"Jurors break in mother’s murder trial
Jurors will resume deliberations Monday in the first-degree murder trial of Carolyn Riley, the Hull woman accused of killing her 4-year-old daughter, Rebecca, with an overdose of psychotropic drugs. The jurors spent four hours reviewing the case yesterday before breaking for the weekend. Plymouth Superior Court Judge Charles Hely declined one of their requests to see written copies of reports from three physicians who gave varying accounts of how the child died. Defense attorneys say the child died of fast-acting pneumonia, but prosecutors allege that the 35-year-old mother gave Rebecca lethal amounts of clonidine, a sedating medication, before she died on Jan. 13, 2006.
