Libyan Leftovers

"Libya ordered to hand over ex-official" by Mike Corder |  Associated Press, February 08, 2013

THE HAGUE — Judges at the International Criminal Court have ordered Libyan authorities to immediately surrender slain dictator Moammar Khadafy’s former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senoussi.

The written order published Thursday set up the latest legal showdown between the Hague-based court and Libyan authorities, who say they plan to put Senoussi on trial themselves.

The court has indicted Senoussi on crimes against humanity charges for the murder and persecution of protesters in the early days of the uprising that eventually toppled Khadafy in 2011.

Then all governments are guilty, and the ICC is nothing more than globalist gallows.

Libyan authorities also are holding Khadafy’s son and one-time heir-apparent, Seif al-Islam Khadafy, who also is wanted by the court.

Lawyers for Libya are challenging the court’s right to try both men, saying that they are preparing them for trial on similar charges and other alleged offenses.

Senoussi’s defense lawyers appealed to the court last month to speed up proceedings, alleging that Senoussi’s family had heard he was to be tried before a military tribunal and executed. Libya denied that claim.

"Libyan Army colonel dies in attack" Associated Press, June 15, 2013

TRIPOLI, Libya — A Libyan Army colonel was killed in an ambush on his brigade in the country’s south on Friday, the unit’s spokesman said, in the latest incident of violence in the North African country.

Umm, we call it Obomber's liberation of Libya over here, 'kay?

Separately, in the eastern city of Benghazi, an independent TV station reported an unknown attacker hurled a hand grenade at its building.

The violence underscores the instability that has rocked Libya nearly a year after the capture and killing of dictator Moammar Khadafy, particularly as the police and military struggle to reign in militias and build up their forces.

Brigade spokesman Ali el-Abed said his unit was delivering army vehicles from Tripoli to the southern city of Sabha when they came under attack by gunmen. The ambush occurred in Kira, considered a bastion of Khadafy loyalists.

Abed said that just before the ambush, a militia from the city of Zawiya, had stopped the military convoy near the town of Brak to check paperwork. Abed said the convoy came under attack after the militia gave it the green light to pass the checkpoint.

In other words, Libya went from a stable country under Khadafy to a base for Al-CIA-Duh terrorists -- with Libyan weapons being distributed across the region. Cui bono?

"Khadafy’s children likely violated UN travel ban" by Edith M. Lederer |  Associated Press, June 19, 2013

UNITED NATIONS — A son and daughter of former Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy moved from Algeria to Oman in apparent violation of a UN travel ban, the committee monitoring UN sanctions against Libya said Tuesday.

Now the U.N is going after his kids? That's low. Where are the Reagan officials responsible for killing Khadafy's kids after Israel goaded 'em into bombing back in 1986? U.N.? Hello?

Rwanda’s UN ambassador, Eugene Richard Gasana, who chairs the committee, told the Security Council that Algeria’s UN Mission confirmed on June 5 that Aisha and Mohammed Khadafy had relocated to Oman along with other family members.

Aisha Khadafy, a lawyer in her mid-30s, and Mohammed Khadafy, in his early 40s, have been on the UN sanctions blacklist since early 2011, subject to an asset freeze and travel ban.

Both fled to Algeria after Khadafy was ousted later that year.

Gasana said the sanctions committee has directed its panel of experts to investigate their move to Oman, which was not authorized by the United Nations under its exemption procedures.

Britain’s UN ambassador, Mark Lyall Grant, the current Security Council president, said an interim report next month is expected to address the issue of the two Khadafy children’s travels.

Libya’s foreign minister, Mohamed Abdelaziz, said in late March that Oman had granted asylum to Khadafy’s widow, Safiya, and other family members.

Aisha Khadafy helped in the defense of Saddam Hussein, Iraq’s toppled dictator, in the trial that led to his hanging.

Oh, well, there you go!

So who is going to help Obomber when his empire falls?

Mohammed Khadafy is the only child of Khadafy and his first wife, Fatiha. He was Libya’s Olympic chief and was involved in the country’s telecommunications industry.

"Khadafy-era minister sentenced to execution" Associated Press  |  August 01, 2013

TRIPOLI, Libya — A criminal court in Libya sentenced a Khadafy-era education minister to death on Wednesday for murder and for inciting violence during the 2011 civil war, the second such guilty verdict by the same court in recent days.

A judge in Misurata, one of hardest hit cities during the war, found Ahmed Ibrahim guilty of inciting residents in Moammar Khadafy’s hometown of Surt to form armed gangs and fight the rebels that were seeking to overthrow the Libyan dictator.

Ibrahim also was convicted of spreading false news through the local radio station there and terrorizing and demoralizing the public.

There is a whole industry built around that here, and we call it the AmeriKan ma$$ media.

The judge also found him guilty of killing a man named Moftah Sadiq el-Sofrani after kidnapping him from a hospital, as well as giving orders to kidnap and kill five other people from the same family.

The Sofrani family’s lawyer said the ruling will be sent to Libya’s Supreme Court, which will either accept the initial sentencing or accept an appeal, if filed.

The same court sentenced security official Masnour Al-Daw Gadhafi to death for his role in the civil war several days ago, according to Nasser Jibril, a journalist in Misurata who attended both trials.

"Daughter of Khadafy’s spy chief freed" Associated Press, September 09, 2013

TRIPOLI, Libya — The daughter of Libya’s former spy chief under dictator Moammar Khadafy was released by her abductors after her tribe cut off the capital’s water supply, officials said Sunday.

Commander Haitham el-Tajouri of the militia that kidnapped Anoud el-Senoussi said that she was handed over to her tribe late Saturday after the country’s prime minister negotiated her release.

Tajouri’s militia is part of the Supreme Security Committee, which is comprised of militias that work with police and are paid to help with security. The 21-year-old’s abduction highlighted the government’s inability to control even its own paid forces.

Prime Minister Ali Zidan has struggled to reign in a combustible mix of tribal feuds, disgruntled tribes, and renegade militias.

The country’s nascent police and army have been unable to secure the country and rely on help from former rebels who fought in the 2011 civil war that toppled Khadafy. The militias born out of the war often act above the law.

Amnesty International said last week that Senoussi’s abduction ‘‘casts a shadow on the Libyan authorities’ ability to ensure the safety’’ of around 8,000 detainees held in relation to the 2011 war.

Days after her abduction, Senoussi’s Megraha tribe in Sabha cut the power on pumps that keep water flowing to the northwest and the capital. Water shortages hit Tripoli, forcing hospitals and homes to rely on wells and large tanks.
