Pushing Through a Pakistan Post

I think I will stick to my new format since who knows when the tools will conk out.

It looks like Pakistan found the U.S. mole in the government, and I did read about the political problems in Pakistan.

"Pakistan court blocks president’s pick for PM; Move reflects top judge’s effort to act politically" by Declan Walsh  |  New York Times, June 22, 2012

ISLAMABAD — A fresh twist....

The dramatic court maneuver highlights the growing difficulty of separating law from politics in the country’s rapidly evolving machinations of power....

Sound familiar, American?

In the background, meanwhile, lies the country’s powerful generals....

Sound familiar, American?

It is not the only case that has tarnished the son of a leading public figure. Last week Pakistanis were riveted when Malik Riaz Hussain, a billionaire property developer with ties to both the military and Zardari’s political party, said he gave $3.7 million in kickbacks to Chaudhry’s son, Arsalan Iftikhar, in a bid to influence the outcome of several court cases.

The scandal spread to the media when it emerged that two senior journalists had orchestrated a television interview with Hussain.

Yousuf Gilani was ousted this week because he refused court orders to reopen a dormant corruption inquiry into Zardari’s finances in Switzerland. Yousuf Gilani argued that as president, Zardari was immune from prosecution.

The next prime minister will probably quickly face the same order from the Supreme Court to investigate Zardari, meaning tensions will continue to roil the fragile political setup.

Relations between Washington and Islamabad are strained over a host of issues, including blocked war supply lines to Afghanistan and Pakistan’s links to the Afghan Taliban.

Oh, btw, did you know Obama's obstinacy is costing you $100 million dollars a month, American?

The Obama administration has tried to work with Pakistan to get it more aligned to its goals but has had little success.

Uh-huh.

"Car bomb kills 24 in tribal region

PESHAWAR - A car bombing at a bus stop killed 24 people and injured 32 Saturday in the Khyber tribal region, an official said. The bomb was planted in a pickup truck and exploded at the Zakhakhel bus stop about 30 miles west of Peshawar. The town is frequented by the Zakhakhel tribe, which has formed a militia in support of the government and has fought Lashkar-i-Islam militants (AP)."

"Militants kill 13 Pakistani troops, behead 7, officials say, June 26, 2012

ISLAMABAD — Militants crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan and killed 13 Pakistani troops, beheading seven of them, the Pakistani military charged Monday.

Are you sure it wasn't U.S. special forces, and if it were would the war-promoting paper tell us?

Outraged, Pakistan’s new prime minister said he would protest to the Afghan president.

The border skirmish is a new sign of tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, two uneasy neighbors. Pakistan has complained that militants use parts of Afghanistan for sanctuary to stage attacks inside Pakistan.

That assertion helps Islamabad counter frequent US and NATO complaints that militants behind much of the violence in Afghanistan come from Pakistan.

Pakistani military officials said in a statement Monday that militants from Afghanistan crossed the border in the northwestern Pakistan’s Upper Dir region Sunday night and clashed with Pakistani forces on a patrol.

The military said six Pakistani troops were killed outright. Seven who went missing were killed and then beheaded, while the remaining four have not been found. The reports could not be independently verified.

Reflecting the gruesome nature of the attack, newly elected Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said he would complain directly to President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan.

Pakistani troops killed 14 of the militants, the military said.

The Pakistani Taliban said their fighters carried out the raid, but the statement did not say whether the attackers had crossed over from Afghanistan.

It said Pakistani claims of militant casualties were false.

Both sides often release false or partial information about such occurrences, which usually happen in areas inaccessible to the media.

"Taliban video shows 17 beheaded Pakistani soldiers" by Ishtiaq Mahsud  |  Associated Press, June 28, 2012

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan — The Taliban released a video Wednesday that they say shows the heads of 17 Pakistani soldiers captured in a cross-border raid from Afghanistan this week and beheaded.

Oh, now I'm convinced of the truthfulness of my media and government.

In violence Wednesday, a bomb in a railway station in Pakistan’s southwest killed at least five people, police said, and the leader of an anti-Taliban militia was killed in Peshawar in the northwest.

The Pakistani Taliban’s bloody cross-border raid Sunday night showed the threat still posed by the group, despite multiple army offensives. Increasingly, the militants have used sanctuaries in eastern Afghanistan to attack border areas in Pakistan’s northwest.

Pakistan has criticized NATO and Afghan forces for not doing enough to stop the attacks, but it has received little sympathy. The Afghan government and its allies have long faulted Pakistan for failing to target Afghan Taliban militants and their allies who use Pakistani territory to launch attacks in Afghanistan.

The Pakistani and Afghan Taliban are allies, but the former has focused on fighting the Pakistani government, while the latter has concentrated on attacking foreign and local forces in Afghanistan.

I'm sorry I'm sick of s***, readers. I just put it up here to show you what is shoveled at a well-meaning American who takes the time to try and find out about this world by choosing New England's flagship from the news rack.

The Pakistani Taliban said in the video that they killed 18 soldiers, but 17 heads were displayed. The Associated Press obtained the video by e-mail Wednesday from a Pakistani Taliban spokesman.

Translation: Langley sent it over.

The beginning of the video contains a voice recording by Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud in which he says the militants will continue to battle the army until Pakistan’s government stops supporting the United States and enforces Islamic law throughout the country....

Wasn't he killed in an air strike?

I suppose ghosts can do that.

The railway station bombed Wednesday was located in Sibbi city in Baluchistan Province, said police official Qasim Salachi. In addition to the five killed, 20 others were wounded, he said. The bomb went off just after a train had pulled into the station, and passengers were buying drinks and food.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Baluchistan has experienced decades of violence at the hands of separatists who demand a greater share of the province’s natural resources. It is also believed to be a base of many Afghan Taliban militants.

And rarely gets mentioned in my paper.

The point remains very clear--British intelligence perfected the art of counter-insurgency at its most dirty level. The question becomes, which government is the BLA fronting for] -- The Motorbike Murderers of Balochistan Strike Again

A "Taliban" base my paper tells me -- when it bothers to bring up Baluchistan (that's a tell, folks).

That's where it is going.

And I think we just found our bus bombers.

In Pakistan’s northwest, the leader of a local anti-Taliban militia and three others were found shot dead inside a truck in Peshawar, said Banaras Khan, the city’s deputy superintendent of police. The Taliban tried to kill the 48-year-old militia leader Faheem Khan at least six times before, said the police officer.

The Pakistani government has encouraged locals to form militias to fight the Taliban, but many members have been killed by militants.

The recent attacks have come during serious political instability in Pakistan.

