SILLI Sunday: Khorasan Coming Out Party

The ISIS propaganda already collapsing?

"Al Qaeda group could be a threat to US aviation" by Ken Dilanian and Eileen Sullivan | Associated Press   September 14, 2014

WASHINGTON — While the Islamic State group is getting the most attention now, another band of extremists in Syria — a mix of hardened jihadis from Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, and Europe — poses a more direct and imminent threat to the United States, working with Yemeni bomb makers to target US aviation, American officials say.

SIGH!

At the center is a cell known as the Khorasan group, a cadre of veteran Al Qaeda fighters from Afghanistan and Pakistan who traveled to Syria to link up with the Al Qaeda affiliate there, the Nusra Front.

Oh, you mean the moderate rebels.

Related: The Killers of Khorasan

It's the only time I saw mention of them.

But the Khorasan militants did not go to Syria principally to fight the government of President Bashar Assad, US officials say. Instead, they were sent by Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri to recruit Europeans and Americans whose passports allow them to board a US-bound airliner with less scrutiny from security officials.

Al-CIA-Duh, Al-CIA-Duh, Al-CIA-Duh, Al-CIA-Duh.

SIGH!

In addition, according to classified US intelligence assessments, the Khorasan militants have been working with bomb-makers from Al Qaeda’s Yemen affiliate to test ways to slip explosives past airport security.

See that wastebasket over there?

The fear is that the Khorasan militants will provide these sophisticated explosives to their Western recruits who could sneak them onto US-bound flights.

The Obama administration has said that the Islamic State group, the target of more than 150 US airstrikes in recent weeks, does not pose an imminent threat to the continental US.

I've been hoodwinked while they go after the wrong group?

The Khorasan group, which has not been subject to American military action, is considered the more immediate threat.

(Blog editor is just shaking his head at the endless twists and turns of the turd log roll by the propaganda pre$$)

Because of intelligence about the collaboration among the Khorasan group, Al Qaeda’s Yemeni bomb makers, and Western extremists, US officials say, the Transportation Security Administration in July decided to ban uncharged mobile phones and laptops from flights to the United States that originated in Europe and the Middle East.

My suggestion is don't fly anymore and arm yourself at home.

The Khorasan group’s plotting with Al Qaeda’s Yemen affiliate shows that, despite the damage that years of drone missile strikes has done to the leadership of core Al Qaeda in Pakistan, the movement still can threaten the West.

Al-CIA-Duh, ISIS, Khorasan, they are coming, they are coming, I wish Obummer hadn't left that border open, they're coming, they're coming, they're coming, they're coming.... sigh. WHATEVER!

It has been rejuvenated in the past year as Al Qaeda offshoots have grown in strength and numbers, bolstered by a flood of Western extremists to a new terrorist safe haven created by Syria’s civil war.

They tell us this and then they tell us Obummer has eradicated them, done a great job, blah, blah, blah!! I just hope you, dear reader, aren't sick of my being sick of this shit. Sorry.

That Yemen affiliate, Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula — also known as AQAP — has been able to place three bombs on US-bound airliners, though none has succeeded in downing the aircraft.

‘‘The group’s repeated efforts to conceal explosive devices to destroy aircraft demonstrate its continued pursuit of high-profile attacks against the West, its increasing awareness of Western security procedures, and its efforts to adapt to those procedures that we adopt,’’ Nicholas Rasmussen, deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center, recently told a Senate panel.

James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, first disclosed during a Senate hearing in January that a group of core Al Qaeda militants from Afghanistan and Pakistan was plotting attacks against the West in Syria.

Why would anyone believeproven liar?

But the group’s name, Khorasan, or its links to Al Qaeda’s Yemen affiliate, which is considered the most dangerous terrorist threat to the United States, have not previously been disclosed.

Khorasan refers to a province under the Islamic caliphate, or religious empire, of old that included parts of Afghanistan.

Many US officials interviewed for this story would not be quoted by name talking about what they said was highly classified intelligence.

Like WMD reports and Iraqi links to 9/11 and all that crap?

Some lawmakers who have been briefed on the Khorasan group threat were willing to discuss it in general terms. One congressman who declined to be identified in order to discuss intelligence matters used the group’s name in conversations with a reporter. The CIA refused to confirm the group’s name or any details in this story.

