Europe Under an Iron Veil

The cause of all their problems.

"Poll suggests Europeans OK with ban on veils" by Associated Press | July 10, 2010

PARIS — While most Americans oppose banning face-covering Islamic veils, most western Europeans questioned in a new global poll say the garments should be forbidden — especially in France, where a ban may soon be a reality.

Several European countries have been considering bans on such veils, with special attention on France, home to Western Europe’s largest Muslim community and a strongly secular government.

No Free Speech in France

Well, that depends.....

The lower house of France’s Parliament is expected to approve a divisive bill Tuesday that would make it illegal to wear full-face veils in public. The government said such veils oppress women.

But not the missiles and poisonous military hardware littering the lands where they live and killing their loved ones. We call that liberation!

Only a very small minority of French Muslim women wear veils such as the niqab or burqa, and many French Muslims fear a ban would stigmatize the whole Islamic community.

See: Making a Mountain Out of a Molehill in Muslim France

Ever notice my divisive, Muslim-hating Zionist newspaper helped 'em build it?

A survey by the Pew Global Attitudes Project found that 82 percent of French respondents support a ban. The poll found 71 percent support in Germany, 62 percent in Britain, and 59 percent in Spain.

You have Muslim hordes, we have Mexican hordes.

In the United States, 28 percent of those questioned said they would back a ban....

Despite the relentless Zionist propaganda!

Yeah, there are ways around the iron curtain of the AmeriKan MSM.

You are looking at one of them.

Time for the strip show:

"France’s lower house bans Islamic veils" by Edward Cody, Washington Post | July 14, 2010

PARIS — The French Parliament’s lower house passed a sweeping but constitutionally vulnerable law yesterday barring women from wearing full-face Islamic veils anywhere in public.

The National Assembly’s decision, by a 335-1 vote, was scheduled for a vote in the Senate in September.

Gee, you would think they are the U.S. Congress passing sanctions against Iran for Israel.

If ratified, the law will make France the second Western European nation after Belgium to ban outright what has become the most prominent symbol of the growing Muslim presence across a continent steeped in traditions of secularism and Christianity.

Anyone remember the Crusades?

Related: Bedlam in Belgium

Didn't the Belgians slaughter a lot of Congolese during the 19th-century imperial wars of conquest and "spheres of influence?"

Similar laws have been discussed, but not passed, in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. In addition, several European cities have enacted municipal bans, prohibiting the veils in public buildings and imposing other restrictions.

Don't you love western intolerance?

Related: Memory Hole: How I Came to Love the Veil

Apparently by coincidence, France’s nationwide ban advanced on the eve of Bastille Day, which marks the 1789 French Revolution that gave birth to the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen and helped enshrine France as a beacon for the respect of human rights.

Then how come no one follows it?

Didn't the French have a reign of terror shortly afterward?

Oh, yeah, there was that, too.

Need to dust off that contraption and start mass-producing again 'cause its global now.

The legislation imposed a $185 fine or citizenship lessons on women caught outside their homes wearing the full-face coverings, known as a burqa in Afghanistan and a niqab in North Africa.

Part of this is so the bankrupt government can raise money!

It set a fine of $38,000 and a one-year prison term for anyone convicted of forcing women and girls to wear such veils, reflecting a widely shared conviction here that Muslim women are forced to cover their faces by their fathers or husbands....

Just wondering what you get for western war crimes there.

Justice Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie, whose office wrote and shepherded the legislation, said an outright ban was the only logical choice because the values of French society imply living with uncovered faces.

Isn't that a little conceited?

"French bill would raise retirement age" by Associated Press | July 14, 2010

PARIS — France’s government has approved a divisive draft law that would raise the retirement age from 60 to 62 in a reform to the money-losing pension system.

Labor Minister Eric Woerth presented the bill to a Cabinet meeting and later took it to the lower house of parliament, which will debate it in September.

Plans for the pension reform have already prompted protests and strikes by unions who see it as an attack on France’s social protections and fear it would penalize low-income workers.

They can afford a new War Ministry though, huh?

The pension reform is part of efforts in France and around Europe to reduce enormous government debts.

So LOOTING BANKERS can GET PAID -- and the FRENCH PEOPLE KNOW IT!!