The Supreme Court forced former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to step down last week after convicting him of contempt for failing to reopen an old corruption case against the president.

Pentagon Problems

Off we go....

"Fighter jet’s problems worse than disclosed" by Larry O’dell  |  Associated Press, June 15, 2012

RICHMOND, Va. - Two members of Congress said Thursday that new information provided by the Air Force shows an oxygen-deficit problem on F-22 fighter jets is worse than previously disclosed....

Meaning the Pentagon lied, and you paid how much for the those pos, taxpayers?

“I don’t want to say they’re hiding anything, and I don’t believe there’s a coverup or anything like that,’’ Representative Adam Kinzinger, an Illinois Republican [and] former Air Force pilot, said in a teleconference with journalists. But he said he would like to see the Air Force “just be very open with the American people’’ about the seriousness of the problem and plans for fixing it.
An Air Force spokesman did not immediately respond to a voice message seeking comment.

The Air Force grounded its F-22s for about four months last year because of the oxygen-deficit problem. I checked my blog and I

In May, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta ordered new flight restrictions on the F-22 and directed the Air Force to enlist the help of Navy and NASA experts to determine why some pilots continue to experience dizziness and other symptoms while flying.

Maybe that explains all the crashes.

Senator Mark Warner, Democrat of Virginia, and Kinzinger said the new information came from the Air Force in response to questions they submitted last month after a CBS “60 Minutes’’ report featured two F-22 pilots from the Virginia Air National Guard who said that they and other pilots had experienced oxygen deprivation, disorientation, and other problems during some flights.

"Air Force base in Texas embroiled in sex scandal" by Paul J. Weber  |  Associated Press, June 26, 2012

SAN ANTONIO — From a chapel pulpit on Lackland Air Force Base, where every American airman reports for basic training, Colonel Glenn Palmer delivered his first order to nearly 600 recruits seated in the pews: If you’re sexually harassed or assaulted, tell someone.

‘‘My job is to give you a safe, effective training environment,’’ Palmer said firmly.

What the colonel did not mention directly in his recent address was a widening sex scandal that has rocked the base, one of the nation’s busiest military training centers. Allegations that male instructors had sex with — and in one case raped — female trainees have led to criminal charges against four men. Charges against others are possible....

‘‘It’s a pretty big scandal the Air Force is having to deal with at this point,’’ said Greg Jacob, a former Marine infantry officer and policy director of the Service Women’s Action Network. ‘‘It’s pretty substantial in its scope.’’

Yet there are signs the Air Force still does not have a handle on the full depth of the problem. Staff Sergeant Peter Vega-Maldonado pleaded guilty earlier this month to having sex with a female trainee and struck a plea deal for 90 days’ confinement. Then he acknowledged being involved with a total of 10 trainees, a number previously unknown to investigators.

On Friday, after months of embarrassing disclosures, the head of the Air Force’s training command ordered Major General Margaret H. Woodward to lead an independent investigation. That same day, the Air Force gave reporters rare access to Lackland’s instructional headquarters in an effort to show there was nothing to hide

I checked my blog and I didn't find any items regarding the F-22 groundings or these accusations. Maybe I just missed 'em, but I don't think I did.

The headquarters facility is where Lackland trains the people who train recruits. Inside one small classroom, three women and two men were lectured on the importance of having a moral compass while watching a slide presentation titled ‘‘Integrity First.’’

Lackland has about 475 instructors for the nearly 36,000 airmen who will graduate this year. That is about 85 percent of what Lackland would consider a full roster of instructors. The job requires airmen to work longer hours than most for four years, at the expense of family and personal time.

The Air Force recently launched a smartphone app to help recruit instructors....

So widespread is the fallout that Lackland halted operations for an entire day in March to survey about 5,900 trainees about whether they had seen or been a victim of sexual misconduct.

The first sexual misconduct allegations at Lackland surfaced a year ago against Staff Sergeant Luis Walker, who is charged with 28 counts. Walker, the only instructor who has been accused of sexually assaulting another airman, faces life in prison if convicted.

Last week, one commander of a Lackland training squadron that was caught up in the sex scandal was dismissed after the Air Force lost confidence in his leadership. Officials said the dismissal was not directly related to the sexual misconduct investigation.

They can't even tell the truth on that one.

"Pentagon calls military school Islam class poor judgment" by Pauline Jelinek  |  Associated Press, June 21, 2012

Roberts Reversal Led to Obamacare

UPDATE: BOMBSHELL - Roberts Switched Vote On Obamacare

As predicted here.

"Obamacare dissent suggests Roberts switched sides

As legal scholars study the Supreme Court's decision in the Obamacare case, more and more are concluding that Justice Anthony Kennedy's dissenting opinion, striking down the law in its entirety, was once the majority opinion — and that Chief Justice John Roberts switched his vote at a late stage.

As National Review's Ed Whelan, the Volokh Conspiracy's David Bernstein, and others are pointing out, the dissent refers to another opinion as "the dissent" and uses the pronoun "we," as if speaking for the Court, as majority opinions typically do. In addition, the dissent focuses on the government's arguments, rather than tackling the majority head-on. That suggests that a switch — most likely by the Chief Justice himself — may have come very late in the game, too late to offer more than the most cursory revisions of the opinions in the case.

"15 Reasons Why The Obamacare Decision Is A Mind Blowing Disaster For America

Michael Snyder, Contributor
Activist Post

You can almost always count on the Supreme Court to do the wrong thing. In fact, just about every major decision by the U.S. Supreme Court over the last 40 years has been bad for America.

Many were hoping that the Supreme Court would strike down Obamacare, but the truth is that we all should have known better than to expect them to get something right.

So now America is headed for a complete and total disaster as Obamacare is fully implemented over the next several years.

Obamacare is going to absolutely shred the infrastructure of our medical system; it is going to send health insurance premiums soaring; it is going to dramatically expand the size and the scope of government; it is going to fundamentally alter the relationships between doctors and their patients, and it is one of the largest tax increases in U.S. history. Not only that, it is also going to add about a trillion dollars to our national debt over the next decade. So, no, the Obamacare decision is not good news. Obamacare was one of the worst pieces of legislation in American history, and now we are stuck with it.

It was a 5-4 decision to uphold Obamacare, and the swing vote was Chief Justice John Roberts who was appointed by George W. Bush.

After the vote, it is hard to have any faith in the U.S. Supreme Court. Many constitutional conservatives kept voting for Republicans in the hope that the direction of the Supreme Court would change, but it hasn't.

