The False Promise of Fart Mist

"Many renewable-power firms are canceling projects, laying off workers.... Many newly trained workers are having trouble finding jobs.... schools could end up producing too many workers for too few jobs.... (And they will either outsource or import to cover those) set realistic expectations among students.... "'Can you guarantee me a job?' And the answer is, 'Absolutely not.' ""

I can tell you from experience; the school drilled this agenda-pushing stuff into the kids heads.

Hey, I'm all for clean energy and good jobs -- just DECENTRALIZE the THING!!

And with all the bailouts going on, how about outfitting every house with solar?

It would provide jobs and be less than the trillions we've gone into hock for!

"Alternate-energy classes on rise; 2-year colleges add offerings" by Terence Chea, Associated Press | April 14, 2009

SAN JOSE, Calif. - As the economy sheds jobs, community colleges are reporting a surge of unemployed workers enrolling in courses that offer training for "green-collar" jobs.

Students are learning how to install solar panels, repair wind turbines, produce biofuels, and do other work related to renewable energy. "I think the opportunities in this field are going to be huge," said Rudy Gastelo, who left the construction industry two years ago.

To meet growing demand, two-year colleges are launching or expanding green job training with money from the federal stimulus package. Students and schools are betting that President Obama's campaign to promote alternative energy and curb global warming will create millions of well-paying jobs that do not require a four-year degree.

Sigh. That damn useless history degree.

But the steep economic downturn has not spared the green energy industry, which had been expanding rapidly before the financial crisis. Many renewable-power firms are canceling projects, laying off workers, or selling themselves to competitors because business has dried up.

"A lot of companies are not going to make it," said Ron Pernick, cofounder of the market research firm Clean Edge Inc. Many newly trained workers are having trouble finding jobs, and some people worry schools could end up producing too many workers for too few jobs.

"Even in these areas with great potential, the number of actual positions is way down from where they could be," said Barry Sedlick, who chairs the California Green Collar Jobs Council. But many college officials believe there will be strong demand for green-collar workers once the economy rebounds and governments move to limit greenhouse gas emissions and require more alternative energy.

Are you not tired of that damn harmful lie?!

The federal stimulus package sets aside tens of billions of dollars to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. It will also create thousands of jobs retrofitting government buildings and public housing to make them more energy-efficient. "The recovery package will help move industry forward and offer a lot of opportunities for workers at all levels," said Mindy Feldbaum, at the National Institute for Work and Learning.

The renewable energy industry generated about 500,000 jobs and $43 billion revenue in the United States in 2007. The much broader energy-efficiency industry generated 8.6 million jobs and $1 trillion in revenue, according to the American Solar Energy Society. The study projected that the two sectors could employ 16 million to 37 million people by 2030, depending on government policy.

In Florida, Palm Beach Community College expects to enroll 200 students this fall - up from 20 last fall - in a new associate's degree program that focuses on alternative energy sources.

Associate dean Sam Freas is optimistic about green energy's long-term prospects, but he is careful to set realistic expectations among students. "They look at me and say, 'Can you guarantee me a job?' And the answer is, 'Absolutely not.' "

Most new students are men who lost jobs in the auto industry, which makes them eligible for a state program that provides $10,000 for training. "They see the field of alternative energy as the industry that's going to pick up where the automotive industry left off," said David Wilson, who coordinates the alternative energy program.

Pffffffffffftttt!

Nevertheless, we get FART-FACED POLITICIANS SPEWING S***!!!!

"'Green revolution' a boon for state, congressman says" by Erin Ailworth, Globe Staff | April 14, 2009

CAMBRIDGE - The state is poised to reap the benefits of the nation's push for renewable-energy technologies and the fight against climate change, US Representative Edward Markey said during an environmental forum yesterday at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"Massachusetts is at the epicenter of this revolution," Markey said afterward....

Says the main fart-mister of the Mass. delegation.

I don't want this kind of revolution!

"We have an opportunity to capture a disproportionate amount of the economic benefits that will flow from the 'green revolution,' " Markey said.

At whose expense, taxpayers?

Markey served as host of the conference, at which about 300 people also heard Carol M. Browner, President Obama's adviser on energy and climate change, and John P. Holdren, the president's adviser on science and technology policy. They discussed energy efficiency, the creation of green jobs, and the need for comprehensive energy legislation.

Uh-oh! One of the DUMBEST IDEAS I HAVE EVER HEARD:

"Global warming is so dire that the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth's air. John P. Holdren told the Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays"

Yup, GOVERNMENT talking about ALTERING the WEATHER, but if you SAY THAT out here you are a "conspiracy" theorist (Btw, anybody hear a HAARP?)!

Please read Nuking Yellowstone National Park to Halt Global Warming for what a STOO-PID IDEA this is even IF GLOBAL WARMING where real -- which it is NOT if you follow the blogs and read what the EVIDENCE is suggesting!!!

Watch: Global Warming Meltdown

Or BETTER YET, just MONITOR YOUR LOCAL SURROUNDINGS!!!! This has been one of the COLDEST, MOST BRUTAL WINTERS on record and the SPRING TEMPERATURES have been BELOW-AVERAGE HERE for the past TWO WEEKS!! But does the PAPER ever PUBLICIZE THAT, other than deeply burying a shit sentence or two in one of their propaganda pieces?!!! Nope!

Had it with the lies, America?

"We need to be looking at all the issues," Browner said. Markey, Democrat of Malden, coauthored a bill that is set to be taken up by Congress next week. It includes provisions to promote energy efficiency and a low-carbon fuel standard and to require 25 percent of the nation's electricity to come from renewable sources, such as wind and solar power, by 2025.

Speakers stressed the need for the United States to take the lead in combating climate change, while redefining the way electricity and other fuels are produced and consumed.

"Our dependence on foreign oil distorts our foreign policy, our military policy, our environmental policy, our economic policy," Markey said. And as one of the world's largest producers of carbon dioxide, the United States "cannot preach temperance from a barstool," he added.

Nor can we preach HUMAN RIGHTS because of TORTURE, etc.

And how about STOPPING the WAR MACHINE -- the BIGGEST POLLUTER on the planet and the securer of the OIL, hmmmm?

Where are you, fart-misting protesters?

Holdren said national policy, in part, needs to focus on government investment in research and development, as well as incentives to spur development of clean technologies. "The energy challenge we face is actually more difficult a challenge than putting a man on the moon," he said.

Says the guy who says we should shoot pollution into the atmosphere!

Sadly, I'm beginning to wonder about that whole moon thing now, too. We've been lied to about so much.