France would still have among the lowest retirement ages in the developed world.

Yeah, they would still be getting away with whatever, right, corporate paper?

"Ahead of burial, Bosnians line street to mourn victims of Srebrenica killings" by Associated Press | July 10, 2010

Two women comforted each other yesterday among the 775 coffins of the Srebrenica victims. The burial will be held tomorrow.
Two women comforted each other yesterday among the 775 coffins of the Srebrenica victims. The burial will be held tomorrow (Amel Emric/Associated Press)."

SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina — Thousands were lined along Sarajevo’s main street yesterday while trucks bearing 775 coffins passed through on their way to Srebrenica, where the victims of Europe’s worst crime since the Nazi era will be buried.

There were pained sighs mixed with Muslim prayers when the four trucks appeared around a corner. The weeping crowd tucked white and red roses into canvases covering the coffins as the trucks drove slowly down a street sprinkled with rose water.

The 775 sets of remains, found in mass graves and identified through DNA tests, will be buried at a memorial center near Srebrenica tomorrow — the 15th anniversary of the crime.

More than 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed in Srebrenica over several days when Serb forces overran the town in July 1995.

What I have come to learn is there is much dispute about what actually occurred there.

What I find interesting is this is the one Muslim massacre the Zionist AmeriKan MSM covers -- because the Serbs were an impediment to the agenda at that time.

Let's face it, folks, they never come close to referring to USrael's slaughter of Muslims as anything of the sort;however, this does provide them public relations cover so they can claim balance, right?

And none of what I typed above is to take away from the pain and suffering of the survivors. Whatever happened, that is all too real.

Yesterday, several women screamed when the trucks stopped for a few minutes in front of the Bosnian presidency building.

People approached the vehicles and gently stroked the canvases covering the coffins.

“Let me touch him,’’ a woman screamed, pushing her way through the crowd to the truck. She then slammed her palms against the canvas and sunk on her knees. “Four of my brothers, four of my brothers,’’ she kept repeating as people around her tried to lift her up and comfort her.

“When you pray, your brothers can hear you,’’ one woman comforted her, while trying to press a bottle of water against her lips.

I thought they hated us more than they loved their.... oh, never mind.

Another elderly woman leaned against the truck with both hands as people around her were sprinkling her head with water. She wasn’t crying but did not appear to be fully aware either.

“My name is Zaha Husic, please, my two sons are here,’’ she kept telling a policewoman.

“Zaha Husic . . . Zaha Husic . . . two . . . two,’’ the woman repeated while the officer hugged her, saying, “It’s all right, take your time, I’m holding you.’’

Let it out, ladies.

"Tears flow as kin bury Srebrenica massacre victims; Anniversary of killings is also marked" by Radul Radovanovic, Associated Press | July 12, 2010

SREBRENICA, Bosnia-Herzegovina — Hoisting hundreds of coffins aloft, a line of about 60,000 people stretched for at least a mile yesterday as they honored Srebrenica massacre victims on the 15th anniversary of the worst atrocity in Europe since World War II.

A whole hillside in the eastern Bosnian town was dug out with graves, waiting for 775 coffins covered in green cloths to be laid to rest at the biggest Srebrenica funeral so far.

Still, that was less than a tenth of the estimated 8,000 Muslim men and boys executed after Serb forces overran the UN-protected town on July 11, 1995, during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.

Yeah, THEY FAILED AGAIN!!

Notice how the U.N ALWAYS FAILS ARABS, AFRICANS, ASIANS, and MUSLIMS?

“I grew up without a father and I don’t even remember him,’’ said 16-year-old Hajro Ibrahimovic.

Like SO MANY CHILDREN of U.S. SOLDIERS!!!

When the procession reached the hill, weeping relatives split off to find the graves of their loved ones.

The sound of dirt pounding against the coffins’ wooden lids echoed over the valley, as two announcers, one male and one female, solemnly read out the names of the victims being buried. The reading took 64 minutes.

That REMINDS ME of what happens on 9/11 every year here in AmeriKa!!!!

On that fateful day in 1995, some 30,000 Bosnian Muslims had flocked to the United Nations military base in the town’s suburb of Potocari for refuge. But when Serb forces came, they forced outnumbered Dutch peacekeepers to open the gates.