Representative Adam Schiff, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, declined to name the group. But he described concerns among intelligence officials about ‘‘an unholy mix of people in Iraq and Syria right now — some who come from AQAP, some who come from Afghanistan and Pakistan, others from the Maghreb’’ in North Africa.

‘‘They can combine in ways that could pose a greater threat than their individual pieces. And that’s something we worry about,’’ said Schiff, a California Democrat.

US officials have identified some members of the Khorasan group but would not disclose the individuals’ names because of concerns they would hide from intelligence gathering.

????????

Intelligence officials have been deeply concerned about dozens of Americans and hundreds of Europeans who have gone to fight for various jihadist groups in Syria. Some of those Westerners’ identities are unknown and therefore they are less likely to draw the attention of intelligence officials when they purchase tickets and board a crowded jetliner heading for European and American cities.

What crap.

AQAP’s master bomb maker, Ibrahim al-Asiri, is believed to have built the underwear bomb that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to detonate on a passenger jet over Detroit in December 2009.

Asiri is also believed to have built two bombs hidden in printer cartridges placed on US-bound cargo jets in 2010 and a body bomb that was acquired in a 2012 operation involving Saudi, British, and US intelligence agencies.

Don't shit your pants laughing about those like I did.

US intelligence suggests Asiri and his confederates are trying to tweak their bomb designs so that the explosives can get past airport security and also detonate successfully.

If they manage to do it then time to junk the entire $urveillance $tate, for after 13 years it will have failed mightily and thus must be discarded.

The TSA ban on uncharged laptops and cellphones stemmed from information that Al Qaeda was working with the Khorasan group to pack those devices with hard-to-detect explosives, a US official said.

Blah, blah.

And like clockwork(?):

"US sees other, more direct threats beyond Islamic State" by Mark Mazzetti and Michael S. Schmidt | New York Times   September 21, 2014

PFFFFFT!

WASHINGTON — As the United States begins what could be a lengthy military campaign against the Islamic State, intelligence and law enforcement officials said another Syrian group, led by a shadowy figure who was once among Osama bin Laden’s inner circle, posed a more direct threat to America and Europe.

Oh, no, another shadowy asset or intelligence agency created ghost!

HA-HA-HA-HA!

US officials said that the group called Khorasan has emerged in the past year as the cell in Syria that may be the most intent on hitting the United States or its installations overseas with a terrorist attack.

Then we will HAVE TO INVADE whether Assad, the U.N., or the world objects or not!

Let the FALSE FLAG FLY!!!!!

The officials said the group is led by Muhsin al-Fadhli, a senior Al Qaeda operative who, according to the State Department, was so close to bin Laden that he was among a small group of people who knew about the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks before they were launched.

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!

Oh, man, I never heard of him before and HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! Just STOP IT, NYT!

There is almost no public information about the Khorasan group, which was described by several intelligence, law enforcement and military officials as being made up of Al Qaeda operatives from across the Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa.

Al-CIA-Duuuuuuuuh!

Oh, man does my gut hurt. Maybe it's a surgical bomb, ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Members of the cell are said to be particularly interested in devising terrorist plots using concealed explosives. It is unclear who, besides Fadhli, is part of the Khorasan group.

Smells like it's up propaganda pre$$ ass!

The director of national intelligence, James R. Clapper Jr., said Thursday that “in terms of threat to the homeland, Khorasan may pose as much of a danger as the Islamic State.”

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Where are they being trained, Kansas?

Some US officials and national security experts said the intense focus on Islamic State, and its self-declared caliphate, had distorted the picture of the terrorism threat that has emerged from the chaos of Syria’s civil war, and that the more immediate threats still come from traditional terror groups like Khorasan and the Nusra Front, which is Al Qaeda’s designated affiliate in Syria.

Well, WE KNOW WHAT MOUTHPIECES to BLAME for THAT!

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!

Even the "MSM" was blowing smoke up the wrong hole!!!

Fadhli, 33, has been tracked by US intelligence agencies for at least a decade.

OMG, he is AN AGENT or ASSET of the CIA!!!!!!!

