“We’re going to overturn this unjust and racist law, and then we’re going to overturn the power structure that created this unjust, racist law’’ -- Representative Raul Grijalva of Arizona, a Democrat
Isn't that something of a TERRORIST THREAT, dear readers?
The THREAT of OVERTHROWING the state?

Update on minutes from the last meeting:
"Brown will meet with immigrants’ advocate; Group hopes students’ stories will sway him" by Maria Sacchetti, Globe Staff | April 17, 2010
Senator Scott Brown has agreed to meet with a representative of a group pushing for legal residency for unauthorized immigrant students, his spokeswoman said yesterday.
Group members say that while they will not immediately ask Brown to take a position on immigration, they hope students’ stories will influence his thinking on the matter.
The meeting, to take place in the next four to six weeks, comes after 300 people signed an online petition and a day after nine members of the Student Immigrant Movement said they held a sit-in at his Boston office to urge the Republican senator to meet with them....
When I think of all the sit-ins and other protests the agenda-pushing Globe as they push an illegals protest anytime one foot hits the pavement, well.... we know about the selective, agenda-pushing coverage of protests now.
See: The Boston Globe's Crack of the Bat
You never see the fart-misters there, notice that?
The Student Immigrant Movement is pushing for legislation known as the federal Dream Act, which would allow young immigrants to apply for legal residency nationwide....
Brown opposes driver’s licenses and in-state college tuition and other government-funded benefits for immigrants here illegally....
I'm JUST WONDERING WHAT PART of ILLEGAL and LAWFUL SOCIETY the NEWSPAPER does not understand.
They sure preach the law enough to us CITIZENS!
--more--""Ariz. governor signs tough immigration bill; Obama, critics decry measure as too harsh" by Randal C. Archibold, New York Times | April 24, 2010
PHOENIX — Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona signed the nation’s toughest bill on illegal immigration into law yesterday: Its aim is to identify, prosecute, and deport illegal immigrants.
The move unleashed immediate protests and reignited the divisive battle on overhauling national immigration laws....
Just what our country needs when we are united on so many things like SINGLE-PAYER HEALTH CARE, and END to the WARS, and NO MORE LOOTING!
President Obama strongly criticized it. Speaking at a naturalization ceremony for 24 active-duty service members in the Rose Garden, he called for a federal overhaul of immigration laws, which congressional leaders signaled they were preparing to take up soon, to avoid “irresponsibility by others.’’ The Arizona law, he added, threatened “to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe.’’
Why not DEFEND ILLEGALITY seeing as you head a WAR CRIMINAL GOVERNMENT, sir?
And you can FORGET about any TRUST ever again!
Not THIS GOVERNMENT!
And as for KEEPING US SAFE, you DAMN WELL BETTER, sir!
Have I made my point?
The law, which proponents and critics alike said was the broadest and strictest immigration measure in generations, would make the failure to carry immigration documents a crime and give the police broad power to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally. Opponents have called it an open invitation for harassment and discrimination against Hispanics regardless of their citizenship status.
The political debate leading up to Brewer’s decision, and Obama’s criticism of the law — presidents very rarely weigh in on state legislation — underscored the power of the immigration debate in states along the Mexican border. It presaged the polarizing arguments that await the president and Congress as they take up the issue nationally.
Why? Why now?
That North American Union almost ready to roll?
Mexico’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it was worried about the rights of its citizens and relations with Arizona.
Then take 'em all back. I'm sure that narco-state of violence will treat them real well.
The Catholic archbishop of Los Angeles called the authorities’ ability to demand documents Nazism.
Well SCREW the CATHOLIC CHURCH on this one!
How many little Hispanic boys have they given the high hard one to?
I guess that's their way of saying the love you, illegals.
And where you going to go to report the rape, huh? The cops?
Damn priests really are sick!
And when was the LAST TIME you spoke out against the DOMESTIC SPYING if you are SO WORRIED about FASCISM, my unholy dioceses.
As hundreds of demonstrators massed, mostly peacefully, at the capitol plaza, the governor, speaking at a state building a few miles away, said the law “represents another tool for our state to use as we work to solve a crisis we did not create and the federal government has refused to fix.’’
Why can't we have a wall like Israel?
I don't see anyone hollering racism in the streets or a full-fledged MSM focus on that one.