The Serbs then separated out the Muslim men and boys, putting them on trucks and carting them away, the vast majority never to be seen again. The Dutch peacekeepers survived.

The Srebrenica memorial center now stands across the road from that former UN base.

Andrew Gilmour, the special representative of Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in neighboring Serbia, represented the UN at the event, and other UN officials also attended. Ban plans to reaffirm the United Nations’ sorrow over what took place in Srebrenica at a commemorative event today, a spokesman said.

Is hollow.

The youngest victim buried yesterday was 14, the oldest 78, joining nearly 4,000 already buried at the memorial center. All the bodies had been excavated from mass graves and identified through DNA tests.

Related: Musical Mass Graves in the Balkans

Another 1,844 victims have been identified, but their skeletons consist only of a few bones and relatives are refusing to bury them until more fragments are found.

Several months after the massacre, Serb troops excavated the original mass graves with bulldozers and moved victims to other locations in a futile effort to conceal the evidence of war crimes. As the machines plowed up bodies, they ripped them apart and fragments of the same person can be scattered among several sites.

Before the funeral, Muslim prayers and weeping mixed with the speeches of dignitaries condemning the crimes and calling for the perpetrators to be punished — something victims’ families noted would not change the suffering they have endured....

In some cases that is good enough to close the case (see next set below).

President Boris Tadic of Serbia was the first dignitary to arrive yesterday, saying he was coming in an “act of reconciliation.’’

Now THAT IDEA I LOVE!!!

Some in the crowd yelled “Bravo, Boris!’’ while others asked “Where is Mladic?’’ — a reference to former Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic, who led the Serb troops into Srebrenica.

He DEAD, readers!

“I wish to welcome you; we are receiving you in peace,’’ Kada Hotic, a representative of the Srebrenica widows, told Tadic while he held her hands.

Mladic and former Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadzic were indicted on genocide charges in the Srebrenica massacre by the UN war crimes tribunal in 1995. Karadzic is now on trial at the tribunal in The Hague while Mladic is still a fugitive.

Some things you use the MSM veil to hide:

"Swiss authorities refuse to extradite Polanski' US protests as director is freed" by Edward Cody, Washington Post | July 13, 2010

How odd because I was just
asking about this.

PARIS — Swiss authorities freed French director Roman Polanski yesterday, deciding not to extradite him to Los Angeles to face sentencing for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977....

Hey, he's not a Catholic priest even the he poked her pooper after giving her a quaalude.

Also see
: Two sets of standards

And we know why.

Justice Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf said at a news conference that Polanski was free to leave Switzerland and return to his home in France.

So they HARBOR CHILD-MOLESTERS and
WAR CRIMINAL LOOTERS, but women can't wear the veil, huh?

Hours after the ruling was announced, Polanski’s assistant said the director had left his multimillion dollar chalet with his family. Half-empty glasses seen on a back porch indicated a hasty exit.

Widmer-Schlumpf emphasized that Switzerland’s decision was not based on a determination of Polanski’s guilt or innocence but only on the validity of the extradition request presented by the United States and what she described as Swiss national interests.

How is protecting a pervert in their interests?

Switzerland blamed US authorities for failing to provide confidential testimony about Polanski’s sentencing procedure in 1977-1978. The Swiss government said it had sought confidential testimony given by Roger Gunson, the Los Angeles attorney in charge of the original prosecution against Polanski. The United States rejected the request.

The Los Angeles County district attorney, Steve Cooley, said he was deeply disappointed by the decision and will work with US officials to try to extradite Polanski if he is arrested again. Cooley also accused the Swiss of manufacturing an excuse to set Polanski free.

Same as doing it for a war.

Herve Temime, a French lawyer who was on the team representing the director, said the ruling is “an enormous satisfaction and a great relief after the pain suffered by Roman Polanski and his family.’’

Pain suffered by him? By him?

He didn't get a pecker in the pooper!!!!

The decision constituted a victory not only for Polanski but also for a broad array of European intellectual and political figures who had come to his defense with petitions and statements of outrage denouncing the effort to continue prosecution after so many years.

