Not much happening here....

"Underground Railroad monument unveiled in Lawrence" by Laura Crimaldi | Globe staff   May 02, 2014

LAWRENCE — Since taking charge of this city in January, Mayor Daniel Rivera has campaigned to transform Lawrence’s image as a poor community dogged by public corruption allegations to a “place where great things happen.”

On Friday, the first-term mayor got to celebrate a proud piece of city history by unveiling a monument bearing a plaque marking a site believed to be an Underground Railroad stop....

They are marking sheltering slavery refugees and freedom in front of a credit union.

My lack of enthusiasm for the story has nothing to do with racism; it has to do with looking forward by going back and politicians dedicating a monument in lieu of $olving $y$temic problems. Sorry. One looks at them now and just sees functionaries of money no matter who they are. It's 21st-century AmeriKa, get used to it.