According to the State Department, before Fadhli arrived in Syria, he had been living in Iran as part of a small group of Al Qaeda operatives who had fled to the country from Afghanistan after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Yeah, right, sure.

OMG, this PILE of BOVINE EXCREMENT™ is ABSOLUTELY MONSTROUS and is STEAMING STINKER!

If he had gone to Iran (?why would a Sunni militant that views Shi'ites as heretics go to Iran in the first place? Wouldn't he rather die on the battlefield?) he would have been arrested and jailed, and this Jewish war garbage is implying that Iran harbored and released him.

I can't do this anymore, readers.

Iran’s government said the group was living under house arrest, but the exact circumstances of the Al Qaeda operatives were disputed for years, and many members of the group left Iran for Pakistan, Syria and other countries.

Disputed by who, war-promoting, agenda-pushing organs of Zionism?

Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, is viewed as more focused on consolidating territory it has amassed in Syria and Iraq than on attacking the West. Some even caution that military strikes against Islamic State could antagonize that group into planning attacks on Western targets, and even benefit other militant organizations if more moderate factions of the rebellion are not ready to take power on the ground.

OMG, now they are MAKING EXCUSES for ISIS!

Hey, why not? It's their baby!

Islamic State’s recent statements have sought to deter US action against the group and threatened attacks only as revenge for US strikes.

The great beheaders are now some sort of rational, scared, sympathetic group now?

WTF, NYT?

How can you continue to roll out this crapola log?

"Fierce fighting in Yemeni capital kills 120" Associated Press   September 20, 2014

SANA, Yemen — Shi’ite rebels and Sunni militiamen battled in Sana for a second day Friday in battles that have killed at least 120 people and have shaken the Yemeni capital, with thousands fleeing their homes. The violence raises fears that this chronically unstable country could be dragged into the sort of sectarian conflicts that have plagued other nations in the region.

So what did Hadi do wrong?

Yemen has had years of turmoil and division, particularly a longtime battle with perhaps the most dangerous branch of the Al Qaeda terror network, separatist uprisings in the south, and political upheaval that overthrew a longtime autocrat, all on top of deep poverty and tribal tensions.

But throughout, it had largely been spared Shi’ite-Sunni hatreds like those that tore apart Syria and Iraq.

Oh, the STENCH of INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES! That is one thing throughout all of this: the Yemeni people have always opposed Saleh and the new U.S. puppet Hadi.

Related: Arab Spring Benefited Israel

Yeah, strange how all that has worked out and was so covered by my pre$$.

Just under half the population is Shi’ite, but they almost all belong to a version of Shi’ism — Zaydi — which is seen as very close to Sunni Islam. The two communities have long been intertwined in the political elite and military. For example, the former president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, ousted in 2012, was a Zaydi but most of his political alliances were with Sunnis.

That was shuffling elite deck chairs then.

In the past months, however, the Shi’ite rebels known as the Hawthis have become one of the country’s most powerful players.

Uh-oh. Shi'ite uprisings must be stamped out and destroyed.

They surged from their stronghold in the north, taking a string of cities on their way to the capital, Sana. Their critics accuse them of being allied with Shi’ite-led powerhouse Iran and of seeking to grab power in Yemen or carve out a Shi’ite enclave in the north, claims the movement denies.

SIGH!

Their main opponents have been Sunni Muslim hard-liners — militias and army units allied with the Islah party, which is the Muslim Brotherhood’s branch in Yemen, or tribal fighters sympathetic with the Brotherhood or Al Qaeda.

The MB is funded by Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

So they are stopping terrorists and are going to battle ISIS on the one hand while creating more of them on the other, 'eh? Wherever militant Muslim mercenaries are needed, right?

The government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, an ally of the United States, appears largely caught in the middle.

Byyyyyyye!

Think Maliki.

Meeting with foreign diplomats on Friday, Hadi described the Hawthis’ escalation in the capital as a ‘‘coup attempt aimed at toppling the state.’’

UH-Huh. UH-huh. Uh-HUH.

The United Nations has been trying to mediate a political deal between Hadi and the Hawthis, who say they seek economic reforms and a new government.

HA-HA-HA-HA!

