Gloucester Bouncer No Superman

"A Beverly man was arrested Saturday on charges of shooting a man after a dispute at a Gloucester eating establishment, police said. The 29-year-old victim, a bouncer at a bar and restaurant in the St. Peter’s Square area, had kicked out James Hewson late Friday, according to a statement from Gloucerster police. Police said Hewson then came back to the establishment and shot the man in the leg. After a chase involving an Essex County sheriff’s deputy and Gloucester police, the vehicle was stopped at around 1 a.m. and Hewson was arrested. The victim, whose name is not being released, had injuries that were not life-threatening, the statement said. Hewson, 57, was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. He is being held on $500,000 bail."
