Green Cars Kill

I've seen some of these little hybrids in the area and they are soda cans!

Hey, what's giving your life for a lie, anyway?

Americans seem to be glad to do it in wars based on lies.

Then again, maybe it was USING the BLACKBERRY WHILE DRIVING(?) that killed her.

"Brigham physician killed in car crash; Top internist was loved by patients, hospital's staff" by David Abel, Globe Staff | April 23, 2009

.... The 60-year-old Jen's relatively small hybrid car collided with a Toyota Sequoia. The woman who was driving the sport utility vehicle and her two passengers suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Their names were not released.

Investigators said it does not appear that speed or alcohol played a role in the crash, but police said they are investigating whether Jen was using her BlackBerry at the time.... They also said it does not appear that Jen was wearing a seat belt. The three in the Sequoia were wearing seat belts.

Robert Schlauch, Jen's husband, said she sometimes did not wear a seat belt because she felt "nothing bad would ever happen to her." The couple celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in January.

He described Jen - a mother of three, a doctor to about 3,000 patients, and a supervisor of nearly 150 doctors, residents, and other Brigham staff - as "effervescent . . . extremely attentive, involved, and loving."

The couple traveled the world when Jen wasn't working, but she loved to work. She saw patients, e-mailed them, or spoke to colleagues nearly all the time, often doing "six or eight things at once," Schlauch said. "She was a master at multitasking," he said....

Just not in the car while driving.

Imagine if a teenage kid did this; the agenda-pushers would be calling for restrictions on the
texting, etc, etc -- and rightly so -- however, I can't help but think class and religious ethnicity has something to do with the jooish Globe's easy take on this story.

Update:

The censorship does get to me.

"Neighbors call site of Needham crash dangerous; Two teenagers died in wreck nearby in 2006" by Lisa Kocian, Globe Staff | April 24, 2009

Oh, it's the intersection now, even though traffic records wouldn't seem to confirm that
.

.... Jen, the longtime medical director of a major physicians' group at Brigham and Women's Hospital, died after her 2007 Toyota Prius apparently crossed the center lane just before 6 p.m., as she was driving to her Needham home after work, according to police.

Jen's car collided with a Toyota Sequoia; the three people in that vehicle were not seriously injured. Police said Wednesday it did not appear speed or alcohol played a role in the crash, but they were investigating whether Jen was using her Blackberry.

Yesterday, police Chief Thomas Leary said he could not go into detail about the investigation. He said there are many issues to consider, such as whether Jen had a health issue that could have contributed to the crash. "Although there was a cellphone in the vehicle, it doesn't necessarily mean that was the case here that this motorist was using a cellphone," he said....

Think how often the police don't bend over backwards and then ask yourself why?

The police chief said the nearly half-mile stretch of Greendale Avenue where Jen's crash occurred has been the site of two to three crashes annually over the last five years, which "isn't exceptionally high."

Hey, I don't know what to believe.

I know what I
do believe.