And the MSM sure can find those illegals when they hit the streets, 'eh?
***********
Court challenges were expected immediately.
Of course.
Hispanics, in particular, who were not long ago courted by the Republican Party as a swing voting bloc, railed against the law as a recipe for racial and ethnic profiling.
“Governor Brewer caved to the radical fringe,’’ a statement by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund said, predicting that the law would create “a spiral of pervasive fear, community distrust, increased crime, and costly litigation, with nationwide repercussions.’’
That is the way I see you threatening a**holes.
While police demands of documents are common on subways, highways, and in public places in some countries, including France, Arizona is the first state to demand that immigrants meet federal requirements to carry identity documents legitimizing their presence on American soil.
Yeah, what right do the authorities have enforcing the law against illegals, huh?
Why not LET OUT all the JAILS then, huh?
I mean WTF?
Why should I have to abide by ANY LAW of this government then?
Brewer acknowledged critics’ concerns, saying she will work to ensure that the police have proper training to carry out the law. But she sided with arguments by the law’s sponsors that it provides an indispensable tool for the police in a border state that is a leading magnet of illegal immigration. She said racial profiling will not be tolerated, adding, “We have to trust our law enforcement.’’
Sorry, nope.
Fascist enforcers lost my trust when they stopped protecting and serving.
Brewer and other elected leaders have come under intense political pressure here, exacerbated by the killing of a rancher in southern Arizona by a suspected smuggler a couple of weeks before the state Legislature voted on the bill. His death was invoked Thursday by Brewer as she announced a plan urging the federal government to post National Guard troops at the border. President George W. Bush had attempted to overhaul immigration laws but failed when his own party split over the issue.
But the American people were not split!! 90% FLOODED the place with calls opposing amnesty and the New World Order!

"Arizona immigration law stirs emotions; In Boston, strict measure greeted with outrage, protests, and praise for controls" by Peter Schworm and Liz Kowalczyk, Globe Staff | April 25, 2010
In Massachusetts, where an estimated 190,000 immigrants live illegally, the unusually strong measure, which would give police sweeping powers to detain those suspected of immigration violations, drew visceral reactions on both sides yesterday....
Widely seen as the nation’s toughest crackdown, the Arizona measure immediately rekindled the heated debate over undocumented residents, causing an uproar among immigrant groups and triggering demonstrations across the country.
And taking the focus off of Goldman Sachs. Isn't that odd?
President Obama denounced the law Friday, calling it “misguided’’ and said it threatens to “undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe.’’
Yeah, SO MUCH for the RULE of LAW in AmeriKa!
****************
The Arizona law, which will take effect this summer, also makes it a state crime to be in the country illegally, and toughens restrictions on hiring illegal immigrants. Some two dozen activists led the demonstration, holding signs condemning the law and chanting defiant slogans in English and Spanish. “No human being is illegal,’’ they said.
You guys have obviously have never heard of Israeli-occupied Palestine.
Activists held a candlelight vigil yesterday evening to protest the law. Immigrants make up about 14 percent of the state’s population, about one in five of whom live here illegally.
How could they have any clue as to how many are living here illegally?
Just something the MSM says, and we are just supposed to nod and say "Yup," huh?
Activists said the measure would drive illegal residents into the shadows and create a climate of fear and distrust among Latinos. Children born in the United States to parents who lack the proper immigration documents would live in constant worry their family would be split up, they said. “This is unfair, this is unconstitutional, this is un-American,’’ said Andres, a 19-year-old student at Suffolk University whose mother lives here illegally....
Not trying to be mean; however, I am SICK of HEARING OTHER PEOPLE BITCH, 'kay?
"Activists call on Obama to fight Ariz. law" by Associated Press | April 26, 2010
PHOENIX — Civil rights activists called on President Obama to fight a tough new Arizona law targeting illegal immigrants yesterday, promising to march in the streets and invite arrest by refusing to comply if the measure goes into effect.
Be my guest. I don't mind tax dollars going for this.
Representative Raul Grijalva of Arizona told about 3,500 protesters gathered at the state Capitol that the Obama administration can help defeat the law by refusing to cooperate when illegal immigrants are picked up by local police and turned over to federal immigration officers.
They ALREADY DO THAT NOW!

