Around Africa: South African Hate Speech

In attempting to understand the selective coverage the AmeriKan jewsmedia provides one must remember that Israel supported the apartheid government while the ANC supported Palestinians.

Then the tone and tenor of the articles make sense.

Winnie's Wining:

"Nelson Mandela’s ex-wife says former president made bad deal for blacks" by Donna Bryson, Associated Press | March 11, 2010

JOHANNESBURG — Nelson Mandela’s former wife has bitterly criticized the 92-year-old antiapartheid icon as having “let us down,’’ prompting outrage yesterday in South Africa.

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela said she could not forgive her former husband for accepting the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 alongside South Africa’s president, F.W. De Klerk, according to Tuesday’s Evening Standard, a British newspaper. De Klerk released Mandela from prison and went on to participate in negotiations that ended apartheid.

“He agreed to a bad deal for the blacks,’’ Madikizela-Mandela was quoted as saying. “Economically, we are still on the outside. The economy is very much ‘white.’ It has a few token blacks, but so many who gave their life in the struggle have died unrewarded.’’

The Star newspaper in Johannesburg accused Madikizela-Mandela of unleashing a rant.

Mandela is revered by blacks and whites in South Africa but is not above criticism. The most common complaints are that he devoted too much time during his presidency to seeking reconciliation with whites and too little to uplifting blacks mired in poverty.

After a series of scandals over violence and fraud, Madikizela-Mandela also has regained prominence in the governing African National Congress, where she is embraced by young members impatient with the pace of change since apartheid ended in 1994.

After internal party voting, she was high on the ANC’s list of candidates in last year’s elections, and sits in parliament.

In the interview, Madikizela-Mandela is quoted accusing the current ANC leadership of exploiting Mandela’s image while sidelining him as a leader. She also accuses his foundations of using him to raise money.

Mandela is largely retired now, with several foundations carrying out his work. In February, Madikizela-Mandela called the foundations “a lasting tribute to his legacy.’’

The Standard article also quotes Madikizela-Mandela as criticizing South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which was an attempt to address the horrors of apartheid without pursuing retribution. In the interview, she calls its leader, Nobel Peace laureate Desmond Tutu, a “cretin.’’

The remark certainly was cretinous.

Tutu, through his office, refused to comment yesterday.

Like we would care?

So how many kids has he fanny-f***ed, huh?

"Mandela’s ex-wife denies interview" by Associated Press | March 13, 2010

JOHANNESBURG — Nelson Mandela’s former wife denied yesterday that she had given an interview to a British newspaper in which she was quoted sharply criticizing the antiapartheid icon.

The London Evening Standard had quoted Winnie Madikizela-Mandela as saying that her former husband had “let us down’’ and that she could not forgive him for accepting the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 alongside white president F.W. De Klerk.

Why not? Obomber has rendered that thing meaningless.

Pffft!

A completely worthless prize bestowed by genocidal globalists!

Madikizela-Mandela said she did not grant an interview to the newspaper but she did not specifically deny making the remarks, which created a stir in South Africa after they were carried by local media....

The Evening Standard said the conversation with Madikizela-Mandela was conducted with Nadira Naipaul, wife of Nobel literature laureate V.S. Naipaul.

“Nadira Naipaul is a distinguished journalist who visited Winnie Mandela at home and spoke to her at length about her experiences,’’ the newspaper said in a statement. “We cannot understand Winnie Mandela’s denial of an event and conversation which clearly took place.’’

Do I look as if I care?

"ANC official convicted of hate speech" by Associated Press | March 16, 2010

JOHANNESBURG — A court convicted the governing party’s youth leader of hate speech yesterday after he said the woman who once accused South Africa’s president of rape had had a “nice time’’ because she stayed the night and asked for taxi money....

Isn't that hate speech?

Jacob Zuma was acquitted of rape in 2006 after he insisted that the sex was consensual and went on to become president last year....

The latest complaints involve Julius Malema, president of the African National Congress youth league, [and his] decision last week to lead college students in singing a song that calls for the killing of white South African farmers.

The judge who convicted Malema ordered him to make an unconditional public apology within two weeks and pay $6,700 to a center for abused women, called People Opposing Women Abuse, within a month, South African media reported.

“Instead of perpetuating rape myths, public figures should make it clear that rape can happen anywhere. . . . We need to make sure that women who have been raped are not stigmatized and are not made to feel like the crimes against them were their fault,’’ said Mbuyiselo Botha, speaking for the Sonke Gender Justice group that took Malema to the Johannesburg Equality Court.

Malema was not present in court to hear yesterday’s judgment. Malema’s lawyer said his client will appeal soon.
