Pennsylvania Pause and Push

Government is off in the waiting room?

"Pa. ripped for failures in abortion mill case" by Maryclaire Dale and Patrick Walters, Associated Press / January 21, 2011

(Blog editor's warning: Description of graphic atrocities to follow)

PHILADELPHIA — A filthy abortion mill where prosecutors say babies were delivered alive and killed with scissors would have been shut down long ago if not for extraordinary failures by state regulators, one of whom dismissed a death at the clinic with “people die,’’ a grand jury report charges.

Which almost makes it akin to state policy, doesn't it?

Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, a family practice physician with no certification in gynecology or obstetrics, was arraigned yesterday on eight counts of murder in the deaths of seven babies and one patient.

Nine employees also have been charged, including four with murder.

Gosnell asked in court that seven of the murder charges be explained and raised his eyebrows as Magistrate Jane Rice detailed the allegations of the baby deaths.

This article raised mine.

In its report, the grand jury said failures of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and other agencies allowed Gosnell’s “house of horrors’’ to persist for decades, with body parts of babies on the shelves and clogging the plumbing, a 15-year-old high school student administering intravenous anesthesia, and Gosnell’s wife, a cosmetologist, performing late-term procedures.

Gosnell’s patients were mostly poor minority women....

I'll tell you, the more I find out about abortion the more opposed I am.

See: My Abortion Evolution

And that is all I'm going to say about that.

Complaints about Gosnell to state regulators went nowhere, even though 46 lawsuits had been filed against him....

Sorry, but that is MORE than just an ERROR or MISTAKE!

That is WILLFUL NEGLIGENCE and COMPLICITY in MURDER!

But honestly, that's the state here in AmeriKa in the 21st century.

"Autistic students get $5m in abuse suit" by Associated Press | May 29, 2010

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The families of seven autistic students who alleged abuse by their teacher in a northeastern Pennsylvania classroom have agreed to a $5 million settlement of their federal lawsuit.
Former special education teacher Susan Wzorek pleaded no contest to reckless endangerment and spent six weeks in prison in 2005 after prosecutors said she subjected her students to a range of abuse, from hitting them, pulling their hair, and stomping on their feet, to strapping them to chairs with duct tape and bungee cords.

Isn't that torture?

Can't ju$t load 'em up with a pharmaceutical, huh?

“Her teaching tools were fear, intimidation, and physical assault,’’ said the plaintiffs’ attorney, Larry Moran....

For which torturing CIA agents are absolved, and upon which governments (and their media mouthpieces) wage wars on people.

Lesson learned.

And when there is a cry for help?

PITTSBURGH — The children of a man who died after waiting 30 hours for help despite 10 calls to 911 during a record-setting February snowstorm are suing, saying his death happened because of a total breakdown of the emergency medical system.

The lawsuit filed yesterday argues that the city, the county dispatch center, various paramedics, and emergency medical services brass are responsible for the Feb. 7 death of Curtis Mitchell, 50.

Mitchell died at home after ambulance crews didn’t reach him despite calls his live-in girlfriend, Sharon Edge, made to 911 as a storm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow on the city....

I also blame the Gore global-warming crowd.

The lawsuit says he endured agonizing stomach pain while waiting for help.

Karl Williams, the Allegheny County medical examiner, later determined Mitchell died of natural causes — heart disease complicated by a fatty liver — though toxicology tests confirmed that a poor blood supply caused Mitchell’s intestines to swell and likely led to the discomfort he suffered.

The lawsuit contends three ambulance crews could not drive to Mitchell’s home because of snow-clogged roads.

Because budget cuts needed to be made to pay bankers.

But, instead of paramedics walking to Mitchell’s home, the suit said the crews repeatedly insisted he walk at least one block to them and even suggested he take a bus at one point....

State work is just a big gravy train, right?