Prior to the Obama administration, Republicans controlled the White House for 20 out of 28 years. If Republicans were going to fundamentally change the nature of the Supreme Court, that was their opportunity.

But it didn't happen.

Instead, what we have is a Supreme Court that is dominated by judges that have very little respect for the U.S. Constitution. When I was in law school I got to study the Supreme Court pretty closely and I quickly realized that most of the time they simply do whatever they want to do and they make up whatever reasons they can to justify their decisions.

That sounds really bad, but that is the truth.

And thanks to the Supreme Court, we are stuck with Obamacare - at least for now.The following are 15 reasons why the Obamacare decision is a mind blowing disaster for America....

#1 According to the U.S. Supreme Court, the federal government has the power to force you to buy private goods and services. Now that this door has been opened, what else will we be forced to buy in the future?

#2 Obamacare is another step away from individual liberty and another step toward a "nanny state" where the government dominates our lives from the cradle to the grave.

#3 The IRS is now going to be given the task of hunting down and penalizing millions of Americans that do not have any health insurance. In fact, the Obama administration has given the IRS 500 million extra dollars "outside the normal appropriations process" to help them enforce the provisions of Obamacare that they are in charge of overseeing.

#4 Obamacare imposes more than 20 new taxes on the American people. You can find a comprehensive list of Obamacare taxes right here. If you love paying higher taxes, then you are going to absolutely love Obamacare once it is fully implemented.

#5 In an attempt to "control costs" and "promote efficiency", Obamacare limits the treatment options that doctors and patients can consider. This is likely to result in a decrease in life expectancy in the United States.

#6 Obamacare is going to impose nightmarish paperwork burdens on doctors, hospitals and the rest of the healthcare system. This is going to significantly increase our healthcare costs as a nation.

#7 Obamacare is going to send health insurance premiums soaring. This is especially true for younger Americans.

#8 Many small businesses are going to be absolutely crushed by the provisions in Obamacare that require them to provide expensive health insurance coverage for their employees. This is going to make them even less competitive with companies in other countries where businesses are not required to provide healthcare for their workers. This is also going to make it even less attractive for businesses to hire new employees.

#9 Obamacare is going to make the emerging doctor shortage in America a lot worse. Surveys have found that we could potentially see hundreds of thousands of doctors leave the medical profession because of Obamacare.

#10 Obamacare has already forced the cancellation of dozens of doctor-owned hospitals.

#11 Obamacare is going to result in a much bigger federal government. In order to fully implement all of the provisions of Obamacare, hordes of new government bureaucrats will be required.

#12 Thanks to Obamacare, you are going to have to wait much longer to see a doctor. Just look at what happened once Romneycare was implemented in Massachusetts....

In fact, we have already seen the start of this process in Massachusetts, where Mitt Romney’s health care reforms were nearly identical to President Obama’s. Romney’s reforms increased the demand for health care but did nothing to expand the supply of physicians. In fact, by cracking down on insurance premiums, Massachusetts pushed insurers to reduce their payments to providers, making it less worthwhile for doctors to expand their practices. As a result, the average wait to get an appointment with a doctor grew from 33 days to over 55 days.
#13 Obamacare contains all kinds of insidious little provisions that most people don't even know about. The following is one example from the Alliance Defense Fund....
Did you know that with ObamaCare you will have to pay for life-saving drugs, but life-ending drugs are free. One hundred percent free. If this plan were really about health care wouldn't it be the other way around?
#14 As if the U.S. government was not facing enough of a crisis with entitlement spending, it is being projected that Obamacare will add 16 million more Americans to the Medicaid rolls. You and I will be paying for all of this.

#15 The Congressional Budget Office estimates that Obamacare will add more than a trillion dollars to government spending over the next decade. Considering the fact that the U.S. government is already drowning in debt, how in the world can we afford this?

"OBAMA CARE APPROVED – IRS to Force Americans to Buy Health Insurance

WorldOrderNews.com
June 28, 2012

In a victory for President Obama, and a travesty for the Middle Class, the Supreme Court upheld Obama’s health care mandate empowers the IRS to begin to regulate Americans’ health care by 2014.

Expect IRS thugs armed with shotguns knocking at your door to fine you $695 per person (or $2,085 per household) for failure to purchase health insurance, if you fail to pay the outrageous fine, expect to be sued by the IRS. The revised health care law has removed the penalty of $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

This historical Supreme Court ruling allows the federal government to force citizens to enter a contract with private corporations to buy health insurance. This is happening just days before 4th of July, when America won its Independence from British tyranny, and now we face the same tyranny today.

By 2014 all Americans will have to submit or face being fined and sued by the IRS. The American people are already struggling financially with record unemployment, inflation, and trillions of dollars in national debt, by the time health insurance becomes mandatory the middle class will be financially bankrupt.

This is the reason why the military and police are preparing martial law in U.S. streets, because people will revolt against the system that has turned us into financial slaves. They are conditioning Americans right now with military and police checkpoints, speed traps, using Army drones to spy on us,  rolling out the tanks, and putting military goons on residential streets to prepare us for what is to come in the near future.

The Bilderberg Group discussed in Spain about wanting to level America into a 3rd world impoverished nation, where we’re all poor under World Government Dictatorship. Soon the American standard of living will drop significantly, services will be cut, taxes will increase until we become so poor that we are unable to fight, resistance will be futile.

"Supreme Court's Obamacare decision hands federal government unlimited power to force you to spend 100% of your paycheck on things you don't even want

Thursday, June 28, 2012
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Editor of NaturalNews.com

(NaturalNews) Regardless of whether you agree with the fundamentals of Obamacare, the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court has now ruled the federal government has the power to tax Americans into mandatory purchases of private industry products means an end to economic freedom in America. Why? Because it hands the federal government the power to force the American people to buy anything the government wants or face tax penalties for refusing to do so. It is the equivalent of announcing a federal monopoly over all private purchasing decisions.

"The Affordable Care Act's requirement that certain individuals pay a financial penalty for not obtaining health insurance may reasonably be characterized as a tax," wrote Chief Justice John Roberts, in his majority opinion. "Because the Constitution permits such a tax, it is not our role to forbid it, or to pass upon its wisdom or fairness."

Thus, the government can force Americans to buy anything it wants by simply characterizing the forced payment as a "tax."

*******************

Perhaps the worst side effect is that Obamacare isn't really about health care at all. It's about protecting a Big Pharma monopoly over medicine; forcing consumers to buy into a system that offers zero coverage for alternative medicine, nutritional therapies, natural remedies or the healing arts.

