!!

Not even the people that don't care!

Their reaction to my raising of another "terrorist event" is that of WTF after a decade of war.

No, there will be no rally 'round the rubble this time.

If anything there will be RIGHTEOUS RAGE at the FAILURE to PROTECT US after SO MANY LIES!!!!

Officials suggest France will activate accords with these countries to hinder the terrorists.

“It’s a universal threat that concerns the entire world . . . not just France or the West,’’ Defense Minister Herve Morin said on France-2 television....

F*** off, Frenchie!

Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, and Niger in April opened a joint military headquarters deep in the desert to respond to threats from traffickers and the Al Qaeda offshoot. US Special Forces have helped the four nations train troops....

Actually, they are one in the same:

"Al-CIA-Duh" School in Somalia

Yeah, that is their "base" of operations.

On Thursday, the French-backed Mauritanian forces attacked an Al Qaeda camp on the border with Mali, killing at least six suspected terrorists. It is the first time France is known to have attacked an Al Qaeda base.

France said it was a last-ditch effort to save its citizen, while Mauritania contended that it was trying to stop an imminent attack by fighters gathering at the base.

For the French, the move may have backfired.

It always does.

The Al Qaeda group said in an audio message broadcast Sunday that it had killed Germaneau in retaliation for the raid. French officials suggested, however, that the hostage, who had a heart problem, may already have been dead. Even now, “We have no proof of life or death,’’ Morin said.

Yup, that is the way I see it.

So which hotel did French intel billet him?

“We can expect an increase in the French riposte,’’ said Antoine Sfeir, an expert on Islamist terrorists.

Ever notice it is NEVER CHRISTIAN, HINDU, or JEWISH terrorists in the Zionist-controlled newspaper?

An estimated 400 to 500 such fighters are thought to roam the Sahel region, a desert expanse as large as the European Union.

That's it?

Despite meager numbers, the region’s Al Qaeda fighters pose a threat.

I think you are over the Qaeda quota for this article, AP.

Among the more recent victims, a British captive was beheaded last year and two Spanish aid workers were taken hostage in Mauritania in November. Spain is working to free them. Mauritanian soldiers also have fallen in numerous attacks....

Other killers France is finding:

"French police find bodies of 8 newborns" by Associated Press | July 29, 2010

PARIS — A French couple was in custody yesterday after police found the corpses of eight newborns in a village in northern France, a judicial official said.

The official said that the detained couple were the parents of the dead babies and that the corpses were found on two different parts of their property in Villers-au-Tertre, not far from the city of Lille....

Police cordoned off the house with yellow-and-black tape and continued to search the area yesterday. The house stood with its doors and windows shuttered last night.

France has seen a string of cases in recent years of mothers killing their newborns and hiding the corpses.

Why not just get an abortion, right?

In one case, Celine Lesage was sentenced in March to 15 years in prison after acknowledging in court that she killed six of her newborns, whose corpses were found in plastic bags in her basement in northwest France.

She doesn't wear a veil, does she?

Another Frenchwoman, Veronique Courjault, was convicted last year of murdering three of her newborn children. Her husband discovered two of the corpses in a freezer while the two were living in South Korea. During the trial psychiatrists testified that she suffered from a psychological condition known as pregnancy denial.

Germany also has seen similar cases. In one, a woman was convicted of manslaughter in 2006 and sentenced to the maximum 15 years in prison for killing eight of her newborn babies and burying them in flower pots and a fish tank in the garden of her parents’ home near the German-Polish border.

You sure they weren't Jewish remains of Nazi atrocities?

This is GRUESOME, folks, and for once I wouldn't have minded a one-day (or none-day) wonder. Instead I get....

"French woman charged in deaths of 8 babies" by Associated Press | July 30, 2010

VILLERS-AU-TERTRE, France — A French woman accused of suffocating eight of her newborns and concealing their corpses in the garden and garage of her home has been charged with manslaughter, a prosecutor said yesterday.

Not murder?

Dominique Cottrez, a 46-year-old nurse’s aide with two grown daughters, said that after a bad experience with her first pregnancy she never again wanted to see a doctor.

I'm sure it wasn't that great a deal for the little lives you snuffed out!

What a TERRIFYING EXIT for an INFANT!!

She acknowledged delivering the babies herself and placing the corpses in plastic bags, investigators said.

She buried two of the newborns in the garden and hid the other bodies in the garage, prosecutor Eric Vaillant said.

“She explained that she didn’t want any more children and that she didn’t want to see a doctor to take contraceptives,’’ he said.

Aren't there OPERATIONS or OTHER METHODS so that you DON'T PUMP OUT EIGHT MORE for MURDER?

How HORRIFYING!!

I'd rather read about the 'terrorists."

"French court advances suspects’ rights" by Washington Post | July 31, 2010

PARIS — In focusing on suspects’ rights, the Constitutional Council was bucking a hard-line trend set by President Nicolas Sarkozy, a security-minded conservative who repeatedly has urged a tough approach to law enforcement.

Even if they are
racist, readers.

Hours before the ruling was announced, for instance, Sarkozy called for broadening minimum sentences and stripping nationalized immigrants of their citizenship if they are convicted of attacking a police officer or government official.

Under Sarkozy’s leadership, first as interior minister and since 2007 as president, the number of people taken into custody and questioned without charges has exploded....

Sig heil! Sig heil!

All swear allegiance to Sarkozy's Vichy reg.... oh, sorry, readers.

Sometimes -- actually, happens a lot -- the paper takes me back to a different time.

Suspects are being judged on the basis of evidence gathered during such forced interrogation, rather than during a broader investigation that would rely more heavily on witnesses and physical proof.

And we all know how well torture works when wanting to find out the truth, right?