There has been talk for days of an imminent deal, even as both sides have built up forces in the capital.

That is how you get a deal. I know because the mass-murdering global war machine that is my government told me so.

Even if an agreement is reached, ‘‘the hatreds are now running deep because of the killings and the destruction between Sunnis and Zaydis could develop into sectarian violence,’’ said Abdel-Rahman al-Rashid, a political analyst based in Sana.

Aaaaah, the old standby that I no longer believe.

"Curfew set up after rebels take state TV

SANA — Yemen’s top security body imposed an overnight curfew in areas of the capital, Sana, Saturday after Shi’ite rebels seized the state television building amid clashes and the UN envoy to the country signaled that a deal had been reached to end the violence. It follows days of clashes between Shi’ite rebels, called Hawthis, and Sunni militiamen linked to the Muslim Brotherhood (AP)."

"Rescuers evacuate 50,000 in floods

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s disaster management agency said Saturday that rescuers with boats and helicopters had evacuated about 50,000 people from the country’s south after raging floods inundated more villages there. Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Agency said about two dozen people were killed in the eastern Punjab province, raising the death toll from rains and flooding to 346 (AP)."

Immediately after the resolution was adopted by a 35-20 vote, Japan said it will launch a new ‘‘research’’ program that will resume hunting in the Antarctic in 2015. Approval from the commission’s scientific committee isn’t mandatory, but Japan’s resumption of Antarctic whaling without the body’s specific consent after a one-year pause would likely face intense scrutiny."

That item seems to have gotten a lot more than the floods.

Time for some tea:

"‘Three Cups of Tea’ author plans reluctant return" by Matt Volz | Associated Press   September 19, 2014

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Greg Mortenson doesn’t want to talk about his best-selling ‘‘Three Cups of Tea’’ book, but everybody else does — including his own charity.

Three years ago, ‘‘60 Minutes’’ and author Jon Krakauer alleged Mortenson fabricated much of the book and mismanaged the charity he co-founded, Central Asia Institute.

Seems to be a pattern with the cho$en ones.

The allegations pushed Mortenson to lock himself in his bedroom. He fought off depression and eventually underwent heart surgery.

Awwww, poor lying crook!

The Central Asia Institute lost most of its donors, with contributions plummeting from a high of about $22 million in 2010 to $2.7 million last year.

The group’s new leaders have slashed the budget and cut school construction programs, but they still had to borrow from savings to meet expenses. Board chairman Steve Barrett is worried about its long-term financial health.

Another CIA (CAI?) front gone bad?

So Barrett and the other board members are calling on Mortenson to help reverse the skid by appearing in promotional videos and resuming the speaking engagements he put on hold in 2011. Mortenson, who said he’s feels healthier than he has in 18 years, has reluctantly agreed.

I'd rather he didn't.

‘‘There’s a lot of pressure on me to go out and start talking to the public and the media, which I was reluctant to do. Not only because things kind of quieted down and I’m kind of liking my life, but I also don’t want to have to open up all these cans of worms again,’’ he said in an interview at his Bozeman home on Tuesday.

‘‘I feel like a criminal coming back,’’ he added.

He has a guilty conscience, huh?

He knows the questions that will dog him. Did he make up the story about how he decided to devote his life to building schools? Was he really kidnapped by the Taliban when visiting a remote part of northwestern Pakistan? Did he lie to sell books?

OMG, it's MORE and MORE PROPAGANDA and LIES!!!

The Central Asia Institute wants Mortenson to tell his side of the story in hopes it can move past the ‘‘60 Minutes’’ piece and get back to educating children. Krakauer said Wednesday that Mortenson must come clean before the public will forgive him. He believes that Central Asia Institute will not prosper as long as Mortenson is its public face.

‘‘Greg needs to go, right now,’’ Krakauer said. ‘‘Until Greg is gone, there is no hope for having an honest organization.’’

Barrett, for his part, said Mortenson must be involved in any effort to bring the institute back to financial stability.

‘‘Greg is recognizable, he commands an audience and people want to hear what happened,’’ Barrett said. ‘‘People are going to be wondering, so he has to be a part of it.’’

It’s a risky gambit, and Mortenson is not sure if the public will give him a second chance.