If Obamacare actually offered consumers a free market choice of where to get services, it would be a lot more balanced and effective. Instead, it forces consumers to buy into a system of monopoly medicine of drugs and surgery that would flat-out collapse if not for the monopolistic protections granted to the industry by the government itself.

If given a free choice, most consumers prefer complementary medicine than straight-up "drugs and surgery" medicine, but complementary medicine isn't covered under Obamacare. The law is really just another corrupt, criminal-minded handout to the drug industry. And now, thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court, you can't even opt out!

Rhode Island Blew Save For Schilling

Related: Game Over in Rhode Island

Here are a few extra innings:

"38 Studios points finger at R.I.; State broke its pact, official says" by Todd Wallack  |  Globe Staff, June 16, 2012

Former Red Sox star Curt Schilling’s bankrupt video game company claimed it had a “fully negotiated deal and agreement” to receive additional funding from Rhode Island, but the state refused to honor the deal and damaged the company, according to documents obtained through public records requests.

In a strongly worded letter to the state film office, William Thomas, the president of 38 Studios LLC, chastised Rhode Island officials for withholding millions of dollars in film tax credits available to video game makers. He suggested in the letter May 25 that the state had promised to give the company as much as $8.7 million in tax credits after 38 Studios made a $1.1 million payment it owed the state May 17.

But the state refused to release the credits. Thomas also complained that state officials stopped talking after the company made the payment.

“We went from a position of working together in good faith to a position where all communication was shut off,” Thomas wrote in the letter. “The intentional delay in issuing the credits has caused severe damages to the company, its employees, and the state of Rhode Island.”

The letter is not the only time that 38 Studios has blamed Rhode Island for the company’s demise. Schilling told the Providence Journal two weeks ago that Governor Lincoln Chafee sabotaged the company by refusing the tax credits and disclosing the company’s financial troubles, spooking potential partners. Chafee has denied harming the company.

38 Studios filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last week, clearing the way to liquidate the company after it failed to attract new funding. Schilling declined to comment this week. A public relations firm representing the company did not respond to a request for comment....

It is unclear how much the tax credits would have helped 38 Studios. The company had already sold most, if not all the tax credits it requested, and owed millions of dollars to creditors. In its bankruptcy filing, 38 Studios reported it owed more than $150 million and had less than $22 million in assets.

And now taxpayers are on the hook.

The companies that bought 38 Studios’ tax credits — even though they had not been granted — could lose their money. The company struck a deal to sell the credits to Preservation Credit Fund LLC, a company run by Providence tax broker Michael Corso, and Row 1 Productions LLC, a Beverly Hills company that finances films.

Oh, so Rhode Island is going to get rolled just like the us up here.

Corso’s company used the anticipated tax credits as part of the collateral to obtain a loan from Bank Rhode Island, a Providence bank acquired by Brookline Bancorp. on Jan. 1. Karen Schwartzman, a spokeswoman for the bank, said the bank has financed tax credits “on occasion,” but said she couldn’t talk about specific transactions or customers.

Un-f***ing-believable.

You know who will be bailing out that loan, don't you, taxpayers?

Schilling may be personally liable for some of the losses. Corso’s companies used another key piece of collateral to gain its loan from Bank Rhode Island in January — a personal guarantee from Schilling.

I do feel bad for Curt. Nothing hurts worse in AmeriKa than a failed business venture. He did try to do what we are told entrepreneurs are supposed to do. It's AmeriKan capitalism, where if you aren't a Wall Street bank or war-profiteering "defense" corporation you are subject to the whims of the "market.'

"38 Studios troubled for months" by Todd Wallack  |  Globe Staff, June 23, 2012

Former Red Sox star Curt Schilling told a sports talk show Friday that his video game company collapsed suddenly, but public records and interviews show the Rhode Island venture was struggling for months before its troubles climaxed in May.

Another epic collapse, 'eh?

Schilling’s firm, 38 Studios, was frantically trying to raise cash early this year, prompting it to strike a deal in January to sell millions of film tax credits it had yet to receive from Rhode Island. The company also stopped making payments to major vendors. It stopped paying health insurance premiums to Blue Cross and Blue Shield in March while Atlas Van Lines was owed money for several months after moving employees.

Another reason the story broke public. Big Schill stiffed Big Health Care.
“This didn’t happen all at once,” said Nathan F. Coco, a bankruptcy lawyer at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Chicago. “It’s clear they were suffering financial distress over some period of time.”
Schilling declined to talk to the Globe Friday.

He wins me over there!

But in a lengthy interview on radio station WEEI, Schilling said, “It all happened so fast. It’s been kind of a surreal 60 days, 75 days.”

The firm’s financial problems became public on May 14, when Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee said the state was trying to find ways to keep 38 Studies solvent after it missed a $1.1 million payment it owed the state. Ten days later, 38 Studios laid off all its roughly 400 employees, and two weeks after that, the video game company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, clearing the way to liquidate the firm.

Chafee has since ordered a forensic audit to sort through the financial remains of 38 Studios, which has left the state on hook for the $75 million loan guarantee used to lure the company to Providence from Massachusetts last year. Federal and state law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into whether there was any criminal wrongdoing.

The first signs of trouble appeared years ago, as Schilling tried unsuccessfully to raise money from venture capitalists, who dismissed the investment as too risky.

That forced Schilling to rely primarily on his own fortune and credit in addition to support from Rhode Island....

By January 2012, Schilling was frantically trying to raise cash, selling millions of dollars in film tax credits 38 Studios hoped to get from the state, but hadn’t received, to a company controlled by Michael Corso, a Rhode Island film tax credit broker....

Even workers were kept in the dark....

Jeff Horal, an artist, said most employees did not learn of the problems until they first saw news stories about the situation. And many did not discover the company had missed its May 15 payroll until they checked their bank accounts.

“We didn’t really know anything,” said Horal, who is hunting for a new job....

Someone still looking into it:

"Martha Coakley asked to investigate 38 Studios’ relocation firm" by Todd Wallack  |  Globe Staff, June 16, 2012

A lawyer representing five former employees of Curt Schilling’s bankrupt video game company asked Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley on Friday to investigate the firm’s relocation company for violating the state’s consumer protection law and sticking workers with a second mortgage.

To encourage workers to relocate when Schilling moved his 38 Studios to Rhode Island from Massachusetts, the company made a deal to help the employees sell their homes and pay the mortgages until they did, according to the relocation firm, MoveTrek Mobility LLC of Rockland. After 38 Studios filed for bankruptcy, the workers learned they may still be responsible for those mortgages....