That is shameful and unbelievable. They are DEFENDING HIM?

Polanski’s backers, ranging from fellow directors to French culture and foreign ministers, criticized US and Los Angeles judicial authorities for seeking what they called crude revenge against a major artist who deserved more respect.

For what?

Some suggested Switzerland had heeded the extradition request only to relieve US pressure against Swiss bank secrecy laws....

Polanski was wanted for fleeing the United States three decades ago on the eve of a 1978 sentencing hearing in Los Angeles. The hearing was part of a plea bargain in which Polanski acknowledged having sex with the girl during a modeling session at the home of the actor Jack Nicholson.

Oh, Jack!

It's not just an act, is it?

Before the deal with Los Angeles prosecutors, Polanski also had been charged with child molestation, rape and sodomy, and providing the girl with illegal drugs.

Why not tell us what the drug was, MSM?

Polanski’s supporters said he fled the sentencing after concluding that his Los Angeles judge was about to go back on the plea bargain and sentence the director to a long jail term. Since then, he has lived in his native France while avoiding countries that have strong extradition treaties with the United States.

Behaving like a Sudanese (or Israeli) war criminal.

The US cannot appeal the decision, but Polanski is still a fugitive in the United States.

In Washington, State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said the Obama administration was disappointed by the Swiss action.

“The United States believes that the rape of a 13-year-old child by an adult is a crime, and we continue to pursue justice in this case,’’ Crowley said.

But not too hard.

It's not like they are kidnapping and rendering him to a secret CIA black site.

Even the Globe has to get in its two cents
:

"Polanski: Justice like Swiss cheese

Now that Roman Polanski is free to return to his gilded exile in France, it’s worth remembering what he pleaded guilty to 32 years ago: drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl. That would be a shocking crime if it happened in an ordinary suburb and the perpetrator worked in an office park. The fact that Polanski is a brilliant artist shouldn’t matter at all — nor should the time elapsed or the victim’s purported lack of interest in pursuing the case.

Yet the Swiss justice ministry decided not to extradite the 76-year-old director....

They cited “international public order.’’

Polanski’s 1977-78 sentencing was, indeed, shrouded in controversy; his lawyers argue that the judge acted improperly and reneged on a deal. This could become an argument for granting Polanski a new trial or revising his sentence. But letting him stay free, surrounded by luxury and accolades, sends a disturbing message about how money and celebrity can supersede morality and justice, not just in the United States, but around the world.

Not only that, but his movies sucked.

You do not see them do my list, do you?

"Alleged attacker of cartoonist charged" by Associated Press | July 3, 2010

COPENHAGEN — Denmark’s top prosecutor yesterday charged a Somali man with terrorism for allegedly trying to kill a cartoonist who caricatured the Prophet Mohammed.

Joergen Steen Soerensen said the man, who cannot be named under a court order, wanted to “seriously frighten the population’’ and destabilize Denmark in the January attack on Kurt Westergaard.

The 28-year-old allegedly forced himself into Westergaard’s home — armed with a knife and an ax — trying to break into the panic room where the Danish cartoonist was hiding....

"Italy arrests 305 in campaign against crime syndicate; Police say group was tightly run, gaining power" by Colleen Barry, Associated Press | July 14, 2010

MILAN — Prosecutors claimed a major victory over the powerful and growing ’Ndrangheta crime syndicate, infiltrating weddings, baptisms, and other events to gather information that led to the arrests yesterday of 305 people, including top bosses, and the seizure of more than $76 million in cash and property....

Government hates competition.

The operation began before dawn with the arrest of Domenico Oppedisano, alleged to be the crime group’s top boss, in Calabria.

But the investigation owed its success to investigators’ ability to infiltrate events such as the 2009 wedding of the children of two crime bosses in Calabria, attended by thousands of well-wishers....

Were they on the guest list?

The ’Ndrangheta has emerged as one of the most powerful crime syndicates, even though officials have recognized it as a criminal organization only since February. From Calabria, it has spread to Northern Italy, where it migrated in the 1970s and ’80s, to Germany, and as far away as Canada and Australia.

The raids involved 3,000 police; charges ranged from murder and extortion to arms and drug trafficking.

I told you, government hates competition.