Have I helped you make up your mind?

But he said the Central Asia Institute is doing good work by supporting the education of children, especially girls, in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, and it’s up to him to raise funds to make sure it can continue.

Awwwwwwwwww.

When is the next drone strike?

Mortenson apologized for letting people down. He insists the stories in ‘‘Three Cups of Tea’’ are true, though he has changed the telling of some of them since they were published.

These people that appear in my paper....

WHAT SCUM!!!!!!

Why not drag China into all this?

"Dalai Lama praises China’s leader" by Katy Daigle | Associated Press   September 21, 2014

NEW DELHI — The Dalai Lama praised Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday for being ‘‘more realistic’’ and principled than his predecessors, a day after Xi’s three-day visit to India ended.

Who cares what that CIA asset has to say?

Always wondered why he was so well received here.

The Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader has lived in exile for decades in India’s Himalayan foothill city of Dharamsala, after fleeing China after a failed 1959 uprising.

US helped get him out.

The arrangement has irritated Beijing, which has long accused the Dalai Lama of fomenting unrest and encouraging Buddhist monks to self-immolate in demanding more autonomy for Tibet, a Himalayan region in western China.

Not enough to start a war, though.

However, Beijing’s attitude appears to be shifting, the Dalai Lama said, noting that China’s Communist leaders, who officially are atheist, are now ‘‘mentioning the importance of spiritualism.’’

‘‘There are a lot of changes,’’ the Dalai Lama told reporters.

He said that since becoming president in March 2013, Xi has demonstrated ‘‘through his handling of problems, he is comparatively more realistic and with more principles’’ than his predecessors.

The remarks brought no immediate comment from China’s government or state media. However, Beijing has previously denounced the Dalai Lama as a separatist traitor and warned that any of his moderate comments are deceptive.

Yeah, he is very charming.

China insists the Himalayan region has been part of Chinese territory for centuries, while Tibetans say it was virtually independent until China occupied it in 1950.

India is home to a large Tibetan community as well as Tibet’s government-in-exile. During Xi’s visit to New Delhi this past week, dozens of Tibetan protesters shouting ‘‘Hands off Tibet!’’ staged a noisy demonstration outside the building where he was meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Dalai Lama also said Saturday on the sidelines of an interfaith meeting in New Delhi that India and China should put aside any animosities they harbor over a long-festering border dispute and ‘‘remain peaceful on the basis of mutual trust,’’ according to Press Trust of India.

They are doing just that! Why is the man of peace(?) stirring it up?

The border dispute, over which the two nations fought a bloody monthlong war in 1962, has complicated relations for decades, with the two militaries in a tense standoff even while Xi was in New Delhi.

Some people sure are pulling for it.

Both Xi and Modi vowed special efforts in resolving the dispute as they work to boost economic cooperation.

Huh?

The Dalai Lama also praised India for proving that communities can live peacefully together, and he said India must show its example of religious harmony to the rest of the world.

?????????

‘‘India is the only country where all major world religions live together, not only in modern time but over 1,000 years,’’ he said in opening the two-day interfaith meeting he had organized for leaders from nine religious communities to mull some of India’s most pressing and seemingly endemic problems — from gender violence and widespread poverty to environmental degradation and communal violence.

The guy is either senile or insane then. How delusional and out of touch.

India has been soul-searching somewhat, since national elections stirred up questions about the nation’s identity and ambitions for the future as it pushes for rapid economic growth and 21st century technologies even as three-fourths of its 1.2 billion population still live on less than $1.25 a day.

The landslide victory by Modi and his Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party left some worried that his association with Hindu hard-liners could encourage violence between Muslims and Hindus, who make up 80 percent of the country’s population.

I wasn't going to mention that or the fact that Modi was designated a terrorist at one point by the U.S. government because I didn't want to trouble the old fart with the contradiction of his narrative.

So, does the cock suck work without teeth?

The Dalai Lama said religious violence had no justification.

‘‘For economy reasons or political power, of course it’s very sad but understandable,’’ he said. “But killing in the name of faith, for different religious faith, [is] unthinkable.’’

What babble!

Go tell it to Israel or Obummer, you old coot!