Hey, at least the banks are going to make out, and I've reached a point where all I care about is are things good for the Wall Street banks?  If Wall Street is happy, we all should be, and if they are not, we should all just work like the dickens to make sure they get happy.

Oh, she'll look into, but at the end of the day she will throw up her hands and make a deal.  No state or federal official takes on banks these days. Well, excepting Ron Paul.

"Schilling says he invested more than $50m in 38 Studios" by Todd Wallack  |  Globe Staff, June 23, 2012

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling said Friday that he poured the money he had saved from his celebrated baseball career into his Rhode Island video game company.

Now that money is gone....
“I put everything in my name in this company,” Schilling said in a radio interview on the Dennis & Callahan sports talk radio show on WEEI. “I believed in it. I believed in what we had built. I never took a penny from the company.”

Schilling, who earned $114 million during his baseball career, said he was not looking for sympathy, but was “tapped out” and didn’t have any money left to keep the company afloat.

Maybe ESPN can give you more hours.

He said he told his family last month that “the money that I had earned and saved playing baseball was probably all gone, and that it was my fault.”

He stuck with his sick wife, so I don't see why she won't stick with him now.

Schilling, a video game fan who founded the company six years ago, said he personally invested more than $50 million in 38 Studios, in addition to $5 million to $10 million from other wealthy investors and a $75 million loan guarantee it received from the state of Rhode Island.

Schilling, who was not paid for the radio appearance, acknowledged that workers didn’t have any advance warning about the company’s financial troubles. The company reported that employees, who were not paid in May, were owed more than $2 million in back wages. Many are also stuck with relocation costs 38 Studios originally promised to cover.

“The employees got blindsided,” Schilling said. “They have every right to be upset. I always told everybody if something were going to happen, you’re going to have a month or two of lead time, and I bombed on that one in epic fashion.”

Schilling faulted Governor Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island for compounding the company’s problems.

He said the firm was on the verge of signing a deal with a major video game publisher worth as much as $38 million for a sequel to the first single-user game it released in February, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Schilling said the company did not see an infusion of cash from the first game because the initial sales went to repay an advance from the game publisher, Electronic Arts.

He said talks with the new game publisher collapsed after Chafee said last month that he was trying to find a way to keep the company solvent, the first public indication that 38 Studios was in financial trouble.

Schilling said he was puzzled by comments accusing him of being hypocritical for seeking loan guarantees and tax credits from Rhode Island, despite his political advocacy for smaller government. “I don’t have any problem with government helping entrepreneurs and businesses succeed,” Schilling said.

I'm consistent, Curt. I don't think a damn dime of taxpayer money should be shelled out to business when police, firefighters, and teachers are taking a shellacking.  I'm sick of seeing gobs and gobs of taxpayer dough going for debt interest payments to banks and doled out for corporate welfare to going concern$.

Sunday Globe Special: Boston Globe Retracts Ron Paul Endorsement

Yeah, they lied to me. What else is new?

"Mass. Republicans oust Ron Paul delegates; They did not deliver affidavit in support of Mitt Romney on time" by Stephanie Ebbert  |  Globe Staff, June 24, 2012

In Massachusetts, Ron Paul’s Liberty Slate swept the Republican caucuses in April, stealing delegate spots that were expected to go to Mitt Romney’s friends and allies, whom he had selected.
In Massachusetts, Ron Paul’s Liberty Slate swept the Republican caucuses in April, stealing delegate spots that were expected to go to Mitt Romney’s friends and allies, whom he had selected (AP/File).

Yes, even when Ron Paul does things to the letter and by the rules he still "steals" things.

Evan Kenney had just turned 18 and registered to vote for the first time when he campaigned to be an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention. Lauding Ronald Reagan’s principles and blasting Keynesian economics at the Lynnfield caucus in April, the Wakefield High School senior beat out several well-known Massachusetts Republicans, including the party’s most recent nominee for governor, Charles D. Baker Jr.

But earlier this month, Kenney was one of 17 delegates and alternates disqualified by a Republican committee deciding who gets to represent Massachusetts Republicans at the national convention in Tampa. Kenney and others had failed to deliver in time an affidavit swearing, under the penalty of perjury, that they would support Mitt Romney’s nomination for president.

An affidavit is never mentioned in the Republican Party’s rules for selecting delegates and has never been required of delegates in the past, GOP critics say. Suspicions are steep this year because Kenney and the others are supporters of Ron Paul, the libertarian candidate whose quixotic campaign for president culminated in an effort to take over state caucuses nationwide.

Even the word choices bother me. Yup, he's taking over with his quixotic campaign.

The delegates must vote for Romney, based on his strong primary win in Massachusetts, but Paul’s supporters hope to use the convention to draw attention to his agenda, including auditing the Federal Reserve and requiring wars to be declared by Congress.

In Massachusetts, Paul’s Liberty Slate swept the Republican caucuses in April, stealing delegate spots that were expected to go to Romney’s friends and allies, whom he had selected.

Yeah, he "stole" 'em because his people actually showed.

Makes you wonder -- or not -- how he lost the vote.

Massachusetts, a state dominated by Democrats and typically marginalized at national Republican events, could have an unusual share of the limelight at this year’s convention, since its former governor is the party’s expected presidential nominee.

Some libertarian-leaning delegates balked at the notion of signing legal affidavits pledging what they had committed verbally at the caucuses where they were elected. Many later submitted them, but not until after the deadline.

As a result, the committee disqualified them, winnowing the number of Liberty delegates and alternates to the convention from 35 to 19, said organizer Brad Wyatt. (One Liberty delegate was added due to the changes in the roster.)

“I’ve been rudely awakened to the realities of politics,” Kenney said. “I feel I’ve been cheated.”

Because you HAVE! Thanks for RUINING the POLITICAL EXPERIENCE for the kid, a**holes!

A spokesman for the Massachusetts Republican Party would not say why the affidavits were required of delegates this year, and the chairman of the Allocations Committee would not agree to an interview.

Oh, WE KNOW WHY!!!!

Instead, the chairman offered an e-mailed statement saying that the Romney campaign, through its representative on his committee, had the right to reject delegates for “just cause.”

Hey, it's Massachusetts and AmeriKa, where war is peace and injustice is justice.

**********************************

The actions by the GOP establishment in Massachusetts are further disenchanting some libertarians and conservatives who have traditionally been suspicious of the party’s top-down leadership.

I'm MORE than DISENCHANTED, I'm fucking ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a state where Republican registration has dwindled to just 11 percent of registered voters, the party can hardly afford to alienate enthusiastic activists, they say.

And I'm still one of them -- but not for much longer.