No better than a tea-bagger.
And you KNOW what is ALL ABOUT, right, folks?
It's all for the VOTES!
"Many Hispanic voters feel disenchanted with politics; Slow movement on immigration overhaul is factor" by Sandhya Somashekhar, Washington Post | April 18, 2010
Yeah, well WELCOME to the CLUB!
Us ANTIWAR folks are in front so GET to the BACK of the LINE (and don't you dare holler racist)!
AURORA, Colo. — Maria Garcia can rattle off a dozen things that are more important to her than politics. Her sky-high mortgage payments, for instance. The convenience store she owns that isn’t making money. And at this moment, the chili peppers toasting in the store’s kitchen.
“I don’t have time to think about politics,’’ she said. “Ten years ago, I was doing good. But right now, when you have all these problems, you feel lazy. You can’t do anything. Sometimes, it’s better that you have nothing because you just have to make money to eat and to pay rent.’’
She has been naturalized sure enough!
Garcia was among the 61 percent of Hispanic voters in Colorado who turned out in 2008 to vote for Barack Obama. But her political disengagement now hints at the difficulty Democrats face in rallying their core constituencies before the November midterm elections.
I thought they were deserting the Repugs in droves.
Nice to see a newspaper air a repeat of a news article, isn't it?
Among Hispanics, one concern often voiced is that Obama has not moved quickly on changing immigration laws. He campaigned on the issue two years ago, but he and his party appear hesitant to take on such a contentious problem soon after overhauling health care.
Just wondering when the TAXPAYING American CITIZEN is going to have THEIR CONCERNS ADDRESSED!
Immigrant advocacy groups have ratcheted up the pressure on lawmakers, saying they risk losing the support of Hispanic voters if they do not establish a way for the 12 million people thought to be in the United States illegally to achieve legal status.
No one cares about losing my vote.
And POLITICS, not the LAW, is the GUIDE, huh?
They say there could be political consequences in swing states such as Colorado, where Hispanics made up 13 percent of the electorate in 2008.
Why does the MSM assume all Hispanics and Latinos support illegals?
I can't think of anything more angering then doing it the right way and them some illegal criminal cutting in front of you in the citizenship line.
Isn't that sort of a racist stereotype?
A measure that would have created a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants contributed to the downfall of a 2007 bipartisan effort in Congress to remake the immigration system. But activists contend that disconnected voters such as Garcia might be motivated to go to the polls this year if lawmakers appeared poised to take up the issue again.
So WHEN is Washington and the MSM NOT about "politics," huh?
Indeed, Garcia perks up when immigration is raised, saying that from her own experience, she feels a strong kinship with those living and working here without papers....
An avowed Democrat, he shrugs when asked whether he will stick by his party this fall. He voted for Obama in 2008 but now says: “I’m fifty-fifty on him. He doesn’t keep his promises.’’
Oh, you noticed that, too, huh?
The desire among Colorado’s Hispanics for overhauling immigration is not limited to Democrats. Republican Diedra Garcia, president of DRG Construction in nearby Lakewood, said offering a path to legalization makes good conservative sense. “I believe [immigrants] are serving a clear economic need,’’ Garcia said. “We need those resources.’’
Translation: He likes the cheap wages and no benefits for people who will never report mistreatment.
The economy is paramount for Maria Garcia. Once prosperous, she bought two homes and the commercial building where she recently opened the Florence Mini Mart. But the mortgages on the homes now exceed their value.
As you try to hold on to your one PoS home.
Related: Obama's Mortgage Meltdown
Obama not helping, huh?
In hopes of affording the monthly payments, she rented out the houses and moved into an office in the largely vacant commercial building. Her daughters moved in with their father, unwilling to live in the empty office, she said. Her savings are drained, and she is contemplating foreclosure.
I'm really not in the mood for her sob story, MSM.
Pfffft!
Garcia said she thinks overhauling immigration would bring prosperity to the community by allowing many more people to buy homes and would reward those who have lived and worked in the shadows....
Is that where the jobs are?
And do we REWARD CRIMINALS, America?
Sorry, wrong question.
--more--"
Imagine if the tea-baggers did that!
You can already here the MSM calling for their crucifixion.
And if OBAMA BUCKLES then the message is RIOTS and VIOLENCE WORKS, huh?
