Around AmeriKa: Indiana Ignores Kids

Shhhhhh!

Anthem is playing!!

"National anthem debuts at pacifist college" by Associated Press | March 24, 2010

GOSHEN, Ind. — The northern Indiana college’s decision to play an instrumental version, followed by a peace prayer, roiled many students and alumni when it was announced in January. But yesterday, the reaction was, if not 100 percent positive, at least polite....

The Mennonite Church, with which Goshen College is affiliated, has no official stance on playing the anthem. But the 116-year-old school had never played it because officials felt its wartime images were incompatible with the school’s commitment to peacemaking....

We are war, don't you know that?

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana is trying to shift hundreds of foster children with medical, emotional, or behavioral problems into cheaper care for children without special needs, a move that cuts payments to families who care for the state’s most challenged children.

Yeah, only banks, corporations, Israel, and wars get $$$ around here!

The change would give foster families less money to pay for therapy, food, clothing, and other costs. And some fear that fewer families could volunteer for the job in the future because they would have to cover the bills themselves. Foster parents who provide homes for special-needs children are paid up to $100 a day. Under the state’s new plan, many would receive $25 or less....

Well, the first denomination seems excessive; however, why are they balancing the budget on the neediest backs?

The changes, made quietly without public attention, come as officials are attempting to cut $56 million from the cost of providing for the more than 10,000 children who are in the state’s care because they could not remain with their families....

F***ing a**hole "public servants."

Many other states — including Arizona, California, Missouri, Ohio, and Utah — also have cut spending on children’s services because of budget problems....

Yeah, they are everywhere!

“The states are getting pounded, and this is one of the few times I’ve seen child welfare really get hit,’’ said Michael Petit, president of the advocacy group Every Child Matters.

Get used to it; it will not be improving in coming years.

This country is cooked.

I'm just wondering why special little lights like this one are denied funds while banks and wars seem to get plenty.

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — One officer called to a home day care to help control an unruly 10-year-old used a stun gun on the boy and another slapped him in the face when he wouldn’t listen to them, a central Indiana chief police said yesterday....

Yup, "to protect and serve," uh-huh!

Martinsville’s police chief, Jon Davis, said he believed the two officers could have restrained the 94-pound boy without using force....

They couldn't put down a 90-lb weakling, huh?

What, too many doughnuts?

The officers arrived found the boy out of control when they arrived; He was hitting and kicking his caretakers, according to police. He also wouldn’t obey the officers before they used force, they said. Davis said the confrontation occurred on the porch of the house while other children were inside. Police had been called to the day care once before recently about the same child, he said.

Then why didn't you just shoot him like they do around here?

The chief said Officer Darren Johnson, who has been with the department almost three years, used the stun gun, and Captain William Jennings, a 36-year veteran, slapped the child. The officers could not immediately be located for comment.

And I would rather not either, sig heil.