“I’m very disappointed and disheartened about the way we’ve been treated,” Wyatt said. “It’s almost unbelievable.”

Among the new activists is Carol Claros, a Worcester single mother and nurse who represents the first generation of her Colombian family to be born in the United States.

In the weeks leading up to the caucuses, Claros, who got interested in politics through Paul several years ago, worked with Wyatt and other activists to drum up attendance and support for the Liberty delegates. They did it “the old-fashioned way,” Claros said. “We reached out to our voters. We got a list of Republican donors . . . we must have called 2,000 people in the state. I was like a phone warrior.”

At her caucus, attended by more than 200 people, she was the nervous first speaker — but the second-highest vote-getter, she said. Even that day, though, she said, she heard that Romney’s chosen delegates were being advised they should plan to go to Tampa.

The Paul delegates were going to be challenged.

The party has decided not to count the provisional ballots provided to voters whose registration couldn’t be confirmed on the day of the caucuses.

Expect more of that in the fall, Democrats.

And a Republican challenged on a technicality the election of six Liberty delegates and alternates in Romney’s Congressional district. That challenge was dismissed by the Allocations Committee.

Oh, so the Globe didn't lie or distort, huh?  That would be a first.

Mitt Romney's Weekend

Let's make it a long one like the rich man deserves:

"Romney to hold retreat for big donors" June 21, 2012

WASHINGTON — Fresh off the best fund-raising stretch of his presidential campaign, Mitt Romney plans to spend this weekend strategizing and fraternizing with his biggest bundlers at a posh resort in Park City, Utah.

The presumptive nominee and his senior advisers and aides are hosting two days of policy sessions and campaign strategy discussions at a Deer Valley resort for more than 100 top fund-raisers and their spouses. Those who raised more than $100,000 are expected to attend.

More than a dozen Republican heavy-hitters are scheduled to join the private retreat as special guests. According to a fund-raiser who is attending, guests include some GOP stars believed to be contenders to be Romney’s vice presidential running mate: Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, and Senator John Thune of South Dakota.

Former George W. Bush strategist Karl Rove, who helps run American Crossroads, the well-funded GOP super PAC, is planning to speak at the retreat, said the fund-raiser, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the event. Rove’s appearance could raise questions because of campaign finance laws barring any coordination between super PACs and actual campaigns.

You Democrats should have jailed him when you had the chance. One reason among many that I'm tired of the s*** fooley game.

Senator John McCain of Arizona, the party’s 2008 presidential nominee, is also scheduled to attend, according to the fund-raiser.

Other guests slated to appear include former secretaries of state Condoleezza Rice and James A. Baker III, and former Florida governor Jeb Bush.

The truth is, they never leave. One takes over for another.

Romney’s finance officials have touted the retreat as a way to reward top-performing bundlers who make their own donations and then raise many times that from within their network of friends and associates.

Maybe not so odd (more on that later).

The retreat, which will be closed entirely to the press, is set to begin Friday with a series of policy question-and-answer sessions with Romney.

"Romney softens stance on immigration rules; Tells Hispanic group, ‘We can find common ground here’" by Matt Viser  |  Globe Staff, June 21, 2012

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Mitt Romney vowed to complete a 2,000-mile fence along the border to keep illegal immigrants out.

I predict he will break that promise.

The speech was a significant departure from the blunt rhetoric Romney adopted during the Republican primary race....

The flip-flopper talking out of both sides of his mouth? No!

Romney used his father’s story to try to connect with immigrants, something he hasn’t frequently done. “He was born to American parents living in Mexico,” Romney said of his father, George, who later became governor of Michigan....

Romney didn’t mention the reason that his father was born in Mexico, however.

Then why did he run for an office he could not constitutionally hold?  Maybe someone should check Mitt's birth certificate!

More on how he made his money later.

His father’s grandfather – Mitt’s great-grandfather – fled the United States to escape laws against polygamy and establish a colony in Mexico where some of Romney’s distant relatives still live....

"Romney staff watching Fla. official’s job talk" June 22, 2012

TALLAHASSEE — Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign asked Florida Governor Rick Scott to tone down his statements heralding improvements in the state’s economy because they clash with the presumptive Republican nominee’s message that the nation is suffering under President Obama, according to two people familiar with the matter.

I don't believe this economy is improving at all (hundreds of job cuts in the papers every day), and I've reached the point where I will never believe the horse s*** shoveled by the corporate media.

Scott, a Republican, was asked to say that the state’s jobless rate could improve faster under a Romney presidency, according to the people, who asked not to be named.

What’s unfolding in Florida highlights a dilemma for the Romney campaign: how to allow Republican governors to take credit for economic improvements in their states while faulting Obama’s stewardship of the national economy. Republican governors in Ohio, Virginia, Michigan, and Wisconsin also have highlighted improving economies.

See: Romney Will Steal Rust Belt

Scott should follow the advice of the Romney campaign and it won’t undermine his own message, said Mac Stipanovich, a political strategist and lobbyist in Florida.

Romney’s campaign is eager to sell its economy message in Florida, one of the most competitive electoral battle grounds, where the past three presidential races were decided by 5 percentage points or less.

Related: How Mitt Romney Will Steal Florida

A Romney adviser made the request this week to Scott’s staff after press releases from the governor’s reelection campaign and Internet messages from the Florida Chamber of Commerce trumpeted the state’s drop to 8.6 percent unemployment rate in May from 8.7 percent in April, the people said. The national unemployment rate is 8.2 percent.

Scott’s news release said the jobless rate had dropped 11 consecutive months in Florida and asked supporters to ‘‘spread the news.’’

Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said Romney often praises governors ‘‘for their ability to overcome the job-stifling policies of the Obama administration.’’

A Scott spokesman didn’t return phone calls seeking comment.

"Presidential race takes nasty turn; Romney, Obama campaigns trade some low blows" by Matt Viser  |  Globe Staff, June 22, 2012

WASHINGTON — When President Obama landed in Cleveland recently to give a speech on the crucial subject of the American economy, a campaign bus plastered with the logo of Mitt Romney showed up, honking. Then circling around. Then honking some more.

When Romney traveled through Pennsylvania on a six-state bus tour, Democrats dispatched protesters, including former governor Ed Rendell, to a WaWa convenience store where Romney was slated to appear. Romney diverted his bus to a different WaWa, spurring calls of cowardice from the Democrats.

See: Why Romney Loses the Rust Belt

Both campaigns have latched onto Twitter as a weapon of choice in instantaneous snipefests, each side eager to tarnish the opposition’s message and gain a minor edge in a rapid news cycle, complete with a clever hash tag.

