Polish People Not So Stupid

Actually pretty darn smart, something of which I take a wee bit of pride.

Memory and truth are stronger than the greatest tragedies’’

And IDEAS are BULLET-PROOF!!!!!

And no, I never tell Polish jokes; however, I am not offended in the least. I'm not laughing, but I had to grow up with them so if I don't have a problem with it no one else should.

Nothing funny about this at all:

"Polish president and wife buried in Krakow" by Dan Bilefsky, International Herald Tribune | April 19, 2010

KRAKOW — About 150,000 Poles bade farewell to their president and first lady yesterday in an emotional funeral service here that capped more than a week of public mourning, with the shadow of a special presidential election looming in the background....

As the period of mourning came to a close, the political repercussions began to move to the foreground.

The frikkin' paper and their politics!

Still unclear was whether President Lech Kaczynski’s twin brother and former prime minister, Jaroslaw, would declare his candidacy in the election. Early opinion surveys showed daunting odds for Kaczynski, but the extraordinary outpouring of feeling since the crash has made for an unpredictable environment....

Undeterred by the cloud of ash from the Icelandic volcano, Russia’s president, Dmitri A. Medvedev, flew to Krakow for the service, where the airport was open only for official delegations. Germany’s president, Horst Kohler, arrived by helicopter, while the Czech president, Vaclav Klaus, traveled by train and car.

President Obama was among the leaders forced to cancel because of the volcano’s expanding ash cloud. Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Nicolas Sarkozy of France, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi of Italy, and Prince Charles also canceled.

Okay, NOW CONSIDER THOSE TWO SETS of leaders, dear readers, and then look at these:

God Throws Ash Into the Gears of the War Machine

Volcanic Ash Cloud Parts For Pope

God Turns Gulf of Mexico Into Gulf of Oil

I think SOMEONE IS DEFINITELY SENDING a MESSAGE from ON HIGH!

Now, I DO NOT KNOW WHO or WHAT it is, but I BELIEVE SOMETHING is UP THERE in those COSMOS!

HAS TO BE when you consider ALL the ODD COINCIDENCES, no?

Bronislaw Komorowski, speaker of the lower house of Parliament and the acting president since Kaczynski’s death, thanked the visiting delegations for coming and called for “Polish unity and unity with the Russian nation, in the name of overcoming the Katyn tragedy.’’

Uh-oh, Amerika!

WHO LOST POLAND???

Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, archbishop of Krakow, said: “The tragedy which took place eight days ago gave rise to much good among the people and nations. The sympathy and aid we witnessed on the part of our Russian brothers gives hope for the coming together of our two Slavic nations.’’

“Memory and truth are stronger than the greatest tragedies,’’ Janusz Sniadek, the chairman of the Solidarity trade union, said....

Solidarnosc!!!!

Of course, you know what
memory, truth, and tragedy I am talking about, right, readers?

And what does the AmeriKan MSM care about?

You guessed it.

"Poland to replace late president in June" by Associated Press | April 22, 2010

WARSAW — Poland’s Parliament speaker set June 20 as the date yesterday for an early election to replace President Lech Kaczynski, kicking off an election season overshadowed by the plane crash that killed him and dozens of other civilian and military figures....

Both parties have been deep in mourning and have not yet chosen new candidates.

In Poland, most power lies with the government, which is elected separately from the president. The presidency is mainly ceremonial, though a president can veto legislation and as commander in chief has some influence over foreign policy....

Same in AmeriKa.

"Twin brother of late Polish president wants to replace him; Will seek post in summer election" by Associated Press | April 27, 2010

WARSAW — The elections were moved up to June 20 after Lech Kaczynski, his wife, Maria, and 94 others, including top civilian and military leaders, were killed April 10 in Smolensk, Russia, en route to World War II observances. They were to pay respects to some 22,000 Poles killed in 1940 by the Soviet secret security in the Katyn forest and in other places.

The president’s term was to expire in December and elections had been planned in the fall. Lech Kaczynski had been expected to seek a second five-year term. The brothers were in the past both members of anticommunist opposition and served as advisers to the Solidarity freedom movement in the 1980s. Another candidate, Parliamentary Speaker Bronislaw Komorowski, is now acting president.
