African Cat Fight

"Miss Massachusetts talks about cheetah attack

The star of the Miss America pageant Sunday night in Atlantic City wasn’t the winner of the competition (that was Miss New York, Kira Kazantsev). It was the genius who came up with the idea to have strange facts about the contestants pop up during their performances. The bits of trivia — which made the pageant seem like a long episode of “Pop-Up Video” — included “Terrified of frogs,” “Is a pescatarian,” “Loves giraffes,” “Loves anything Jane Austin” (yes, they misspelled Austen), and the audience favorite, “Attacked by a cheetah in Zambia.” For the record, it was Miss Massachusetts, Lauren Kuhn, who was attacked by the cheetah. During her ride from Atlantic City back to Boston on Monday, Kuhn told us she had no idea that the weird fact was going to pop up behind her on screen. “I didn’t know they were doing that,” she said, laughing. Kuhn explained that during her trip from Zambia to Botswana during her time studying abroad, she saw a cheetah about 40 feet away. She took a picture. “No flash, of course.” But the big cat didn’t like it. “The cheetah locked eyes with me and started sprinting toward me,” she said. The cheetah pinned Kuhn, but she was rescued and taken to paramedics. “I still have a scar. It’s nothing huge.” Kuhn was the competition’s fourth runner-up, which means she’ll walk away with $10,000, plus a $5,000 scholarship for her science studies. Kuhn is a second-year student at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Her personal platform encourages young women to pursue education. “I took today off,” she told us. “I have a test on Thursday.”

Miss America is Jewish

Why not, huh? Why not take the mask off and let the world see who really rules in the United States, huh?