Must be a misspelling because the correct word is vapid.

This race for president — one that will decide who will occupy the most powerful office in the world — has in recent weeks degenerated into a heckling war on the campaign trail, fueled by sophomoric stunts and Twitter taunts.

Heckling has been a staple of American politics and political protest for centuries, of course. Not only can hecklers drown out a candidate’s words on the stump, they can also dominate news coverage of the event. But....

Uh-huh.

Yeah, they dominate when the agenda-pushing media feels like it.

Now, the campaigns are squabbling over whether heckling is a fair tactic to employ....

Meanwhile, both campaigns and the mouthpiece media are heckling you, Americans.

"Mitt Romney donors get access for the weekend" June 24, 2012

Mitt Romney is hosting a weekend retreat for wealthy donors in Park City, Utah, offering backers the chance to mingle with campaign aides, Republican officials, and the candidate himself at a series of events.

More than 500 donors were expected to attend the event, which began Friday and is open only to individuals who have given $50,000 or are raising at least $250,000 to benefit Romney’s White House bid.

Having decided not to take public financing for the general election, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate has devoted much of his time since locking down his party’s nomination to flying across the country to woo top donors.

The schedule for the retreat at the Utah ski area includes closed-door gatherings with the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, Senator John McCain of Arizona, as well as former Florida governor Jeb Bush and three officeholders who have been mentioned in news reports as possible Romney running mates....

Fund-raisers will also receive private strategy briefings from campaign and party officials, including former White House adviser Karl Rove, and lectures on foreign policy, energy, and the financial sector, according to a schedule of events obtained from attendees. Former secretaries of state Condoleezza Rice and James A. Baker III will be among those discussing foreign affairs.

The mingling began on the flight from Salt Lake City with executives, lobbyists, politicians, and campaign staff. Donors attended a cookout Friday with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee at Olympic Park, the site of the 2002 winter games that Romney ran as chief executive officer.

The weekend concludes with a round of golf at Red Ledges, described as an elite private community with an 18-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Romney and the Republican Party outraised Democrats in this campaign cycle for the first time last month, collecting more than $76.8 million, nearly $17 million more than President Obama and his allies.

I guess that is why Obama has stooped so low as to ask for wedding gifts. How pathetic.

Obama also has spent much time at fund-raising events, including high-profile dinners at the homes of celebrities.

Obama’s campaign has disclosed the names of its so-called bundlers — those who pledge to raise large amounts of funds for him — while Romney’s campaign has refused to release a list of its top fund-raisers.

In coming weeks, Romney has fund-raising events scheduled in New York; Aspen, Colo.; and Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Top donors to Romney already get access to weekly strategy calls and updates from campaign officials and other Republicans, efforts organized by aide Spencer Zwick.

Long weekends always leek into Monday:

"Romney spends weekend with top fund-raisers in Utah

Mitt Romney spent time this weekend with his top fund-raisers, rewarding some 500 donors and bundlers who are doing the most to help him close the gap between his campaign and President Obama’s.

The retreat, which was open to those who have given $50,000 or are raising at least $250,000, was held in Park City, Utah, in the shadows of the mountains that were home to the 2002 Winter Olympics. Romney frequently alludes to his work running the Olympics as an example of his management prowess.

Romney’s political team flew in for the event and spent personal time with the business executives, lobbyists, and politicians who are close to Romney.

The event, which The New York Times reported was dubbed by some as Republicanpalooza, featured some of the top names in politics, including operative Karl Rove, former Florida governor Jeb Bush, and the 2008 Republican nominee, Senator John McCain.

Also on hand were a number of potential vice presidential nominees, including Representative Paul Ryan, of Wisconsin; Senator Rob Portman, of Ohio; and the former Minnesota governor, Tim Pawlenty.

The fund-raisers were treated to strategy briefings from campaign officials and lectures on policy proposals from top Republicans.

The weekend concluded with a round of golf Sunday at an 18-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

The former Massachusetts governor has always had a well-oiled fund-raising machine, but in the weeks since clinching the Republican nomination, he has been closing the gap with Obama’s vaunted fund-raising operation.

Unlike Obama, Romney has not disclosed his bundlers, other than the registered lobbyists that he is forced to disclose under federal law.

Here is how Mitt used to spend his weekends:

"Mitt Romney’s prankster ways continued in college; Friends say he impersonated an officer at Stanford" by Michael Kranish |  Globe Staff, June 24, 2012

Lewis Black vividly recalls the day when his Stanford University classmate, Mitt Romney, put on a police uniform, walked behind a mutual friend, and announced gravely, “You’re under arrest.”

It was, Black said in an interview, just one aspect of Romney’s continuation of a prank he had begun during his high school years: impersonating a police officer. Black said Romney was known to put a police-like whirring cherry top on his white Rambler, put on a uniform, and ride around in a “fake police car.”

Ummm, it is NOT just a PRANK, it is a CRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

“I remembered him telling us that he liked to pull people over,” Black said.

Romney’s love of pranks is by now well known, including some that were perceived as crossing the line. Romney has talked about dressing up as a police officer to pull pranks at his Cranbrook prep school in Michigan.

Related: Boston Globe Bullies Mitt Romney

Seems to me like they are treating him awfully nice.

Btw, the well-known remark is a nod to the blogs that reported this weeks ago.

But his continuation of this practice at Stanford, confirmed by a number of his classmates in recent interviews, appears to have gone on more frequently and longer than has been generally realized.

Oh, THAT IS TROUBLING and shows signs of MENTAL DERANGEMENT!

Classmate David Lee recalled driving around the Stanford campus with Romney in search of students from the University of California, Berkeley, who were known to pull pranks on the Stanford campus. As Romney drove his white Rambler in the dark, he pulled out a “cherry top” whirring light that he brought with him from Michigan. Romney was not wearing a uniform on this occasion.

Yeah, it's ALL COLLEGE HIJINKS -- like what Rush Limbaugh said torture was, right?

“He pulled out a portable light that plugged in,” Lee said. “We were just running around campus, I wouldn’t say wildly, but aimlessly, looking for Cal guys. We never found any. I don’t know what we would have done if we had.”

Look at him back off the whole thing.

A third classmate, Richard Wall, said Romney wore what appeared to be a security guard uniform when roaming campus in his Rambler with the police cherry top.

“He would occasionally drive around after dark, and he had a flashing light he could hook into a cigarette lighter,” Wall said. “He would find kids making out in a car and give them tickets. It was probably bogus. I don’t think there was any venal intent on Romney’s part. I just think he thought it was funny.”

Which shows a SELF-CENTERED SICKNESS that is REALLY SCARY!!

Romney has acknowledged similar stunts. He was paraphrased in a Boston Globe story in 2005 as saying that he remembered “dressing up as a police officer himself and startling his friends and their girlfriends by rapping on the steamed-up windows of their parked cars.”

Ooooh, so THIS HAS BEEN OUT THERE for YEARS, huh?

And the Globe WAITED until the NATIONAL MEMO broke the story? And they wonder why their cratering readership now consists only of Jews and elites (and me)?

So, MITT GOT HIS JOLLIES out of sneaking up on kids making out in cars, huh? That shows DISTURBING SIGNS of SEXUAL REPRESSION!

These accounts follow a recollection from another Romney classmate at Stanford, Robin Madden, who told a publication called The National Memo earlier this month that Romney had boasted of using a police officer’s uniform and had displayed it in his dorm room.

“We thought it was all pretty weird,” Madden was quoted as saying. “We all thought, ‘Wow, that’s pretty creepy.’ And after that, we didn’t have much interaction with him.”

Neither would I -- and I would have reported him to the police.

Related: Mississippi Highway Patrol

And off into the memory hole distance it goes....

Romney first pulled the police act when he was a student at Cranbrook, an elite prep school in his hometown of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Yeah, where he BULLIED a KID!!

It was late one night when Romney put on the uniform of a state trooper, put a whirring “cherry top” on his car, and pulled up to a vehicle occupied by two couples.

That is a CRIME!

Romney had let the two male friends in the car in on the prank. They had put beer bottles in the trunk ahead of time. When Romney-as-officer pulled up, the two girls in the car thought an arrest was underway.

What FUN DATES, huh?

Romney pretended surprise at discovering the beer bottles, pulled out the two boys, and placed them under fake arrest. Romney and the two boys then drove away, leaving the two girls stranded.

WHAT?!!!!???!!!!

“He came up to the car and pretended to be a cop. . . . He asked me to get out of the car and open the trunk, at which point we found the beer,” Graham McDonald, one of the friends involved in the prank, said last year in an interview for the biography, “The Real Romney” by two Globe staff reporters. “It was a terrible thing to do. We came back shortly. We didn’t leave the damsels in distress.”

Yeah, and YOU GUYS can TAKE US HOME NOW, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After graduating from Cranbrook, Romney spent a year at Stanford, where the campus was being roiled by antiwar protests. Romney was appalled at the antiestablishment mood on campus and famously protested the antiwar protesters.

But he DIDN'T SIGN UP to GO FIGHT!!!!

Sorry, but WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH CHICKENHAWK PRESIDENTS and DON'T NEED ANOTHER SICKIE!!!!

Accounts differ about whether Romney used the same Michigan state trooper’s uniform at Stanford that he had worn at Cranbrook. Some classmates have said it was a Michigan uniform or a security guard suit. Black described it as a “rent-a-cop” outfit without Michigan markings.

Does it make a difference?

A number of Romney’s classmates said in separate interviews that he sometimes drove people around in a Rambler, the car that his father had built his reputation on while running American Motors Corp. The campus police force also used Ramblers, which may have helped Romney blend in as a supposed officer.

Romney may have risked arrest as a result of his actions. According to Michigan law around the time that Romney attended Cranbrook, it was a misdemeanor for individuals to “falsely assume or pretend to be” a police officer.

It would not be looked on favorably if you or I did it!

Under California law at the time, it was a misdemeanor for someone to wear a police-like badge or use a device if such measures were intended to “induce” the average person to believe he is a “peace officer.”

Like I said, a CRIME!!!

Peter Keane, professor of law and dean emeritus of the Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, said that if Romney wore a police uniform or put a siren on his car, then “he was violating the law as it was understood and interpreted at the time. . . . If you did wear a police officer uniform and badge in California, you were arrested and could be prosecuted and convicted.”

And NOW, too!!!!

Of course, bully Mitt wasn't any of those things, and even had he Daddy would have gotten him off.

Keane, while not having direct knowledge of Romney’s actions, said people who impersonate police officers often long to be “an authority figure. There is an underlying psychology of those people that they are power hungry.” Their aim is “being able to direct people as to what they should do and not do,” Keane said.

NOT the kind of man we want as a PRESIDENT!!!!

A Romney campaign spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.

Wall said that Romney’s actions paled compared to some pranks pulled by rowdier Stanford students. “There were far worse things done by people than what Romney did,” Wall said.

Yeah, well, THEY are NOT RUNNING for PRESIDENT!!!

And down the Globe memory hole it goes.

Okay, back to work:

"The story behind Romney and the junk bond king; Deal with Michael Milken in the late ’80s transformed Bain Capital and the future candidate’s business career" by Michael Kranish and Beth Healy  |  Globe Staff, June 24, 2012

It was at the height of the 1980s buyout boom when Mitt Romney went in search of $300 million to finance one of the most lucrative deals he would ever manage. The man who would help provide the money was none other than the famed junk-bond king Michael Milken.

What transpired would become not just one of the most profitable leveraged buyouts of the era, but also one of the most revealing stories of Romney’s Bain Capital career. It showed how he pivoted from being a relatively cautious investor to risking his reputation for a big payoff. It is one that Romney has rarely, if ever, mentioned in his two bids for the presidency, perhaps because the Houston-based department store chain that Bain assembled later went into bankruptcy.

But what distinguishes this deal from the nearly 100 others that Romney did over a 15-year period was his close work with Milken’s firm, Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. At the time of the deal, it was widely known that Milken and his company were under federal investigation, yet Romney decided to go ahead with the deal because Drexel had a unique ability to sell high-risk, high-yield debt instruments, known as “junk bonds.”

So ROMNEY built his FORTUNE on JUNK?!!

The Obama campaign has criticized the deal as showing Romney’s eagerness to make a “profit at any cost,” because workers lost jobs, and challenged Romney’s assertion that his business background best prepares him for the presidency.

Are you TIRED of the S*** POLITICAL FOOLEYS yet?

Romney, meanwhile, once referred to the deal as emanating from “the glorious days of Drexel Burnham,” saying, “it was fun while it lasted,” in a little-noticed interview with American Banker magazine.

Yup, ripping off people and destroying their lives is FUN!

The “glorious” part, for Romney at least, was that he used junk-bond financing to turn a $10 million investment into a $175 million profit for himself, his partners, and his investors.

And the COMPANY went BANKRUPT, huh?

It marked a turning point for Romney, according to Marc Wolpow, a former Drexel employee who was involved in the deal and later was hired by Romney to work at Bain Capital....
